Chapter 1799: Another Path
Chapter 1799: Another Path
As everyone realized just how helpless their current situation was, but also felt unwilling to simply give up, it didn’t take long before a few of the wandering cultivators decided to personally walk over and try to attempt to break through the mist blocking the now open section of the flying ship. Attempting to cautiously probe the mist to see if they could break through it by relying on what little strength they had left.
"Huh...? The mist... Isn’t a barrier...?"
"This... Does this mean we can escape by leaving through the mist...?"
And to the surprise of the first few wandering cultivators who had approached the mist without expecting anything to come from it, they realized that the mist covering the entrance was nothing more than normal mist without anything special about it. Meaning that they were able to move through it just like normal mist.
With that in mind, it didn’t take long before the first wandering cultivator was unable to resist trying to escape, as he soon disappeared into the mist without appearing again. Having seemingly managed to successfully cross through the mist and leave the flying ship in the eyes of the wandering cultivators who had been keeping an eye on the situation the entire time.
To think his timing would be that bad... Plunging into the mist just after the second wandering cultivator died...
Only Chu Yang, who had the ability to see through the mist, realized the truth of what had happened to this wandering cultivator, as he had ended up being chosen as the unlucky third wandering cultivator to test out the ancient formation of the ancient pagoda.
As for the wandering cultivator who soon began scrambling to find a way through the mist after realizing it might be a path out of their current desperate situation, he didn’t step in to remind them.
Not just because this would inevitably expose the fact that his strength wasn’t entirely sealed to the being in control of the flying ship, but also because the wandering cultivators gathering around the mist looking for a seemingly invisible path through the mist that had turned into some kind of mystical maze after they realized they couldn’t just walk straight through it like originally expected, made sure that he wouldn’t have to worry about being the next person chosen to test out the deadly formations of the ancient pagod outside.
Although his original plan had been to contact his master for help when the owner of the flying ship inevitably dragged him out as well, he also understood that he didn’t just have to contact his master for help but also had to stay alive for long enough that his master had time to show up.
For this reason, he planned to take his time to observe the ancient pagoda and learn as much about he could before he himself was dragged out. Ensuring that he would be able to survive for long enough.
But... One problem that seemed to appear as he continued to observe the situation outside was the fact that the wandering cultivators who were either forced or thrown inside the pagoda didn’t survive for more than a few seconds. The one who had survived the longer, being a lucky Domain Lord Realm wandering cultivator who had barely managed to stay alive for a little over twenty seconds by tripping over the artifact of a wandering cultivator who had come before him. Allowing him to dodge a deadly attack and at the same time unveil a new safer passage through the ancient pagoda.
Safe being relative, as it only bought this wandering cultivator a few seconds more before he was similarly torn apart by one of the terrifying formations inside the pagoda.
For master to show up all the way from the Northern Central Region, even with his strength, it should take a few hours... How in the world am I going to survive that long inside the pagoda!?
Unable to stop a somewhat wry smile from emerging as he continued observing wandering cultivator after wandering cultivator being torn apart inside the ancient pagoda without one of them surviving for more than a minute even after the one hidden by the colorful robe helped guide them through a relatively safe path to explore a proper path through the terrifying formations.
No matter how he looked at it, he couldn’t see how he could survive inside the ancient pagoda for a few hours waiting for his master to show up.
Even with him dragging things out deliberately, the longest he could survive would be a little over two minutes... And that was without mentioning the fact that the ancient pagoda seemed to seal the escape path after one stepped inside. Meaning that even if his master managed to reach him in time, he would still be trapped inside the pagoda without any way out.
Feeling increasingly troubled as he continued observing the situation outside the flying ship, Chu Yang silently hoped the owner of the flying ship would give up on the ancient pagoda after the continuous failed attempt to find a safe path through the formations.
However, deep down, he understood that this was impossible. Not because the owner of the flying ship was someone reckless, but more so because the value of what was hidden inside the pagoda undoubtedly corresponded to the strength of the formations guarding it. The only true hope he had was some other Celestial Immortal Realm cultivator to show up and start fighting with the owner of the flyting ship, as he might be able to use such an opportunity to slip away.
After all, the strength of the mist might be enough to block the wandering cultivators without them realizing they were making no progress, but to him, it would be relatively simple to break through the mist and escape the flying ship.
The main problem remained the owner of the flying ship, as that person would undoubtedly notice him the second he attempted to escape and with the difference in strength, he stood little to no chance of being able to escape- no, not to mention escaping, he would likely not even be able to take a single step through the mist before being noticed...
"Psst, brother, did you also realize something off about the mist?"
Just as he found himself sighing deeply at the helplessness of his current situation, a voice called out to him from the side, causing him to turn around to see the face of not just one wandering cultivator, but a small group of wandering cultivators who were looking at him with a hint of understanding in their eyes.
Do they think my earlier troubled look had to do with the mist? Guess not everyone is reckless enough to rush forward at the smallest potential chance to escape, they should have realized what is happening and decided to keep quiet to not be dragged out of the flying ship themselves...
Narrowing his eyes slightly as he realized what the wandering cultivator who had called out to him had referred to, Chu Yang decided to play along and silently nod his head in a show of acknowledgment. Showing with his actions, he didn’t intend to reveal anything to the group of reckless wandering cultivators who still believed that the mist hid a path leading out of the flying ship.
"Great! Being able to see through the danger of the mist, brother should also be a skilled formation master with deep knowledge on the Dao of Formations! With another one joining us, we should be able to have an easier time finding a way to exploit that flaw in this Saint Realm formation!"
Huh...? This... This isn’t the development I was expecting...
Seeing the excited expression on the face of the wandering cultivator who had quietly called out to him, Chu Yang was somewhat taken aback by the words that came out of his mouth... And through a short explanation from this wandering cultivator, he soon learnt that the seemingly normal mist was far from normal and was the effect created by some kind of unique formation that would be difficult to see through without any cultivation. Only those with a deeper understanding of the Dao of Formations would be able to rely on their insights to see through the formation without relying on their cultivation.
Meaning... Everyone gathered behind the wandering cultivator who had called out to him was not just a formation master but had also seen what happened to the ones who ended up successfully passing through the mist in the eyes of other wandering cultivators.
Not just that, but they also seemed to have located some kind of flaw in the Saint Grade Formation that kept them sealed inside the flying ship. Potentially presenting another path for him to escape the flying ship that didn’t involve him getting thrown into the terrifying ancient pagoda a short time later.
"Of course, I would love to help in any way I can..."
"Haha, I knew you would. After all, we are all trapped in here waiting to get dragged out and thrown into whatever deadly formation or ruin that the owner of this damnable flying ship is trying to break into!"
With that in mind, Chu Yang saw no reason to refuse the group of formation masters...
