Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4701 Gathering In The Mountain-Forest

Chapter 4701  Gathering In The Mountain-Forest

With Rioxys Plume, Davis's journey into the Shard Continent appeared as easy as standing on a bird and traveling like he owned the place. But in reality, he was nothing but a boat on top of a stormy ocean, a small boat at that.

It was extremely easy for him to capsize and die.

However, Rioxys Plume seemed to have the situation under control as she seemed to know how to fight using her innate darkness energy.

Davis was worried that he would have to teach her on the way, but wouldn't be able to, as danger would most likely befall them suddenly. Now, he was quite confident in this journey. Still…

"Rioxys, slow down a bit. We are not journeying to get somewhere but to acquire resources. Keep an eye out for High-Level and Peak-Level Exalt Grade resources. We need those more and especially the latter."

"Understood." Rioxys Plume calmly gestured with a thumbs-up again.

At her level, it was not difficult for her to identify Exalt Grade resources, unlike Davis and Fairy Thunderblaze, who could only perceive up to Mid-Level Primarch Grade resources. Anything above that will all look similar to them since their perception was lacking.

With the High-Level Exalt Spirit taking care of the reins of the Eternal Eclipse Bird, Davis relaxed before returning his attention to Fairy Thunderblaze.

"To clear the debt of the big favor, we agreed upon thirty Mid-Level Primarch Grade resources. I have some in my spatial ring that might interest you. I'd like to clear at least half of that now, and the rest of the half will be procured as we travel. Is that agreeable?"

Davis removed his spatial ring and threw it towards her.

He had already prepared a bunch of resources that weren't cultivation-oriented to them but fit for her, like space, lightning, and fire attributes.

"I'll see what I can take."

Fairy Thunderblaze caught it and looked into it. There were exactly thirty Mid-Level Primarch Grade resources of varying sizes and colors, sealed within jade containers that couldn't seal the efficacy from disappearing properly, and hence, it was also slightly open.

There were ten of each attribute, making Fairy Thunderblaze's lips curl since he seemed to have already curated the resources for her.

The problem was- she was completely unaware of what these resources were and what they could do. Most supreme geniuses were the same. They barely had any knowledge. Even if they knew, it was their powers informing them and giving them lessons at the last moment.

For example, the Astral Pill Sect's disciples were the most publicly acknowledged knowledgeable individuals when it came to Primarch Grade resources. If someone wanted to appraise or identify some treasure, those disciples were willing to identify for a good amount of information or treasure in exchange.

"Are spirits the only resource that the gourd and the seed absorb?" Davis asked.

Fairy Thunderblaze shrugged while still looking through the spatial ring, "Not really. I tried feeding the two Empyrean Grade resources, but it was slow. For spirits, it was fast. So I merely chose the faster way."

Davis contemplated for a moment before he lightly raised his hand and gestured, "I think it has to do with the spirituality of the object that is absorbed."

"…?"

"Think of it as a sacrifice." Davis explained, "Spirits have souls, while the resources here are suppressed by the dimension, unable to produce souls. Therefore, the souls or the spirituality behind these souls obtained by the gourd and seed are digested and sacrificed to the existences behind them, giving birth to more of these divine strands. The gourd and the seed only produce lightning and fire of their original nature, but after being marked by those existences, they start producing a different kind of energy."

"Think… didn't you say that there was human activity in that region? I assume you said that. It is common to think there were spirits there, too. Furthermore, the region where you found the gourd while competing with many others was a highly active lightning region, no? Where did you think the spirituality from the dead souls go?"

Fairy Thunderblaze's gaze flickered as her thought process was stimulated. Her lips moved, "After death, one's remnant aura or the soul's spirituality which is some sort of seamless energy from the three physical souls hangs in the air, only to be taken by the gourd… producing divine golden lightning strands…"

"Exactly."

Davis nodded with a satisfactory nod but still wryly smiled, "This is the most plausible answer I can produce. Whether it is right or wrong needs to be verified by yourself. After you return to the True Immortal World, it should be easy to obtain a resource with a spirit and let the gourd absorb it to see how many divine strands it can produce."

Fairy Thunderblaze couldn't help but nod.

She suddenly turned her gaze to Davis, staring at him as she felt he had matured by coming into more knowledge in this expedition. He no longer seemed to be just a young Anarchic Divergent with incredible power in her eyes. His reasoning ability and astute nature also went up a notch.

"It seems like you have had your own lucky encounters."

Davis mildly chuckled, "You could also decipher what their intentions are and how or why they're doing it if you knew about what the Third Step of cultivation is."

"…!"

Fairy Thunderblaze's heart shook.

The Third Step!

It was covered in mystery, and there was no sight of them in the Upper Realms as far as she could see, which means they could only be in the Greater Realms. The funny thing was, she hadn't heard anything about them. Even if there was information about them, it was downplayed, like Primarchs were mentioned as Autarchs in the news. Similarly, the stage above the Primarch Stage would also be mentioned as the Autarch Stage again.

She guessed this was done to avoid people from being burdened with karma. The more they know, the bigger the stage the universe would pull them into.

Davis more or less had some ideas at this point about the Third Step.

Divinity!

At this point, it was about souls, or rather, the spiritual power that stemmed from the soul, such as soul aura, identity, or the most prevalent one, faith energy.

It was even present in the Divine Exalt Stage. However, Davis finally understood it was just the beginning. Perhaps the Godskull was created way earlier in the cultivation stages that the Transcendent Scholars now think that it was too fast and flawed, and that's why they might've devised another cultivation method that matches the Exalt pathway and made it even better by researching the Seraphim Race's anatomy.

Thus, the Primarch Stage of the Transcendent Cultivation Pathway was born.

In any case, he didn't doubt the Divine Exalt method's authenticity.

The Sky Emperor had been a Divine Exalt or, later, a powerful True Deity or even stronger.

Moreover, his Natalya was going to train in the Divine Exalt Pathway, so he didn't like to think of it as wrong. It was different, religious, tyrannical, and relied on external spirituality. He always imagined that external reliance was the main reason why the Exalt Stage and Primarch Stage were born.

"Do you want to know?" Davis teased Fairy Thunderblaze.

Fairy Thunderblaze still felt waves in her heart, but ultimately shook her head, continuing to browse.

During this time, Rioxys Plume diligently stopped by a peculiar tree. Davis also noticed the difference.

Without saying anything, Rioxys Plume wrapped the entire tree with her tentacles and uprooted it entirely before throwing it into her life ring, making both of them speechless.

'A High-Level Primarch Grade resource of the wood attribute was easily obtained. It also has darkness property…'

Both Davis and Fairy Thunderblaze were speechless.

After obtaining it, Rioxys Plume silently took into the air and weaved through the forests again, this time clearly slower as she turned her head left and right, probing for resources at the High-Level Grade and above.

Quickly, Fairy Thunderblaze was done choosing the treasures.

She picked more than half and demanded two more High-Level Primarch Grade resources instead of ten Mid-Level Primarch Grade resources.

Davis agreed.

He was about to take out the resources he had prepared, but Fairy Thunderblaze stopped him.

"I have a treasure map. I would like to head there and obtain the resource of my choice."

"Oh?" Davis felt intrigued.

A treasure map was what he needed in the Shard Continent to enrich the journey and find even more lucrative and valuable treasures.
