Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4606: A Refreshing Feast

Chapter 4606: A Refreshing Feast

"I’m not sure." Shirley shrugged, "It shouldn’t be easy for a King-Tier Grand Ancestral Magical Beast to become a Paragon Magical Beast. Otherwise, the latter wouldn’t be so rare and precious that they’re practically revered and worshiped even in the Celestial Transcendent Galaxy."

"Shirley should be right." Davis nodded, "The further you go up the stairs, the harder it will become to even be able to raise your leg, much less take a step forward and lift yourself up."

"Yes," Isabella added, "I personally think that only Emperor-Tier Grand Ancestral Beasts are capable of entering the Paragon Magical Beast Rank. The latter rank is revered to no end for a reason."

Dewzai nodded a few times as she took in their opinion.

Having finished the feast, she wondered why there was no wine on the table, but didn’t dare ask since she felt it was already a miracle that the Divine Emperor of Death cooked for them.

She cast him a glance from the corner of her eyes, understanding how humble and loving he was despite what the world echoed about him. His mannerisms didn’t seem to be fake, and he was genuinely enjoying their presence- his wives’ presence.

She didn’t think that there were many men like that, causing her to think that her instinct might be wrong on this one.

"Was it good?" As though noticing her gaze, Davis asked.

Dewzai’s heart almost leapt in fright, but she calmly answered, "Yes. It was way better than Shirley’s cooking."

"Fmph~ I’m a princess. I don’t need to cook except for my prince, and my prince will eat anything I make, so improving is useless~" Shirley exclaimed with a steely expression.

Isabella shook her head, and Tia offered her condolences, causing the room to erupt into laughter.

Davis nodded at Dewzai, "As Shirley’s guest, I can make more if you want."

"No, I don’t need." Dewzai shook her head but quickly added, "I’d like some wine."

"I don’t have wine... I’d have to check the countless spatial rings I plundered..." Davis blinked.

"If there is none or it is too bothersome, then there’s no need."

"I apologize. I don’t drink wine since I regard it as a health and mental hazard from the time I was a mortal." Davis gave a wry smile, "Therefore, I don’t keep wine on me."

"Mortal..." Dewzai whispered before she nodded, "Wine is good for immortals. It can aid in cultivation, so I would say you’re missing out on a world. Regardless, it’s hard to believe a mortal can reach such heights while he’s still young. You’ve come a long way indeed."

She hid the fact that she thought of him to be an old monster.

"Aren’t you also young?" Davis blinked.

"I am, but I don’t feel that way. After I exited the Heavenly Stasis Ice Valley, I was disheartened to hear that the little girl I’ve taken as my personal disciple and shared my Emperor-Tier blood with to bring forth my clan, my Dewzai Clan, had all perished long ago, leaving behind a Devilish Flame Fox Clan run by the descendants of other inheritors." Dewzai sighed.

If there was some wine in front of her, she would’ve drowned some of it down her throat.

However, she cupped her hands towards Davis, "It is unfortunate that the Devilish Flame Fox Clan of the First Haven World was allied with the Cyan Soul Rat Clan. If my power has offended you, I humbly ask of you to forgive them."

Davis’s expression was solemn, "My condolences. As for the Devilish Flame Fox Clan, it should be alright as long as they don’t offend us again."

He chuckled, "Now, instead of wine, please have some juice."

Davis presented the blood juice he made and poured them into cups.

"Many thanks." Dewzai grew more comfortable.

She grabbed the cup and drank it in one go without being afraid.

Davis nodded with satisfaction.

He glanced at Shirley and saw that she was already aware of Dewzai’s history. He also felt a bit of pity for her since it wouldn’t feel great to lose a family member like a personal disciple. He admired Dewzai for still being able to stand strong, but he could always tell she had faced a lot of things. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to stand at the eighth step of the Stairway of Regression.

For the subsequent time, the table was lively with discussion and laughter.

They chattered and behaved like they really had nothing to do, enjoying the moment. Various topics were brought in, and the more he heard about the supreme geniuses of the other powers, the more he wanted to meet them and digest their abilities and attack patterns.

During a serious battle, he would always like to end it in one beat, but at times, he would let them throw techniques and try to garner insights behind them. In a place like this, where he wouldn’t have to worry about any ancestor descending to interrupt, he felt it would be good if he were to go see each power’s techniques.

He eyed Shirley secretly, wondering when he could feast on her.

However, she kept avoiding him- no, sliding away with flirtatious eyes.

Clearly, she was enjoying the process like she was fully immersed in foreplay.

Davis was also infected by her cheerful attitude, giving her what she wanted: the feeling of romance. They went to explore the woods, chanced upon an underground cave, and explored, only to find nothing except wisps hiding in terror.

They should’ve known this was such a good place for the little spirits due to the presence of the Translucent Golden Parasol Trees.

They abandoned their plan to sneak here later, apologized, and left.

Davis spent the remainder of the day cutting down the trees with a conjured chaotic axe.

These contained high-quality wood useful for many purposes, so he wanted to harvest them as much as possible.

The others didn’t stay put, also heading out to find more Primarch Grade resources.

They knew they had limited time since they would have to leave this Shard Region soon. Nonetheless, they didn’t focus on Low-Level Primarch Grade resources but on Mid-Level and High-Level.

Two days passed.

Davis went out this time as he heard a distress call from a spirit formation expert who used the light flashing in the skies to scream for help. It was quite the ingenious projection. Still, whether it was a trap or a genuine call for help, he would only know after going to the destination and discerning the situation.

But since it was a wide-area call, he knew many people would be making their way there, which could lead to conflicts and that was what he was interested in!
