Dark Dragon: The Summoned Hero Is A Villain

Chapter 326: Spatial Rift

Chapter 326: Spatial Rift

Boom!

The air seemed to ripple as mana poured out of Noah like a broken dam.

His scream filled the air as the pain exploded through him, even more than he’d felt earlier.

And in that instant, he immediately lost consciousness, unable to handle a second use of mana.

Blood poured out of his nose, his mouth and his eyes, making him look like a ghoul.

The Mana Leech inside him, sensing that the mana that should have belonged to it was being sucked away, intensified its effort to siphon off Noah’s mana.

However, there was nothing it could do to stop what was about to happen.

The dimensional rift holding the monolith seemed to be working on autopilot, drinking in Noah’s mana without his input. Its pressure was even much stronger than the Mana Leech’s.

And a tiny, unstable hole, ringed with dark energy, began to bloom in the air.

The guards reached Noah, who was now wreathed and glowing with bright light, his body lifting off the dead rhino to float in the air.

"Stop him!"

They yelled, knowing that whatever the person before them was doing, it wasn’t going to end well.

They stretched their hands, firing their spells and skills at Noah, but before the attacks could land, the white light covering him expanded, seemingly swallowing the attacks.

The attacks were broken down into mana, the energy flowing into the slowly growing dimensional rift.

There was a flash of light as Principal Kael arrived, eyes opened in urgency.

"Stop!" He yelled at the guards.

Their attacks were like adding more fuel into the fire, instead of stopping what was about to happen.

The guards snapped to attention, immediately recognizing the voice of the principal.

There were other flashes of light as the teachers who could teleport arrived, and those who couldn’t raced to the faculty building, each one capable of sensing the disaster that was about to happen.

Swoosh!

Cecilia arrived in a pillar of fire, instantly taking in the scene. Her eyes widened as she realized what was happening.

"No." She whispered.

Her eyes snapped to the figure floating inside the ball of light. Who was it? Who was the person trying to bring a monolith into the school premises?

She couldn’t see the figure clearly.

Principal Kael stepped forward, eyes narrowed as he brought his power to bear.

With his hands stretched, he activated his spatial affinity, locking down the space around the rift.

It was growing, slowly becoming stable as it sucked the mana out of the floating figure, but he didn’t care.

He clenched his jaw hard, his hands trembling as the rift fought against his control. He could feel his mana draining at an absurd rate, but he kept straining.

He had to keep the rift from getting big enough for the monolith to come through.

"LOCK DOWN THE RIFT!" He yelled, his voice going hoarse.

The others didn’t need to be told twice.

Any staff with an affinity, spell, or skill that affected space stepped forward, immediately adding their effort to locking and closing down the spatial rift.

The type of monolith behind the rift was confidential, only known to a special few like the principal and senior staff, but the others didn’t need to know what was there to know it was bad news.

"Cecilia!" Principal Kael roared, his voice almost lost in the wind that was picking up as the two sides of spatial forces clashed against each other.

"Get Arlo!"

Without a word of acknowledgement, Cecilia teleported away.

This wasn’t the time to doubt the instructions of the principal. He was the most powerful mage present among them, and if he said something, there had to be a reason for it.

Even if it meant bringing a newly minted F-rank mage to the same place where a monolith was about to emerge.

A pillar of fire appeared inside Arlo’s room, dying down to reveal Cecilia.

"Arlo!" She called.

Arlo immediately snapped out of sleep, his eyes wide open.

The first year student dormitories were quite far from the faculty building, so it was to be expected that they hadn’t heard the commotion.

"Come with me."

Without waiting for an answer, Cecilia stepped forward and placed a hand on Arlo’s shoulder, both of them erupting into flame a moment later.

They teleported, appearing before the faculty building.

Arlo blinked rapidly, his eyes assaulted by the sudden bright ball of light floating in the air.

The next second, his green eyes widened as several emotions crossed his face at once.

Shock. Astonishment. Disappointment.

He’d just seen several truths at once.

That figure inside the light was Noah Webb.

Noah was still shrouded in whatever he used to keep his secrets hidden away from Arlo’s eyes, but as usual, he couldn’t hide his identity.

And Arlo could see the rift slowly but surely getting bigger before them. But that was not all. He could see the truth beyond the rift.

He could see that there was an S-rank dragon monolith waiting to burst into reality.

And he knew what was required of him.

Before his grandfather could even instruct him, Arlo stepped forward, and activated one of his S-rank skills.

"Rewind!"

Green energy coalesced and the wheel of time appeared before his eyes, unseen by all except him, sinking into the rift. Then it began to reverse.

Immediately, Arlo’s body began to break down.

The rift was powerful. Far more powerful than anything he’d ever used this skill on, and to make matters worse, it was actively fighting against his skill.

As if sensing what was happening, a soft hand was placed on his back, and a second later, healing energy poured into his body, trying to lift the strain of the skill he was using.

He glanced behind him to see that it was Cecilia.

While spells used mana, skills were powered by the mage’s body.

This was an S-rank skill, and he was a F-rank mage, so his body couldn’t handle the skill for long. Not without her helping him stabilize his body.

The rift slowly began to close, his wheel of time grinding against the current of time.

He had to rewind the rift back in time, closing it in the process.

"Hold!" Principal Kael’s voice rang out in the air, bolstering everyone who was focused on locking down the space.

Now, there was hope! They were going to close the rift!

As if in response, the glow of the ball of light intensified, mana raging in an attempt to resist the flow.

Arlo gritted his teeth, blood flowing down his nose as his vision slowly grew white.

He couldn’t hold on anymore. Even with Cecilia supporting his body, an S-rank skill wasn’t supposed to be used for so long by a F-rank body.

He tried holding on, his vision narrowing until all he could see was the rift.

It grew smaller and smaller, until it was the size of an egg.

And that was when his body gave out.

Arlo coughed, blood splattering down his shirt, and then, he lost consciousness.

The wheel of time cracked, and faded away.

And in that instant, the mana that the rift had been building up exploded.

Boom!

Everybody was thrown back, losing control of their spatial locks.

There was a rush of air as the rift cracked open fully.

And the monolith emerged.
