Chapter 2043: Daniel!
Chapter 2043: Daniel!
As Max kept observing the mansion, Anna finally returned. This time, she wasn’t alone. Two familiar figures walked beside her.
Damian and Revona.
The moment Damian saw Max, a faint smile crossed his face. "Max, you’re here too."
His expression made it clear he’d thought only he and Revona had made it to Bloodstone City. Seeing Max here was a pleasant surprise.
Max smiled lightly too. "Damian, Revona. Looks like the three of us are the only ones from our batch who landed near Bloodstone City."
Revona nodded. "That’s probably the case. Bloodstone City isn’t far from one of the nearby spawning points. Anyone who appeared around that region should’ve reached the city by now, if they survived the journey. Since we haven’t heard anything about the others, they most likely landed near different cities in the outer layer."
Damian nodded along. "That makes sense. The Godslayer’s Pilgrimage is way too big to gather everyone in one place."
Max wasn’t surprised by any of this. Arvantos had already warned them they might get separated after entering, but running into two familiar faces this soon still felt reassuring. In a place like this, even a familiar rival beat complete strangers.
Anna clapped her hands lightly, pulling their attention back to her. "Now, let’s head to the Information Hall."
She looked at Max with a half-serious, half-helpless expression. "Since you insist on going, you should at least go with people you know. Damian and Miss Revona haven’t visited the Information Hall either, so the three of you can go together."
Max had no objection. "Then let’s go," he said.
Anna nodded, but instead of leaving right away, she looked around the mansion like she was searching for someone. "We’re still missing one more person. Let’s wait for him."
Max raised a brow. "Who?"
Damian and Revona looked curious too.
"Daniel," Anna said lightly.
Max stayed calm, since the name meant nothing to him. But Damian and Revona reacted differently. Their eyes moved slightly, and they exchanged faint looks of surprise. Max had just arrived in Bloodstone City and knew almost nothing about the important figures here, but Damian and Revona had already spent some time deeper inside the mansion. Because of that, they’d already heard a fair bit about Daniel.
Daniel counted as one of the three strongest Primordials currently stationed in Bloodstone City. He’d defeated many geniuses from the other four races and built up a powerful reputation in the outer layer.
There was even a rumor that he’d once fought two top geniuses from the Angel Race and Dragon Race at the same time without losing. Whether that rumor was fully true or not, the fact that people still talked about it said a lot about how formidable he was.
But what really made Daniel famous was his spot on the Bloodstone City Rankings. He sat at seventh. That meant he counted as one of the strongest young experts in the entire city, not just among Primordials but across all five races gathered here.
Damian and Revona couldn’t quite figure out how Anna had managed to call someone like him over just to walk three newcomers to the Information Hall.
Just as they were wondering about it, another Primordial walked toward them. He stood tall, around six feet, with a lean but powerful build. His hair was dark red, and his eyes carried a relaxed confidence that didn’t feel forced. Unlike a lot of geniuses who deliberately let their aura show to prove strength, Daniel’s presence stayed restrained.
That restraint made him feel even more dangerous, like the power inside him had been tempered through years of real battles.
"Hey, Anna," Daniel said casually. His gaze moved across Max, Damian, and Revona. "These the three newbies?"
Anna nodded with a smile. "Yeah. I’m taking them to the Information Hall, so I figured I’d bring you along."
Daniel stared at her for a moment. For a rare instant, his expression went speechless. "No need for me to tag along if you’re the one taking them there," he said helplessly.
Anna pointed at Max without hesitation. "Look at him."
Daniel followed her finger and looked at Max.
Anna continued seriously, "He’s only at the 1st level of the Law Manifestation Realm, and yet he walked into Bloodstone City openly. Now he wants to walk into the Information Hall, where people from all five races gather to buy and sell news. If some arrogant fools from the other races notice him, they might start something just to test him."
Max looked at Anna with a faintly helpless expression.
She ignored him and kept going. "That’s why I want you with us. You’ll act as a deterrent."
Daniel smiled wryly. Others might not know it, but he knew Anna wasn’t weak either. With her around, ordinary troublemakers would already think twice. Still, he understood her concern.
A Law Manifestation Realm newcomer walking into the Information Hall would definitely draw attention. Even with open killing forbidden inside the city, provocation, schemes, challenges, and targeted information leaks were still very much on the table.
Since he wasn’t busy, Daniel didn’t refuse. "Fine," he said with a light smile. "Let’s go."
Anna nodded, satisfied.
With that, the group left the mansion and headed toward the Information Hall. As they walked, Anna introduced Daniel to the three of them and introduced Max, Damian, and Revona to Daniel in return.
Daniel didn’t act arrogant despite his ranking. He greeted Damian and Revona politely, and when his gaze landed on Max, curiosity showed in his eyes, but no contempt.
"So you’re the Law Manifestation Realm newcomer everyone’s about to start talking about," Daniel said with a faint smile.
Max glanced at him. "That doesn’t sound like a good thing."
"It’s not," Daniel replied honestly. "But it’s not necessarily bad either. In the Godslayer’s Pilgrimage, attention can bring danger, but it can also bring opportunities. The real question is whether you’ve got the strength to control what kind of attention sticks around you."
Max nodded slightly. That answer felt practical.
The group soon reached the black tower Max had spotted earlier. The Information Hall stood at the end of the wide street, taller than most surrounding buildings and far more crowded. Its walls were made of dark stone that seemed to soak up light, and countless glowing inscriptions moved across its surface like living words.
Above the entrance floated a large bronze symbol shaped like a circle with a sword at its center, almost identical to the mark on Max’s wrist. Around that symbol, smaller lights flickered constantly, each one carrying fragments of information, announcements, rankings, warnings, and transaction notices.
