Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4718 A Ruined Village

Chapter 4718  A Ruined Village

The two of them proceeded further without meeting much resistance, and when they did, a single wave of their hands eliminated ghosts and zombified corpses that were a far cry from their previous state. Once their souls were exterminated, they dispersed or dropped to the ground, leaving behind ashes.

*Boom!~*

Sparks of golden divine lightning and annihilative crimson heavenly lightning made a short work of these ghosts.

Occasionally, they would meet powerful ghosts at the High-Level Empyrean Stage.

Without increasing their strength, Davis and Fairy Thunderblaze worked together to defeat it. They had a feeling that if they were to increase their strength too much, the blood carnage Calamity would sense and find them. They both had the same thought- to ambush it and finish it in one move.

It wouldn't be good for them to let it escape since it was a blood-attributed creature.

For a Realm Calamity of that nature, they knew killing it would be extremely hard.

As they walked through the barren land of shadows and death, they finally stumbled upon something. The fog of ghostly yin energy cleared, and they could see a crimson blob up ahead stuck over a building. It was another village.

This crimson blob was slowly churning, something moving inside of it.

Davis and Fairy Thunderblaze shot a glance at each other.

They felt this was related to the blood carnage Calamity, making their expressions turn solemn. They slowly and stealthily approached it, trying to check it out from a distance. The crimson blobbed weaved and churned within, giving them a creepy feeling.

Suddenly, they watched a huge figure appear from a distance.

With a flicker of their bodies, they quickly hid behind a dilapidated wooden building, watching the huge figure close the distance. The ground quaked with each step the enormous figure took, its form twisting and reshaping in erratic, fluid motions.

It appeared humanoid, its face containing the essence of a human, but was a horror incarnate as its pupils were empty, fleshly skull nose, and its mouth contained endless maws. Its upper body was full of tentacles, but it didn't have legs. Instead, its lower body was that of a mass of blood.

What looked like flesh was not flesh at all but coagulated blood, shifting and folding inwards and outwards as though countless limbs and faces were trying to escape its surface.

Davis and Fairy Thunderblaze held their breaths, not from fear but because the air grew humid with a coppery scent of blood. It could be some kind of blood poison, so they chose not to inhale it.

From their hiding place behind the decaying walls, Davis and Fairy Thunderblaze exchanged tense glances through the dim cracks. The flicker of red light illuminated their faces. Her black eyes reflected crimson, her expression etched with vigilance.

Davis was also vigilant as they looked at its actions.

The giant bloody creature lurched forward, dragging behind a mass of pulsating tendrils that dug into the crimson blob like roots feeding on the land itself. However, it was clear that it was injecting something. Each pulse of its being sends waves of sinister energy through the air, warping the yin mists into a blood-tinged haze.

Davis leaned closer to the slit in the wood as he tried to see more, his aura tightly suppressed. Fairy Thunderblaze pressed beside him, close enough for the faint heat of her soft breath to brush against his face. Their shoulders touched fleetingly.

He turned to take a glance at her, and she was looking right into his eyes.

"..."

After a brief period of silence, Davis soundlessly moved his gaze away, and she pulled away from him.

The two of them continued watching from the slit in more uncomfortable positions since the hole on one side was taller and the other was shorter.

The crimson mass continued to pour something into the crimson blob for nearly ten minutes before turning around and heading somewhere else.

Davis walked out of the side of the building and headed to the crimson blob.

"You…" Fairy Thunderblaze called him out, hurriedly following after him.

There was no telling what was in that crimson blob. She feared that it could be another form of that giant blood monster, which they figured was the blood carnage Calamity. It looked extremely strong.

"Stay back. I'll check it out." Saying so, Davis concealed himself using his utmost ability and walked towards it. His steps were incredibly light, soundless, barely discernible, and didn't create a ripple at all in space. Even the ghostly yin energy wrapping him up acted like he didn't exist, as they didn't move to his passage.

Davis appeared before the crimson blob, and his eyes went wide.

'Blood Essence Orb…!'

He inwardly exclaimed as he saw the orb that was being nurtured by the flow of the blood inside the crimson blob. However, upon more investigation, he discovered that he was looking at a-

'It is actually a Blood Quintessence Orb, an amalgamation of pure essence of Blood Laws at the Exalt Grade. How…!?'

Davis's expression froze.

He instantly turned back to look at the bloody giant that had left, wondering if this was an ambush.

However, it didn't appear. Still holding his breath, he turned his gaze back on the Blood Quintessence Orb, wanting to take it. However, he had a feeling that if he took it, then there would be a steep price to pay.

His gaze flickered with decisiveness before he moved back and returned to Fairy Thunderblaze.

"What's wrong?" She sent a soul transmission.

"We could be wrong. That blood carnage Realm Calamity isn't as simple as it seems." Davis told her about the orb.

Fairy Thunderblaze's eyes went wide as she turned to glance at the crimson blob.

How was an Empyrean Stage Realm Calamity nurturing a Blood Quintessence Orb at the Exalt Grade!? It was ridiculous unless it had been the one to create it in the first place, but then, if that was the case, then it would be at Exalt Stage.

However, the invisible barrier clearly stopped Exalt Stage beings! Moreover, that bloody giant figure was also only at the peak Empyrean Stage if their senses were right. They didn't think it was wrong. After all, if it were as strong as an Exalt, perhaps it would've found them. But it didn't.

It wasn't even an ambush. They didn't eliminate that possibility because they heard it was mildly intelligent.

Hence, this made no sense.

What were they exactly facing here?

For a Realm Calamity to exist right behind the Myriad Coiling Spirit Peak for so long, was it really so simple?
