Chapter 4564: Silver Flash
Chapter 4564: Silver Flash
Rean stopped in front of the array that had a weapon stall set up directly on top of it. Just as Lukay had shown their group earlier, most of the ancient array appeared to be intact, but they would need to move this stall and the two others positioned on either side before they could properly access it.
"Hey there!" The cultivator behind the counter greeted Rean with a broad smile. "Are you here for a weapon as well? It makes sense, now that the outside world turned out to be true. I’ve sold quite a few good pieces today, but you’re in luck. I still have several pieces of equipment here that should suit just about any need you might have in this new era."
Rean glanced over the weapons for a moment before pointing downward. "Actually, I’m more interested in the array right beneath your stall."
The vendor looked down and immediately noticed the array. Of course, he had known it was there. He had been operating his stall in this location for quite a long time, after all, and there was no way he could have failed to notice the strange markings beneath his feet.
His expression quickly changed from friendly to annoyed, however, and he waved his hand dismissively. "If you aren’t here to buy anything, then go away. There are plenty of others with money who are willing to pay for my items."
Rean didn’t take offense. Instead, he smiled and tossed a Spatial Ring toward the vendor. "Would you mind moving your stall for just a minute in exchange for this?"
The vendor narrowed his eyes suspiciously before catching the Spatial Ring. He checked its contents, and his expression immediately brightened. There were twenty Godly Beast Crystals inside. It wasn’t exactly a fortune, but it was still considerably more than he would normally earn in an entire week.
More importantly, he rented this spot directly from the owner of the commercial building, so there was no risk that another vendor would simply occupy the space while he moved his stall away for a few minutes. "You must be one of those freaks who love investigating the arrays scattered throughout the city, right? Well, be my guest. Just give me a moment while I move everything into my Spatial Ring."
As the vendor began storing his merchandise, he suddenly noticed that the two neighboring stalls were being moved as well. In front of one of the stalls stood Roan, while Kentucky had stopped in front of the other. From the way things were going, it was obvious that both stall owners had received payment as well.
The vendor couldn’t help becoming curious. Whatever these strange cultivators were planning to do with the array clearly required all three stalls to be moved. He decided to stick around and see what would happen.
Naturally, none of the three looked anything like the cultivators shown on the wanted posters. Rean, Roan, and Kentucky had all used Rean’s Body Transformation Technique, changing their appearances completely before coming here.
’Rean,’ Flugel’s voice reached Rean. Another thing that had changed after the Woster isolation collapsed was that Celestial Sense and Godly Sense had returned to normal. They could once again spread their senses throughout the surroundings and send messages to anyone within range. ’These freaks he mentioned... Perhaps they actually know something about the ancient arrays.’
Rean glanced in Flugel’s direction before replying. ’If Senior Flugel wishes to stay and investigate, I’m definitely not going to stop you. However, my group’s main objective was to help the Natak Region, which we’ve already accomplished. Besides, there are simply far too many Law Gods in Woster. If we happen to get surrounded, we’ll be done for. Whatever these cultivators know isn’t worth putting our lives at risk.’
Flugel narrowed his eyes but didn’t immediately answer. He couldn’t deny Rean’s reasoning. In the end, he would be returning to Besgol without finding anything truly useful. The arrays used throughout Woster were simply too poor compared to what he had hoped to find.
’On a different note, one thing comes to mind, though,’ Rean suddenly continued. ’We’re going to use this array and the Tablet Key to teleport back to the fortress. But... just where exactly is Woster located? How far have we actually been teleported from Besgol?’
Flugel shook his head. ’How would I know? We’d need to leave Woster normally and then locate a Region somewhere in the surrounding area. Considering that the so-called Tany was the only outsider we’ve ever heard about, chances are the nearest Region is so far away that we’d have almost no chance of surviving the journey.’
Rean wasn’t convinced. ’I don’t think that’s necessarily the case. We now know that Woster was surrounded by an incredibly powerful Illusion Barrier that no one could avoid.’
’What if that barrier didn’t merely trap cultivators inside Woster? What if it also concealed Woster itself? It could actually be located fairly close to the Regions we already know about, especially our own Besgol. Perhaps Tany got inside by pure luck, while others didn’t see anything weird at all as the illusion sent them away.’
Flugel’s expression became serious as he considered the possibility. ’That... would make things complicated.’
’Right?’ Rean agreed. ’If Woster is much closer to Besgol than we thought, then we can’t simply pretend this place doesn’t exist. We need to go back and explain the whole situation. Besgol could very well be at risk if things are the way I just mentioned.’
Woster had far too many Law Gods. None of the Regions the twins’ group knew about would stand much of a chance against Woster if all those experts decided to act together. In most Regions, having two or three Law Gods was considered the norm, while some places had slightly more, such as Natak.
Woster, however, had thousands of them. With such an overwhelming force at their disposal, Woster could potentially conquer any of the surrounding Regions if its cultivators ever united behind such a goal.
’Very well,’ Flugel finally gave up. ’We should go back, then.’
The twins’ group took their positions around the teleport array, immediately attracting quite a bit of attention from the surrounding cultivators.
It didn’t take long before one of the guards responsible for the commercial center approached to see what was happening. "What are you doing here? It is prohibited to create problems inside the Fonyal Commercial Building."
Rean calmly looked at him. "We did no such thing. We simply paid our friends here to give us this space for a few minutes."
The vendor who had received Rean’s payment quickly nodded. "He’s right. We’ll put our stalls back in place in a minute. There’s no need for sir to worry."
"Is that so...?" The guard glanced at the ancient array and then at the three displaced stalls. He clearly found the entire situation strange, but since the stall owners themselves had no objections, there wasn’t much he could do. "So be it. But I’ll keep my eyes on you."
Thery then stepped forward with the Tablet Key in hand to put it in the slot. Until that moment, none of the cultivators nearby had even noticed it. The slot was small enough that it could easily be mistaken for part of the array building floor.
When Thery inserted the Tablet Key and it fit perfectly, the surrounding cultivators immediately became even more curious. The guard also kept his attention fixed on them.
Finally, Thery waved his hand, and several Godly Predator Crystals appeared around him. They floated toward the various marks on the array and settled into their respective positions. Thery still had a few Godly Pearls, but those were a lot more difficult to acquire and were better saved for emergencies.
Naturally, seeing several Godly Predator Crystals suddenly placed onto the ground caused quite a commotion. This section of the commercial building was mostly frequented by Anchor and Aura Gods, so even a single Predator Crystal was valuable to them. Seeing several of them being tossed on the ground was quite the sight.
"Everyone, please stand back," Rean warned, raising his voice so the nearby cultivators could hear him. "You really don’t want to get involved. Trust me."
The warning only made the surrounding cultivators more curious, but at least most of them took a few steps back.
Thery ignored the commotion and didn’t waste any more time. He placed his hand against the portion of the array used to activate it and injected his energy.
The ancient array immediately came to life.
Then, a Flash of Silver Light erupted from the array.
However, just as their bodies were about to vanish completely, a silver shadow suddenly flashed through the commercial building. It moved so quickly that none of the nearby cultivators could react. The shadow threw itself directly into the glowing array.
It was already too late to stop the teleportation.
The Flash of Silver Light intensified.
The twins’ group disappeared together with whoever had joined them at that final moment.
