Chapter 4584: Extra Companion
Chapter 4584: Extra Companion
That same day, Kentucky returned to join the rest of the twins’ group. Sure enough, he brought Kachia with him, although he hadn’t told her everything yet. He thought it would be better to have Rean and Roan present as well, especially considering that some of what he wanted to explain involved the twins’ group’s unusual circumstances.
“I see…” Roan nodded slightly after listening to Kentucky’s explanation. “Then come with us on this Elite Exploration Mission. We can explain how things work for us along the way.”
Kachia was quite curious about what exactly they were hiding from her. Nonetheless, she was patient and didn’t press the matter. She followed the group to Volkel Country, where they were supposed to meet Clasou’s subordinate. Since Arcis was one of the Law Gods of the Besgol Region, cultivators like him at least knew who Kachia was, and the man was visibly surprised when she arrived alongside the group.
Of course, that wasn’t his problem, so he didn’t mention it.
Lukay had also been told to meet them there, and he soon joined the group. He seemed particularly excited about the upcoming mission. During the previous two weeks, he had gone outside the Besgol Region on his own several times. Even without anyone accompanying him, he genuinely enjoyed the fact that he could barely feel the weakening effect of Godly Pressure.
In fact, if Rean hadn’t contacted him, Lukay would have gone out to hunt for resources by himself sooner or later. He had received quite a sizeable reward for completing the Woster Mission, but he knew very well that it wouldn’t be enough to sustain his cultivation for long.
Finally, everyone gathered in the same room with Clasou’s subordinate. “Thank you for coming. I’m Huhilir. Senior Clasou already told me everything, and this is the mission you guys will be taking this time around.”
The screen behind him changed, displaying a map of the region. A route appeared on it, stretching south from Besgol and extending far beyond the areas where even the furthest Elite Exploration Groups had ventured before.
“What are we looking for there?” Roan asked.
“The same thing you’re going out for,” Huhilir explained. “Godly Predators.”
He pointed toward the south of Besgol. “The south hasn’t received attacks from any major hordes for quite some time. Normally, that’s a good thing. However, when it takes this long, it usually means a new and larger horde is gathering somewhere beyond our current exploration range. Eventually, that horde will begin moving and come knocking on our door.”
Huhilir then turned toward the group. “Since your objective is to hunt for Godly Predator Resources, this is precisely the kind of location where you’re likely to find more of them. Of course, Senior Clasou specifically told me to make sure your journey is as safe as possible. Because of that, I also acquired permission to send one of our Law Gods with you.”
The group was immediately taken aback.
“A Law God?” Kentucky asked. “Since when has it become this easy to get one to follow us around?”
Roan, however, refused immediately. “No need. It will never be a proper training mission if we have to rely on a Law God. Besides, the other Elite Exploration Groups don’t have that kind of advantage. If you really want to send one, send one with them instead. Their chances of dying are considerably higher than ours.”
Roan gestured toward the group. “We acquired partial immunity to Godly Pressure because of what happened in Woster. There’s no need to waste one of the region’s Law Gods on us.”
“This…” Huhilir clearly hadn’t expected such a response. “You see, the reason we can spare a Law God is because we have six of them at the moment, so we can spare one. Of course, another reason is that it’s you lot that are going out. Rean, Roan, Celis, Kentucky, Lukay, and even Kachia.”
He looked over the group carefully. “Not counting Senior Arcis and Arrays Guild Master Flugel, pretty much the entire group that went to Woster is here.”
Huhilir’s expression became more serious. “That means some of our best prospects for the future, cultivators who are now practically immune to Godly Pressure, are all gathered in one place. It would be too risky for us to simply let you head out there and potentially have something happen to you. I don’t think Senior Arcis or Senior Tobao would be very happy if we didn’t send someone along to protect you.”
Kentucky suddenly spoke. “I know that’s a good reason. However, why do I feel like there’s something else behind this decision?”
“Because there is,” Roan immediately noticed the same thing. He looked at Huhilir. “Just tell us already. What’s the real reason for adding this Law God? Tobao and Arcis both know that even if there’s a risk of a Godly Horror appearing, we have our own ways to escape.”
Huhilir scratched the back of his head. “The Godly Creatures are definitely the main reason behind the addition of a Law God. Everything I said is true. But… There’s also the matter of the Natak Region.”
As he said that, his eyes moved toward Luxa and Lunelle, who were sitting comfortably on Rean and Roan’s shoulders. “Natak has contacted us many times and made huge offers to get these two there. They… seemed quite desperate.”
That immediately made things clearer.
“So they haven’t given up on Lunelle and Luxa yet, huh?” Rean asked.
Before anyone could continue, the door to the room opened.
A Spirit floated inside.
Several arcs of lightning revolved around its core, constantly crackling with energy. However, the feature that caught everyone’s attention the most was how similar the Spirit looked to Lukay.
Naturally, no one in the room needed much time to figure out who he was.
“Aurundi, I believe?” Celis asked.
Indeed, that was one of the new Law Gods of the Besgol Region, someone who had managed to reach the Law God Realm thanks to the Godly Apex Crystals.
“That would be me,” Aurundi confirmed.
His attention soon fell on Lukay. “Since Lukay is someone from the same Voltari Race as myself, the Godly Subjugation Guild asked me to be the one to provide your group with support this time around. I simply didn’t expect to find Arcis’s daughter here.”
“Well…” Lukay couldn’t help but add, “the fact that we’re from the same race is basically the only thing we have in common. We barely know each other, to be honest.”
“That is also true,” Aurundi agreed.
He then looked toward the twins’ group. “In any case, I heard from Tobao about who was responsible for the Godly Apex Crystals that allowed our Region to gain several new Law Gods. I owe your group for that, so I have no prejudice against playing the role of protector.”
Aurundi then turned his attention toward Roan. “I also heard that you would rather go out there without me so you can experience the real dangers yourselves. Don’t worry. I’m not going to intervene unless it’s absolutely necessary. In fact, as you heard, my presence is more due to the Natak Region than the Godly Creatures.”
Rean pondered for a moment before speaking. “Senior, would you mind keeping some distance from us if you follow behind? Just stay within the range of our airplane’s network, and we can contact you if anything goes wrong. That way, we can at least simulate the real circumstances of this hunt.”
Of course, that wasn’t the only reason Rean made the request.
The twins’ group would likely need to use some of the Orb System’s abilities during the expedition, and they obviously didn’t want Aurundi watching them every step of the way. Keeping some distance would give them considerably more freedom.
Aurundi thought about it for a moment before deciding it was reasonable. As a Voltari, he could reach the twins’ group extremely quickly if he flew at his maximum speed. Even better, his race could fly naturally, so he didn’t need to worry much about energy consumption if he had to accelerate and catch up with them on short notice.
“That can be arranged.”
Huhilir sighed in relief. “Good. Then your mission is set. Simply put, eliminate as many Godly Predators as possible to prevent too many of them from accumulating and becoming part of a big future horde.”
“Understood!”
