Death… And Me

Chapter 3926: Long Enough

Chapter 3926: Long Enough

’Dark Aurora!’

As the leader of the team coming to this place, Kristan was obviously someone good at Dark Element or at least Yin Energy manipulation. Turns out he was the same as Roan, someone born with Dark Element affinity. This might be something extremely rare back in the Lisan Universe, but since they got to the Werdlem Empire, the twins had found plenty of humanoid races’ cultivators with Light and Dark Element affinity, and Kristan was one of them.

Kristan had a fan of dark feathers, which he fanned in Montre-Ui’s direction as rays of Dark Light spread. Something that looked like waves of Dark Element came out, concentrating in front and clashing with Montre-Ui and two of his companions at the same time.

Montre-Ui’s trio didn’t dodge and fought back. At the same time, another two of Montre-Ui’s companions circled around, attacking Kristan from the sides. In Montre-Ui’s eyes, that attack from Kristan was actually a mistake.

But then, space warped, and from behind Montre-Ui’s trio, the Real Roan appeared like magic.

’Red Death, Crimson Dragon Claws!’

For the first time since Roan began this ’recultivation’ of his, Roan showed that he could use Dark Red Lightning! There was a spectator watching and intending to report the news, so he might as well put on a good show for the man.

Ten Crimson Swords, all identical, encrounched on Montre-Ui and his two companions as they were in a dead-lock with Kristan.

Of course, the moment Roan showed himself, he also appeared inside Montre-Ui’s Natural Spatial Perception. How could he not understand what was happening? Kristan did what he did so that he could distract them, and it worked!

Montre-Ui immediately gave up that clash, pulling his weapon back and trying to block Roan, even if it would come at the cost of his two other companions and being struck by the remainder of Kristan’s attack.

’Hmph!’ But how could Roan possibly miss his attacks? Without using even a single iota of extra energy, still showing the power of a Void Tempering Realm cultivator, Roan’s Crimson Dragon Claws struck! The first one hit Montre-Ui’s weapon and pinned it down, while the rest went for Montre-Ui’s vital points as well as the two companions on his sides!

*Swish, swish, swish, swish, swish...*

*Arrrghhhh!*

*noooooo!*

*Bang!*

Montre-Ui got struck by the Crimson Dragon Claws, and so did his companions. His companions were killed instantly, while Montre-Ui still managed to use his last-ditch effort to not follow in their footsteps... for an instant!

Too bad that Kristan’s attack hit his back straight away. After all, Roan also targeted Montre-Ui’s companions, and with them dead, there was nothing stopping Kristan. Montre-Ui was then hit on the back and the front at the same time, ending his life there and then.

Of course, let’s not forget the two companions from Montre-Ui who tried to pincer attack Kristan. Kristan knew they were there, but they were much weaker than Montre-Ui, so he did not try to face the two. He just used as much Divine Energy as possible to create some kind of defense around himself and took the two attacks.

*Bang, bang!*

*Arrghh!*

Kristan was sent flying right after Montre-Ui’s death, blood spilled everywhere, and terrible injuries appeared on his body. It would be hard for him to continue fighting at all. Nonetheless, he avoided being killed while he and Roan did get rid of Montre-Ui in the end.

The only question now was, would Roan help him in this state? That didn’t seem like a wise choice. It was one thing to help Kristan while he was in fighting condition, like the first time Roan saved him, but another when he would be nothing but a burden.

Well, for a moment, the battlefield was silent. Everything happened in a matter of two seconds. Those who were pursuing the fake Roan couldn’t help but look over, shocked. What was Roan doing there? If he was there, then who was this guy they had been fighting so far? He definitely looked like Roan, no doubt.

In that moment of hesitation...

*Grab!*

Roan moved like lightning, grabbing Kristan. Without thinking twice, Roan shot away while carrying him.

As for the fake Roan, his body began to disappear, and everyone finally understood. They hadn’t been fighting the real deal! Even worse, now that they thought about it, they never understood why this Fake Roan never used his Domain. Now, the answer was right in front of them. The copy obviously couldn’t do it, and they fell for that.

"After him!"

Still, they held the absolute numbers advantage, and Kristan was completely out of the picture. They didn’t know why the real Roan didn’t use that opportunity to escape. Was it really just to help Kristan? That looked like idiocy in their eyes, but that didn’t matter. They now can see the Real Roan, especially since this one had his Domain spread, and they could feel its power corroding their own Domains. If that wasn’t the real Roan, then no such thing as a Real Roan existed!

Fortunately for Roan and Kristan, Montre-Ui’s death gave them an opening, which Roan used to fly away. He was still being pursued, and he was having to carry Kristan, but at least he wasn’t surrounded.

’W-Why are you doing t-this?’ Kristan asked, barely managing to keep conscious. ’With that p-power of yours, you should be able to escape if-if you leave me behind.’

Roan glared at him. ’Shut up! First of all, if carrying you slowed me down, I could simply send you into my Pocket Dimensional Realm and continue to flee. You wouldn’t have a choice other than to enter it. Yet, I didn’t send you in, did I? Obviously, carrying you doesn’t change anything at the moment.’

’Secondly, what kind of bullshit was that? Who the hell would receive the enemy’s attack head-on just so they could take someone else down? There must be something wrong with that head of yours. If there were only the two of you, it would make some sense, but it wasn’t. What awaited you was death by the hands of the remaining enemies!’

’What’s the point in doing that if you can’t survive in the end? I told you, we can strike him down and MAYBE kill him. It would be good enough if he weren’t in fighting condition anymore.’

’But that’s okay. Truth be told, your actions there don’t bother me that much. On the other hand, that form of yours, now THAT, I can’t accept. What if someone thinks I was saved because of something as terrible as that? Ridiculous!’

Kristan was speechless. Roan wasn’t angry for his sacrifice, he wasn’t angry because of the enemies... Roan was angry... because of his... form? Is that the kind of thing you should be feeling angry about at the moment? No, no one should be angry about that at all!

Kristan then checked the back with his Divine Sense, and he found everyone was still pursuing him and Roan. Roan had found an opening, but at that rhythm, the enemy would catch up to them. Kristan believed Roan was probably running out of energy reserves, too.

Well, Roan certainly made it appear that way.

However, a divine energy pressure then descended, affecting everyone in that area. No one could fly anymore, being forced to the ground. Everyone felt terrified as they looked up at the figure that suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

The so-called help had finally arrived.

Roan stopped in the next moment, looking at the guy. ’Took him long enough...’
