Death… And Me

Chapter 4298: Too Rare

Chapter 4298: Too Rare

When Roan got to the neighboring area, he looked for nothing but Godly Beast Alligators. Those Level Two Carcatira Alligators had the Godly Crystals that the Godly Predator ate back in the eggs zone. Then, there was the fact that the Godly Predator ignored Roan when it saw that Roan was only at the level of a Godly Spawn.

Roan had no chance of saving anyone if he tried to get close to the eggs on his own. The only way to do anything was to get the Godly Predator to leave the area. If it were a Godly Beast, it wouldn’t just ignore. The Godly Predator would kill it and eat its Godly Crystal, or kill it simply because it could threaten its egg.

So, Roan provoked the Godly Beast and then began to run away. It wasn’t easy to lure the Godly Beast. He had to keep his real form so the Godly Beast knew what it was hunting. That meant the Godly Spawn Alligators attacked him when they saw Roan. Also, the distance wasn’t short. Several times, the Godly Beast seemed to want to give up pursuing, too.

So Roan had to turn around and attack it again. It was annoying, and it took over double the time to go back with that Godly Beast. Nonetheless, if Roan was right about the Godly Predator, it would be worth it.

Sure enough, the presence of a Godly Beast immediately caught the attention of the Godly Predator. Be it because it felt the beast threatened its egg or just because it wanted to eat the beast’s crystal, the fact was that it made its move.

Roan had to be careful when he was getting close, though. His Godly Sense definitely couldn’t detect the Godly Predator as far as the Godly Predator could detect him or the Godly Beast. It wasn’t even a competition. Even worse, what if the Godly Predator actually considered Roan more important as a target? Roan had to think about a solution for all situations.

So, Roan based himself in the first experience when the Godly Predator found him while he was disguised. He remembered how far he was from the clearing when the Godly Predator noticed his presence. When he got more or less at that distance, Roan resumed using his Godly Sense for a fraction of a second in short intervals.

Roan’s Godly Sense would never get as far as the Godly Predator’s sense. In fact, it wouldn’t get anywhere near as far as a simple Godly Spawn. It’s just that Roan’s Godly Sense didn’t need to go that far!

Just like with the dead Godly Beasts in the eggs zone, Roan only had to feel the increased concentration of Godly Pressure entering his detection zone. If the concentration increased from a certain direction, he knew the Godly Predator was coming. It was far from perfect, but for this specific situation, it was enough.

So, when Roan finally detected it, he didn’t think twice. He changed back into his Godly Spawn form and released his own Godly Pressure. He wasn’t going to risk letting the Godly Predator choose if it wanted to take him first because he was a cultivator or the Godly Beast first for its crystal.

When the Godly Predator got close, the Godly Beast also noticed its presence. It wasn’t in the eggs zone, and it didn’t need to protect any eggs. So, when it noticed the coming of the Godly Predator, it completely gave up coming after Roan, turned around, and darted away.

It didn’t take long for the Godly Predator to appear, breaking everything in its path and flashing by Roan. Roan truly couldn’t match that kind of speed if it came after him. The Godly Predator seemed to take a look at Roan for a second, but it ignored Roan again, running after the Godly Beast.

Finally, Roan had his opening. When he felt he would have enough time to act, he rushed to the clearing, not even bothering to keep his disguise anymore. Roan’s plan was simple when he got there.

One: Get the Aura Gods who survived out.

Two: Break most eggs, but keep two or three intact. If Roan broke them all, the Godly Predator would have no reason to stay in the clearing. It would be the worst scenario if it decided to go after Roan’s group after that.

Three: Leave the Anchor Gods behind. The third part of the plan had to be carried out, even if Rean wasn’t happy with it. The Godly Predator would definitely come after Roan and the Aura Gods if Roan had also tried to save the Anchor Gods. That’s because they were being used as nutrients for the eggs, and without the nutrients, the eggs would die anyway. The Predator would do everything it could to capture them again to save its eggs. It was basically maternal instinct, no reason behind it at all.

---

Wurshan and the other Aura Gods kept running away as they heard Roan explain his plan. Of course, Roan made sure to leave out the part where he transformed his body into that of a Godly Beast and that he could generate Godly Pressure to fool them. He simply said the Godly Predator seemed more interested in the Godly Beast, so he lured one nearby and rescued the Aura Gods when the Godly Predator left for hunting.

"Sigh..." Wurshan didn’t have a good expression on his face. "Still, to leave them behind."

Another Aura God, a female demon beast called Tancxana, shook her head. "There is nothing that could be done. Roan’s reasoning is clear. I’m actually impressed he tried to save us at all. In that kind of situation, I’m sorry to say this, but I would have run away. Please don’t bear a grudge against me for my words."

The other three knew that already. None of them were supposed to have survived in the first place.

Wurshan looked at Roan, bowing his head. "Thank you."

Roan waved his hand. "You did good by me, so I did good by you. It’s that simple."

Well, there was also an annoying twin brother who kept complaining nonstop, but Roan wouldn’t say that.

"Why only us, though?" Tancxana asked.

Roan made it obvious. "That’s even simpler. When it comes to protecting the Besgol Region, the higher the level of the experts, the better. Wurshan did good by me, and the three of you I could still carry without being delayed. So, your efforts to reach the Aura God level saved you today. I have a pretty good idea of how things work. All regions are always hanging by a thread. I just did my part to make things easier for our Besgol today."

Cultivation level... Roan even thought that far. However cold it sounded, they were alive because of that, so none of the other Aura Gods complained. Now, their job was to go back to the mainland and report on this aberration. If possible, capture it. These specimens were just too rare.
