Chapter 1994: 500 Years of Time!

"So, what is the plan?" Max asked at that moment, his eyes still fixed on Arvantos. "Are we just going to let the devils invade our universe?"

The question made the hall grow quieter.

The other geniuses also looked toward Arvantos. None of them said anything, but their expressions showed that they wanted the same answer. They had just learned that the devils had pierced the Wall of Eternity, entered their universe, and even dared to stand before the Primordials to make demands. If the situation was already that serious, then waiting, negotiating, and discussing terms sounded far too passive.

Arvantos turned toward Max.

"The situation is not that simple," he said in a steady voice. "One fortunate thing about this crisis is also the very thing the devils managed to damage. I am talking about the Wall of Eternity."

The star map above the hall shifted once again, and the image of the central universe reappeared. Around it, the enormous translucent barrier shimmered with countless layers of law, space, time, and origin. On one side of that barrier was a tiny dark opening, so small that it almost looked insignificant compared to the vastness of the wall.

"The devils used one of the five Primal Treasures to pierce a hole through the Wall of Eternity," Arvantos continued. "However, piercing it is not the same as breaking it. The Wall of Eternity is still standing, and because of that, it remains our greatest safeguard."

He raised his hand toward the tiny opening in the star map.

"Right now, the hole is extremely small. It is barely stable enough to let a limited number of beings enter our universe. The stronger a being is, the greater the pressure they place on the opening. If someone above the current limit tries to cross, the passage may collapse, and the Wall of Eternity may crush them before they can fully enter."

Damian’s eyes narrowed. "What is the current limit?"

"At most, beings around the Divine King Realm can pass through," Arvantos replied. "Even then, they cannot pass in large numbers. From what we can tell, only a few hundred devils have entered so far. That number is dangerous, but it is not enough to launch a full invasion against the entire Divine Realm."

The tense atmosphere eased slightly, though no one truly relaxed.

A few hundred devils at the Divine King Realm were terrifying enough to destroy weaker star realms, but against the entire Divine Realm and the Primordial Race, that force alone would not be enough to bring about total war.

Arvantos continued, "If the devils want to send a true army, they will need to widen the hole and make the passage stable enough for stronger existences to cross. That will not be easy. Even with a Primal Treasure, the Wall of Eternity cannot be opened quickly. Based on our current judgment, it may take them around five hundred years to create a large enough breach for a proper invasion army."

He sighed softly.

"Five hundred years is not much, especially for beings at our level. But it is still time. Time to prepare. Time to gather forces. Time to strengthen the younger generation. Time to investigate their methods and search for a way to seal the breach before it grows."

The ten geniuses became silent after hearing this.

Five hundred years sounded like an enormous amount of time to mortals, but to cultivators in the Divine Realm, it was frighteningly short. Some elders spent longer than that in a single seclusion. Some inheritances took thousands of years to mature. For a universe that might have to prepare for a war of survival, five hundred years was only a brief pause before the storm.

Revona, who had been quiet until then, finally asked, "What are the devils’ conditions?"

Arvantos looked at her.

Revona continued calmly, "From what I understood, they also do not want to start a war immediately. If they were confident in attacking right now, they would not have bothered making demands. They are looking for something else."

Arvantos nodded. "Your judgment is correct."

His gaze moved across the group.

"It is not easy for the devils to start a war against our universe right now. As I said, only a small group has crossed through the opening. We do not know when another group will be able to enter, and we do not know how much energy their Primal Treasure must accumulate before the passage stabilizes again. If they attack recklessly now, the few devils already inside our universe may be wiped out before reinforcements can arrive."

Orion frowned. "Then why not just wipe them out?"

"Because doing so may start the very war we are trying to delay," Arvantos replied.

The hall grew quiet again.

Arvantos’s expression became colder. "The most troublesome part is not the few hundred devils. It is the young devil you saw earlier. His name is Varok, and he is the son of Devil Emperor Abaddon."

The expressions of the geniuses changed.

They had already heard Arvantos describe Abaddon as one of the leaders of the Devil Race, a ruthless conqueror who would slaughter entire worlds to obtain what he wanted. If Varok was his son, then killing him would not be a simple military decision. It would become a direct provocation against one of the most dangerous beings beyond their universe.

Arvantos said, "If we kill Varok here, Abaddon will not treat it as the loss of a small scouting force. He will treat it as humiliation and blood debt. He may abandon caution and pour everything he has into forcing the breach open, even if doing so damages his own side. A ruler like him will not allow his son to be killed in another universe without consequence."

Kaiden frowned. "So both sides are restrained."

"Exactly," Arvantos said. "The devils cannot start a full war right away because their forces inside our universe are too limited. We cannot simply kill all of them because doing so may force Abaddon to retaliate before we are ready. In a way, neither side truly wants an immediate war."

Max’s eyes darkened slightly.

That kind of balance was unstable.

It was not peace.

It was only two enemies standing at the edge of a blade, each waiting for the other to make the wrong move.
