Chapter 993: Babysitting

Chapter 993: Babysitting

As the battle with Azaron and Threshold I began in earnest, Malrik immediately tapped Asher’s on the shoulder as both he and the rest of his siblings vanished from their positions in the air, their forms crossing thousands of kilometers in a matter of seconds as they moved to get as far away from those two as possible.

The moment they had created enough distance, Malrik’s eyes turned towards his siblings as he spoke.

"Your opponents are over there," he said, pointing at the Alphabets, who had also been saved by the rest of the Thresholds.

Since Solaris had said that only Ezekiel was initially going to die and he had been saved from that fate, Malrik had no time to babysit his siblings. The moment Malrik pointed, the Suns’ and Moons’ eyes flickered in the direction of the Alphabets, their gazes lighting up with pure happiness and exhilaration at the thought of fighting. They were truly lovers of battle.

Even Apollo, who usually just lazed around, was fired up as though some sort of bloodline resonance was making him interested in battles he could never normally be bothered with. But alas, it was simply because the Alphabets were a bit strong.

The Convergence wasn’t just an organization that spanned the Zarethorne Empire. How could they speak about Human evolution while focusing on only one Empire? They had recruited people from every Empire, their organization built upon geniuses, or rather, deranged and utterly mad ones.

In another direction, Azazel could be seen floating in the air with the bearing of a madman, his daughter, Arianna, also floating beside him, though with a deep frown on her face. Even from this distance, she could feel the power that Threshold I and Azaron were unleashing. She couldn’t help but be stunned at the sight as she had never thought that Crownstar Life Rankers could be this overwhelmingly strong.

Another presence flickered into her senses. Her head snapped forward, and now standing before her and her father was a man with black skin, almost eight feet tall, with the Roman Numeral II etched into his tongue.

He was undoubtedly from the Velkarin Empire, as only they bore black skin. But she wasn’t surprised. Neither she nor Azazel asked the man questions like why he had betrayed his Empire and whatnot. An enemy was an enemy. What were you going to do with the answer he gave? Forgive him? Go easy on him? Please.

"You should go to your boyfriend. Your father is about to have some fun," Azazel floated as his black eyes remained fixed on the man before him.

Arianna was stunned. It didn’t take more than a second for her to realize that Azazel had known about her outing with Asher, but it wasn’t a date. She wanted to explain, but she knew now wasn’t the time nor the place. Her eyes drifted toward the side where Asher was, but before she could do anything, Azazel simply touched her shoulder, and she instantly vanished from where she was.

"Shall we begin?" Azazel asked with a smile on his face as his aura began to climb with staggering force.

He didn’t understand the man before him. Since Threshold I possessed that much power, then surely Threshold II possessed immense power too, right?

Asher, who was standing on a tree, immediately sensed space twist beside him. He didn’t hesitate. Virelass appeared in his hand as he slashed toward the disturbance without a shred of hesitation. The moment Arianna appeared, all she saw was a silver flash heading straight for her neck.

Asher was also stunned the moment he recognized Arianna, but it was already too late to change the trajectory of his motion, so he simply did something else. With a thought, Virelass vanished from his hand and returned to his soul as he forcefully ended the attack, saving himself from mistakenly killing Arianna simply because he had been on high alert.

But even if Virelass hadn’t vanished into his soul, Arianna had already activated her Genesis Archive ability and shifted into a phasing state in order to pass harmlessly through the attack.

As Asher and Arianna were about to speak, unfortunately Azazel and Threshold II had already begun their battle, as another compressed shockwave swept toward them. Malrik couldn’t help but click his tongue. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the battlefield while he was stuck here acting as some sort of transport coach.

Even Threshold III, who had teleported the Alphabets alongside her, was getting tired of the whole thing. She wanted to stop saving these fools and dive straight into fighting a Wargrave.

Her eyes immediately locked onto Morthern. The man simply smiled at her as his soul-bound book was already floating before him, its pages flapping endlessly as though they would never reach the final page.

As they both stared at each other, they vanished into the distance simultaneously, their bodies becoming streaks of light as they moved to choose their own battlefield a million kilometers away. Threshold IV instantly locked eyes with Damian, who simply floated there, thoroughly unimpressed, but together they also vanished without another word.

Morgana did the same. The Elders and Azaron’s subordinates also followed suit, as they were all Crownstar Life Rankers and didn’t want to mistakenly kill their own forces during the clash.

Malrik pursed his lips as he wondered if his own family had abandoned him and dived straight into battle. His eyes turned to face the Threshold who had chosen him, but the moment he turned to meet the man’s eyes, the enemy was already upon Malrik as though he wanted to catch him completely off guard.

He was Threshold XI, with the Roman Numeral XI carved upon his eyelid. His weapon, a dagger, closed in toward Malrik’s chest with astonishing speed.

Malrik’s eyes turned toward the incoming attack as though it were the most boring strike he had ever seen in his life. His hand immediately flew toward the katana hanging at his waist, and with a sharp hissing sound, Solaris left its sheath as Malrik moved to intercept.

With a thunderous clash, katana and dagger met with apocalyptic force. A compressed shockwave exploded outward, but before it could even travel far, Malrik was already on the move as the Light Photos in the air burned at his command, erasing the shockwave before it could ever reach his siblings.

Threshold XI arched an eyebrow, but before he could even blink, all that met his body was a devastating punch as Malrik retaliated without missing a beat. Threshold XI’s body shot backward like a sniper bullet as he tore violently through countless trees.

One could only imagine what he had been thinking. Was he really expecting Malrik to be incapable of blocking his attack simply because he was the youngest Crownstar Life Ranker amongst everybody present?

Malrik’s eyes turned lazily toward his siblings as he spoke, "You guys should get to the Crownstar Life Rank quickly. I’m tired of babysitting you all. Because of you all, I was left with the weakest Threshold amongst them," he complained before vanishing with a flicker as he chased after Threshold XI.

Although Malrik had punched Threshold XI, he knew the man had blocked at the very last possible moment by concentrating Astra energy at the exact point of impact, successfully defending against the attack and receiving virtually no damage.

Battle intent burned fiercely within his eyes as he surged forward.
