Death… And Me

Chapter 3639: Lost Count

Chapter 3639: Lost Count

*Zush!*

The first non-Hibiscus to appear outside was actually Werkel, from the same Universe as the twins’ group. He was pretty heavily injured and even missing an arm. His reserves of Divine Energy were at their end. Just standing itself seemed to require a big effort from him.

Werkel looked around, ready to fight whatever was waiting for him. His condition actually might attract more enemies, not to mention the chance of an ambush. "This..."

No one attacked him, though. Instead, all he saw was the body of two of the Red Glittering Hibiscus on the ground. Both of them were cut to pieces, were sucked dry, or both. It didn’t matter. What mattered was that they were all dead.

Then, his Natural Spatial Perception caught the approach of several black dots. He quickly turned around, seeing Rean and the others walking in his direction. "You..."

"Hey, it’s senior Werkel!" Rean waved at him. "Gezz, senior Werkel, you look like shit!"

Werkel’s mouth twitched. "None of your business!"

Rean then threw him a pill. "Here, take it."

Werkel caught the pill but then threw it back. There is no way he would swallow someone else’s pill. He barely even knows the twins. "I have my own."

He kept an eye on them, taking out a pill from his Spatial Ring and swallowing it. Slowly, a healing energy began to spread around his body, but it obviously would take a while to heal him. As for the missing arm, it would take even longer.

Rean shrugged and didn’t say anything. That was actually one of Roan’s Nutrients Pills. But since it was also made with the support of his Light Element, it had quite a strong healing capability, definitely stronger than the pill Werkel had just swallowed.

Roan ignored that, asking something else. "Who did you fight in the arena? Was it the Red Glittering Hibiscuses?"

Werkel nodded slightly. "So it wasn’t only me, uh? Yes, I don’t know how, but they seemed to be capable of selecting who would fight them with some kind of Purple Crystal. It was very similar to the crystals in this environment."

Following that, he made his own question. "Who killed these Red Glittering Hibiscus?"

"We did," Rean didn’t hide. "When they came out, they were so weak that even Elemental Space Realm Experts like us were enough to get rid of them. They were in even worse condition than you, senior Werkel." That wasn’t a lie. Both Hibiscuses were truly in bad shape. Well, even if they weren’t, they would have died in the hands of the twins’ group anyway.

Werkel narrowed his eyes. Indeed. As he is now, he probably wouldn’t be able to win a fight if Rean, Roan, Celis, Kentucky, and Rifindio attacked him together. He has the Laws’ advantage, but his cultivation is still suppressed, and he is also heavily injured. Well, he thinks he has the laws’ advantage, that is. "Is that so? But how come you all look fine? If the Red Glittering Hibiscus could really select their opponents, they definitely would have selected each one of you to get an easy kill."

"If we say we killed our opponents because they underestimated us, would you believe it?" Rean answered with a question. He was actually not lying there.

"I do," Werkel surprisingly nodded and didn’t even seem to doubt. "You are not what you look like, are you?"

"Hahaha!" Rean laughed and then looked away. Following that, his Elemental Intent Sword appeared.

Not only his but Roan’s Elemental Intent Scythes also came out.

Kentucky and Celis turned in the same direction. They all could feel it. Space was about to warp once again, and only they could tell it because they could use Spatial Powers at that level.

*Zush!*

Sure enough, space warped, and another expert appeared. Once again, it was a Red Glittering Hibiscus. Counting the five the twins’ group killed in the arenas, the two they ambushed outside, and the one Werkel killed, eight of them were already dead. There were only two left of that group of ten, and this was one of them.

The poor guy didn’t even have a chance to finish warping out of the other plane. The twins’ group cut, pierced and slashed him to pieces. Celis even dried what was left, robbing it of all its energy and life force so Celis could use it somewhere else later.

Werkel saw the whole process. Was that Red Glittering Hibiscus injured as well? He couldn’t tell. The twins’ group finished it before he could even take a good look with his Divine Sense. "That was fast... and how did they know that Hibiscus would appear there?" he murmured. Good thing he was from the same Universe and wasn’t on bad terms with the twins’ group. Had that been the case, he most likely would be dead by now.

"With this one, nine Hibiscuses are dead," Kentucky commented.

"They were pretty strong, though," Celis added on the side. "After all, if they appeared here, they must have killed their opponents."

"That’s true," Rean nodded, turning to Werkel. "Senior Werkel, seems like we aren’t too weak yourself. At least not compared to the ones who died to these Hibiscuses."

"Was that supposed to be a compliment?" Werkel definitely didn’t think so.

Rean shrugged as Roan took the Spatial Ring that fell from the Hibiscus. They wouldn’t throw free stuff away, after all.

A few more minutes went by, and the next expert appeared. This time, it was Cafantrie. She, too, looked pretty bad, but not as bad as Werkel. She noticed the Hibiscuses’ bodies and then looked at Werkel. "What happened here?"

Werkel looked at the twins’ group but felt like she wouldn’t trust him even if he told her. "They are dead. What else is there to say? By the way, did you meet a Hibiscus in the arena?"

"In the arena?" Cafantrie got confused. "No. Just like Lindiho said, I did indeed meet the strongest enemy I killed in the past. He was twice as strong, which also matches Lindiho’s explanation of how this arena worked. It was truly hard to put him down."

Werkel nodded and then explained what was happening.

"What?" Naturally, Cafantrie didn’t expect that. "How can they manipulate the arenas?"

"We all saw those crystals break in their hands. They obviously used them," Werkel spoke. "Other than that, your guess is as good as ours."

"Then..." She looked at the twins’ group. "Did you all..."

"We did," Roan cut in. There is no point trying to hide it anymore since they are here, after all.

"I see..." Cafantrie nodded. "So, nine Hibiscuses dead. There is one left."

Rean looked at the Hibiscuses they killed. Chances are two of them got to this side after killing Elsie and Royer.

But then, to their surprise...

*Zush!*

Space warped again, and Elsie appeared!

"I know I mentioned she had a chance and all that," Rean commented, looking genuinely shocked. "But I truly didn’t expect her to survive at all. I was even thinking what I would write on her grave once we came out of the Golden Palace."

Elsie, who wasn’t looking any better than Werkel, had several cracks on her core and barely kept her body projection. And yet, what does she get when she succeeds? Rean’s mockery, that’s what. "You know what? Go fuck yourself!"

’Go fuck yourself’ might truly become her motto in the future. Just how many times has she said that since she met the twins’ group? She lost count.
