Death… And Me

Chapter 3925: Fake and Real

Chapter 3925: Fake and Real

*Swish!*

A moon blade slashed through the guy’s neck, cutting his head off cleanly. The man then caught the guy’s body, looking in the direction where Roan and Kristan were fighting.

Who was this man? One might think it was Roan, having used his Mirage Assault to make a clone of energy while his real body actually came here. However, turns out this man wasn’t Roan at all.

That didn’t mean Roan wasn’t here, though. Just a few tens of kilometers away, Roan had Rean’s Light and Divine Sense Bending Skill active, watching what just unfolded with his own Divine Sense while making sure to not get too close.

This Roan was not the same Roan fighting together with Kristan, either. When Roan noticed the change in the Formation, he immediately created a copy of himself with the Mirage Assault, keeping within Divine Sense range so he could control it. Let’s not forget the twins’ copies still have around 80% of the original’s power, so that fake Roan was still strong enough to fight efficiently.

As for the Real Roan, he intended to go after the guy who was watching them, the same one who had prepared this ambush. Roan’s plan was very simple: he would kill the guy, bring his body to the fight with his real body, and pretend to be someone sent by the Divine Military Academy to watch over him.

After all, Roan could easily change his appearance so no one would recognize him. However, while he watched the events unfold, he also noticed the appearance of this new person. It was pretty obvious that this newcomer was just keeping himself outside of the enemy’s Natural Spatial Perception. Not only that, Roan could tell he was also watching the battle going on several hundred kilometers away, where the fake Roan was holding on his own.

Roan pondered a bit if he should make a move or not, but when the scheme was revealed for Kristan and Fake Roan, that man acted. He took advantage of the moment when the guy was distracted by Kristan and Roan’s struggle and moved extremely quickly. From what Roan could see, the guy was a Peak Stage Space-Time Realm, so there was nothing strange there.

Finally, the newcomer struck that Elemental Space Realm spectator, cutting his head and taking his body. Now, the Space-Time Realm expert was watching the Fake Roan and Kristan fighting. ’Hum... after we took the neutral position, I didn’t expect anyone to come to protect me. But is he really here to protect me? He is just watching as my fake body is fighting that enormous group. If he is here to help, why hasn’t he made a move?’

Meanwhile, where the Fake Roan and Kristan were fighting, Roan had the majority of the enemies pursuing him. However, the thing Jesesfau said about this place being filled with Dark Element wasn’t a lie. The Fake Roan couldn’t use many of Roan’s abilities, but the Dark Element here truly gave him the advantage... Well, at least that’s what the Real Roan made it look like. The clone was definitely enough to kill everyone in this fight.

The Fake Roan couldn’t use Roan’s Domain, for example, so he was still affected by the few Void Tempering Realm Enemies with Domains. Roan flew everywhere, deflected many attacks, and even took down another six enemies while fleeing. However, the enemies he took down were all at the Transition Realm or below, so it made sense that when they tried to stop the Fake Roan, he killed them with ease.

But after that, the rest understood they couldn’t try to block Roan anymore, and simply made sure to use their abilities to close any escape routes. The remaining Void Tempering Realm experts, six in total now, also didn’t approach Roan, certain that Roan could kill them if they weren’t careful. Roan showed he had enough strength for that. Their plan was to exhaust Roan and then strike once Roan ran out of energy.

Surprisingly, they weren’t too far from that objective. Roan’s Clone was still just that, a clone. It had a limited amount of energy. Soon, it would run out of it and simply disappear.

As for Kristan, since he wasn’t the main target, he only had Montre-Ui and a few weaker cultivators fighting him. Montre-Ui was slightly weaker, but by just a little bit. With the help of his companions, he managed to pin Kristan down and even held the advantageous side. That made it impossible for Kristan to help Roan other than just making sure Montre-Ui’s group didn’t go after him.

Still, Montre-Ui was getting nervous. The rest of the team, even if the vast majority was below the Void Tempering Realm, still haven’t managed to kill Roan. Montre-Ui was even wondering if he should just have his weaker companions hold Kristan for a short moment while he went to deal with Roan himself. But could he? Roan was showing why he triggered the Celestial Ascendance Radiance.

Back on the Real Roan’s side, Roan eventually noticed something. ’So that’s how it is. No wonder this guy isn’t helping. He knows that that copy of mine isn’t the real me. He is trying to find where I am.’

Roan was right! The man had his Divine Sense spread, and he kept trying to find the Real Roan with no success. Why could he tell that Roan was fake? Roan wasn’t certain, but there are too many things in the cultivation world that he doesn’t know. It could be the man’s race, some equipment, or maybe an artifact, even a formation. The point was, without even knowing where the real Roan was, how could he help? As for Kristan, it wasn’t his objective to help him, so the man didn’t.

In the end, Roan could only follow the script prepared for him. He moved away, suppressed his cultivation once again, and approached the battlefield.

He kept himself outside of Montre-Ui’s Natural Spatial Perception range, even if he didn’t really need to do it if he activated the System’s Armor ability. Roan had to keep up appearances, after all. Then, when the moment was right, he contacted Kristan. ’When I tell you to strike back, do it. I think we can take Montre-Ui down or at least deeply injure him.’

Kristan was taken aback. He checked the Fake Roan with his Divine Sense, and the Fake Roan seemed to still be struggling to stay alive. How could he help him? Could it be that Roan wanted to use him as bait to escape?

But then again, Roan already saved him once, so what’s the point there? If that was the case, Roan shouldn’t have helped him from the very start. Understanding that logic, Kristan gritted his teeth and prepared himself.

’Now!’

Finally, Roan’s orders came, and Kristan shot forward!
