Death… And Me

Chapter 4059: A Good Life

Chapter 4059: A Good Life

Xixie didn’t know how long had passed, but when she woke up again, she was back in the Main Hall. Her clothes had been changed, much to her confusion.

"Oh!" Kentucky patted her head. "Seems like you are back to the world of the living. Good."

"Ah!" Only then did Xixie remember what happened. "M-My body was almost split in two! How am I back to normal? I thought I had died!"

Kentucky looked at her, his expression weird. "Died? Didn’t we agree I would heal you?"

"Heal me?" Then, Xixie’s mind went back to the test.

After Kentucky threatened her with the Divine Stones, she could only risk it all and try to land a hit. However, she didn’t do that out of desperation, but because Kentucky told her to do so through the communication sphere.

They were still able to have a conversation at the speed of Divine Sense Messages, so Kentucky had already asked Xixie what kind of abilities she had and what weapons she used. Thus, Kentucky told her to just go for it.

Of course, that wasn’t all. Kentucky also warned her that she would absolutely fail her attack. Xixie was confused, but Kentucky also kept saying that if she didn’t do as he said, he would use the Divine Stone. She had no choice in the matter.

As she approached Zanbril, Kentucky kept a very close eye on Zanbril since he couldn’t use his Divine Sense. If someone could use his eyes well, that someone was definitely Kentucky. The moment Zanbril moved the first muscles, Kentucky could already tell in which direction he would go and how he would act.

This is where that communication sphere came in handy. It allowed communications in the Divine Sense speed, so Kentucky told Xixie to change her body position and the direction of her attack as she advanced.

She still missed, but that was already expected. What Kentucky wanted was for her to be struck in a specific way. By doing what Kentucky said, Zanbril was pretty much guaranteed to use his lance to pierce her heart instead of anything else.

Then came the decisive moment. She was moving too fast, and the only way she could turn to attack Zanbril was if she used Zanbril’s attack to help herself. Well, Zanbril did not disappoint, and his lance went straight through Xixie’s heart. Not only that, he used so much power that he blasted off most of her chest.

Nonetheless, by controlling the position Zanbril would find himself, Kentucky also allowed Xixie’s body to rotate with the force of the attack. Zanbril would be slightly blinded and distracted as a result of his thought that he killed Xixie. Above all, the fact that nothing out of the ordinary happened until she died.

Of course, even a completely normal person doesn’t die instantly when they have most of their chest blasted off, as long as the head is intact, of course. It takes a few seconds for the consciousness to fade. It was during that one moment that her slap came, going through her own blood that was being splashed everywhere, and ultimately hitting Zanbril’s face.

A clean hit! No one could doubt she succeeded. It’s just that she paid the ultimate price for that. Was it really worth it?

It was at that moment that Kentucky broke out of his formation. After all, Xixie passed the test, so there was no rule saying he couldn’t come out of there. He zapped by Xixie’s side, and before she lost consciousness, he laughed and said he told her it would work.

Everyone looked at Kentucky as if they were looking at an idiot. What bullshit ’told you so’ is he talking about? Xixie was dead in the end. At most, four princesses would make it into the next test instead of five, since one of them died for that cause, Xixie, obviously.

"Hum? Oh! You aren’t hearing me anymore. Let’s fix it first." Then, Kentucky took one of Roan’s nutrient pills, putting it in Xixie’s mouth. She didn’t even have a stomach anymore, but that wasn’t an issue. The pill immediately began to dissolve as soon as it entered her mouth.

’Life Style, Instant Recovery!’

Kentucky might not be as good at it as Rean, but he definitely knows how to use it after so many years. It’s just that he is a lot slower.... in his eyes, that is.

What happened next left everyone in shock!

Xixie’s chest began to regrow at crazy speeds. In just a few minutes, the upper and lower parts were reconnected, and she started breathing again. As for her soul, Kentucky used its Light Element to keep it inside her body, preventing it from becoming a dead soul that would be recalled to the underworld. All realms of the A1 Universe might have been joined together, but the dead souls still went to the underworld anyway.

Kentucky held Xixie in the air with his Divine Energy, but she did not wake up. "Seems like the shock was too big for the girl. Oh well, so be it."

Then, Kentucky looked at Zanbril, who was still looking at him. None of the princesses dared to attack him while Kentucky healed Xixie. It wasn’t that they didn’t think of doing it, but that they were afraid of being killed by two newcomers who appeared out of nowhere.

Kentucky noticed when they appeared. In fact, he knew they were nearby from the very start. Still, he ignored them and talked to Zanbril. "So, she passed, right? Can we go back to the Main Hall?"

Zanbril put a hand where he received the slap. For a moment, his expression was serious. But then, a smile appeared on his face before he started laughing. "Hahaha! But of course! I’ll see you two in the Main Hall once this is over."

A silver light flashed around Kentucky and Xixie, and the two disappeared, returning to the Main Hall.

As for the two newcomers by Zanbril’s side, they were two Celestial Realm Experts, one in the Middle Stage and another in the Late Stage. When Kentucky broke through the barrier of his formation earlier, he moved so fast that these Celestial couldn’t help but react. After all, Xixie had just started to fall from the sky, and the direction Kentucky moved was the same as Zanbril for that exact reason.

The two of them thought Kentucky was going to exact vengeance on Zanbril for killing Xixie, and they truly almost attacked Kentucky as a result. The only reason they didn’t was that Kentucky was freaking fast! He wasn’t as fast as they were, but he wasn’t too far. Above all, Kentucky was closer to Zanbril than they were! If they truly attacked, they would probably hit both Kentucky and Zanbril, and that couldn’t happen.

Only when Kentucky caught Xixie’s body and took some distance from Zanbril did the two arrive, noticing they had made the wrong call. They weren’t even supposed to have appeared! At that moment, they could argue that Kentucky gave up killing Zanbril just because they appeared. Xixie was still dead in their eyes. Yet, when Kentucky actually managed to heal her entire body and bring her back, they had no excuses anymore. They misjudged Kentucky’s intention.

In the end, Zanbril waved his hand at the two, and they left, feeling slightly ashamed.

---

Back in the main Hall, Xixie’s mouth twitched as she finished hearing the whole story. "You didn’t say he would blast my entire chest off! You just said he would pierce my body! Do you have any idea how it feels?!"

Kentucky nodded. "Oh, believe me, I definitely know how it feels to have one’s body destroyed. It isn’t enjoyable, that’s for sure."

Xixie quickly remembered how he was pretty much skinned alive in his own battle, but didn’t seem to care at all. And yet, he also recovered completely as if nothing had happened. "Did you know that was going to happen?"

Kentucky shrugged. "What are you complaining about? You passed the test, didn’t you? I even went to the trouble of changing your clothes after healing you. Shouldn’t you be a little more grateful?"

"Chan... changing my clothes?" That’s right! She was wearing a different attire at the moment! "Wait, that means..."

Kentucky spoke the obvious. "He blasted most of your chest off, didn’t he? Do you think your clothes survived that? You were basically naked by the time I finished the healing. I noticed everyone was looking at you when I held you in the air after finishing your healing, so I changed them for you. Sure, everyone in the main hall and in the test saw everything, every single color, but it could have been for much longer."

Xixie quickly looked around and noticed many of the young eyes looking away. The old monsters didn’t care about such things anymore, but the youngsters definitely did. "Alright, this was a good life. Just kill me."

How much she wished there was a hole she could jump into right now...
