Chapter 2014: A Path Beyond the Seven Divine Veins!
Chapter 2014: A Path Beyond the Seven Divine Veins!
After Varok and the devils disappeared, the meeting finally came to an end.
The outcome wasn’t a surprise. In truth, everyone present had already sensed the likely result before the meeting even started. The Divine Realm wasn’t in a position to launch a full war against the Devil Race right now.
The hole in the Wall of Eternity was still small, the devils inside their universe were limited in number, and the older generation needed time to prepare. Because of all that, flat-out rejecting Varok’s demands had never been the realistic option.
What actually mattered wasn’t whether the Divine Realm would agree to his conditions. What mattered was how many restrictions they could squeeze into the agreement. That was the whole reason for the meeting.
The Devil Race had gotten permission to set up a force in the Divine Realm, but that permission came with chains attached.
They’d be watched. Their movements would get recorded. They’d be forbidden from entering the Mortal Realm. They’d face punishment if they harmed, corrupted, enslaved, or secretly controlled the people of the Divine Realm.
The devils had won a foothold, but the Divine Realm had made sure that foothold wouldn’t turn into a free path to spread unchecked.
Even so, nobody looked relaxed.
The strongest first-rate forces started leaving one after another.
The War God Palace, Sword God Palace, Ascension Hall, Nine Star Court, Grand Void Sanctum, Stellar Templar, and Lunarian Kingdom all exchanged a few brief words with the four Primarchs before preparing to head out.
Their leaders didn’t speak loudly, but the solemn look on their faces made it clear each force had already started thinking about the future.
The years ahead wouldn’t be peaceful. Defense lines needed strengthening, disciples needed warning, hidden spies needed rooting out, and every major force had to prepare for a possible war that might arrive within five hundred years, or even sooner.
The Four Sacred Clans stayed quiet too. Valerius, Ashbourne, Ravenhart, and Evercrest had walked into this meeting carrying their own internal conflict, but after watching the devils and seeing Varok try to use the Pearl of Abyss on Max, even they understood the Divine Realm now faced a far bigger threat.
Whatever resentment and suspicion still lingered between them and the Voidwalker Clan couldn’t be allowed to weaken the whole universe.
Max stood silently near the Primordial side, watching the great forces leave. His fight with Raghor had ended quickly, but its impact hadn’t faded.
Plenty of gazes still drifted toward him before turning away. Some carried approval. Some carried curiosity. Some carried caution. Some carried the complicated mix of emotions from people who’d just realized this 1st level Law Manifestation Realm youth couldn’t be measured by normal rules.
Just then, Saint Reiner walked toward him from the War God Palace’s side.
The old saint’s aura had softened compared to when Varok attacked. He looked calmer now, though the deep battle intent around him hadn’t fully faded.
His long silver hair moved slightly as he approached, and the scars across his dark gold and crimson armor looked even more ancient under the fading light of the council domain.
He stopped in front of Max and looked at him for a moment. Then he laughed and patted him on the shoulder.
"Haha, you did well, kid," Saint Reiner said. "Those devils really thought they could do whatever they wanted inside our universe. How stupid."
Max smiled lightly. "They were pretty stupid, yeah."
Saint Reiner’s laughter faded into a satisfied grin, but his eyes soon turned more serious. He looked Max over closely, as if examining the changes in his body with a gaze sharpened by countless years of body cultivation.
Then his expression shifted.
"I can see it," Saint Reiner said. "You’ve unlocked the fifth vein of the Seven Divine Veins."
Max’s eyes moved slightly.
Saint Reiner nodded with clear approval. "The Vein of Resilience. Good boy. With this, you’ve officially surpassed every single person in the Divine Realm who’s ever opened the Seven Divine Veins."
His words carried real pride. Saint Reiner had always been strict with Max, and he wasn’t someone who handed out praise easily. His whole path revolved around war, body cultivation, and endless tempering. Getting approval like that from him meant Max had truly achieved something extraordinary.
Saint Reiner continued, "I told you before that only the Primordials had ever managed to reach the fourth Divine Vein, and that wasn’t wrong. Among the Primordial Race, there’s one existence who opened the fourth vein with the help of a complete technique, a natural primordial body, and countless resources accumulated by the oldest force in the Divine Realm."
He paused for a moment. "Even for that person, going beyond the fourth Divine Vein was impossible."
Max listened quietly.
Saint Reiner looked at him and smiled with rare pride. "But you, Max, have done what nobody else in the Divine Realm has managed. Not the War God Palace. Not the Sword God Palace. Not the Four Sacred Clans. Not even the Primordial Race. You’ve opened the fifth Divine Vein and reached the Vein of Resilience. From this point on, when it comes to the Seven Divine Veins, you’ve officially surpassed everyone in this universe."
His hand tightened slightly on Max’s shoulder. "You did well."
Max nodded lightly, but the curiosity in his eyes didn’t fade.
After a brief silence, he asked, "In your inheritance, you mentioned that beyond the Seven Divine Veins, there’s an even higher body cultivation path. You also said the Seven Divine Veins are only the foundation needed to reach that higher path."
Saint Reiner’s smile slowly faded.
Max’s expression sharpened as he pressed on. "Can you tell me more about that?"
Saint Reiner sighed. For a moment, the old saint looked far older than before. His eyes, filled with pride just a breath ago, now carried the regret of a man who’d chased a path for countless years without ever finding its end.
"The path beyond the Seven Divine Veins is the thing that’s eluded me the most," he said slowly. "In all my research, all my battles, all my studies of ancient body cultivation methods, and all the ruins I explored, I found plenty of fragments pointing to its existence. But fragments are only fragments. I know that path exists for certain, but sadly, I don’t know much about it."
