Chapter 4607: Strange Call For Help
Chapter 4607: Strange Call For Help
Traveling for two hours, Davis finally crossed a river of fire.
He did so without hesitation.
The molten current boiled and roared, its soaring heat capable of melting most materials, but it parted beneath his steps as though intimidated by his mere presence. Each ripple of flame left behind a sizzling trail of steam, a distorted mirage in the already sweltering air.
The island ahead reeked of a plethora of energies.
The moment he set foot on the cracked surface, the aftermath of destruction unveiled itself in full. Massive craters carved deep into the bedrock, entire swathes of land shattered into fragments, and faint traces of remnant energy still clashed in the air, unstable and refusing to dissipate.
Some scars bore the sharpness of spatial blades, while others radiated the sheer might of different kinds of primary elements, their combined resonance making the ground tremble faintly as though recalling the fight.
Davis’s gaze swept across the devastation, sensing two different auras from these energies.
He felt that two powerhouses, no, two monsters had fought here. Their clash had ended some time ago, but its echoes refused to fade, lingering like a wound upon this shard region itself. He narrowed his eyes, sensing that it wasn’t as simple as it seemed since the quality of the energies behind these strikes reached High-Level Empyrean Stage level of comprehension, which were Level Nine Quiddity or Level Nine Abstruse Intent for Greater Laws.
The power was also similar.
This shouldn’t have been possible since these supreme geniuses were unable to reach that level unless they were like him, a being who had broken the Law Comprehension Limit in the Immortal Emperor Stage or a Divergent.
He refused to believe two Divergents fought here.
The other possibility he could think of was that they used spirits like Karyon Stormsong did. However, the aura from the energies clearly told him-
*Whoosh!~* *Whoosh!~* *Whoosh!~*
One by one, more figures descended onto the island.
The first arrivals moved cautiously, scanning both the terrain and Davis with equal suspicion. More came in waves, cultivators from various factions and rogue experts alike, drawn by the wide-area distress call. Conjured armaments gleamed in their hands, their auras tightly restrained yet sharp enough to betray the tension running beneath their calm facades.
Only after they saw that everything had already ended did they dare to relax.
Then, seeing the purple-robed man who dared to be at the center, their hearts shook.
"Haha!" However, someone let out a sneer, "These nobodies wanting to impersonate the Divine Emperor of Death and scare others are getting out of hand."
"Acting all mysterious~" A female voice echoed with amusement, "Little brother, unfortunately, you made the wrong choice today. We all know the Divine Emperor of Death is in the Wrathful Aeons Shard Region. Even if he were to come here to seek his wife, Shirley, it would take him months. Even if he took the Shard Continent route, it would still take him a few more days."
Davis cast a look at a blue-haired man with his lean figure draped by a white robe. The other was a red-haired woman with a good figure, draped in a violet robe and charming yellow eyes. She was heavy on makeup, making herself look like a vixen with red eye shadow and enticing lashes.
The two of them laughed at him and then ignored him.
Davis was speechless, but it worked for him, so he stayed quiet. He liked his peace that he had gathered over the last few days. It would be better if he could leave without killing anyone.
"This is some serious dogshit." One of them cursed, "The aura of these two feys is ridiculous. How come they’re so powerful? Are they using spirits? I sense a strand of spirit aura in them."
"It isn’t easy to tame any grown spirit." At this moment, Davis’s voice echoed.
Many turned to look at him, wondering what this ’mysterious expert’ wanted to say, "Even child spirits won’t acknowledge you and only try to gain more advantage from you. They’re as powerful as us, so they don’t think we’re worth serving. Then again, they do prefer some physiques, so it’s possible that the owner of these auras could’ve had some fortuitous encounter, but it’s hard to believe two of them gathered here and fought for no reason. There’s no sign of a treasure here either."
"Then how do you explain this kind of energy? This is way above our level. I’m leaving." That man turned around to leave.
"Coward."
"Who said that!?"
He turned to look at the crowd and growled.
No one responded to him.
He clenched his fist and turned around to look. He frowned, "Did no one sense that there’s a third kind of energy here? Weak yet existing. Certainly existing..."
His voice trailed off, causing many people to look around again.
Davis also searched and really did find a trace of a third aura, a light-attributed aura. It was weak amidst the clash of two auras, but it was certainly there. He guessed he failed to pick up on it because the other two auras were overwhelming and took most of his attention as he immersed himself in various conjectures.
He might’ve sensed the third aura eventually if he hadn’t been interrupted by others.
Still, he turned to look at that man with some surprise, "Good perception. Who are you? Where are you from?"
"Houdini Terssky from the Great White Peak Sect. If you don’t know, we’re within the top five powers in the Greater Realm." He added with some pride, knowing that these Upper Realm geniuses didn’t know much about the Greater Realm.
"Top five..." Davis repeated.
He nodded since he had some information on them, but he didn’t care much.
Still, the fact that Houdini Terssky could sense three auras and decided to leave after a moment of calculation of weighing the pros and cons, gave Davis a precise account of this individual’s mindset.
Other than suspecting him of being a part of this situation, Davis felt that he was a person who could survive here. If he were like these supreme geniuses, he wouldn’t stay here either, as the situation was clearly abnormal.
But unlike Houdini Terssky, the others were much greedier, looking for the signs of a heavenly treasure.
After all, those who sought help from the world in this manner were usually looking to not let the opponent take the treasure away as a petty act of retaliation. They were basically announcing the treasure’s location so that they could screw the other party even if they end up losing.
