Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4877 Killing The Assassin

Chapter 4877  Killing The Assassin

Fairy Retribution had her gaze affixed on this strange assassin. The way he acted- suddenly exploding in prowess was as though he wasn't himself before was strange. She didn't know what was going on in his head as she was unable to sense his emotions. It was like she reached a spherical barrier that didn't allow her heart intent probe to enter.

'My heart sense isn't working against him. In that case, he must have a defensive artifact that blocks such probes. He must be rich for an assassin, or did he get that from one of his targets…?'

She calmly assessed him, attributing his strangeness to a possible scenario of him on the verge of breaking through with his blood physique, which had initially lowered his prowess.

Theorizing until this point, she relaxed and pointed the golden sword back at him, her emerald eyes gleaming with acknowledgment.

"I'll admit that you're strong, but you're nowhere near a true supreme genius. The difference in our cultivation levels saved you today, but don't think you can complete your assassination mission because I- Ana-"

"You mustn't, Young Miss." A soul transmission abruptly fell in her mind, causing her lips to twitch.

"I know. Grandfather has too many people who wish to see him fall, right?"

"After I reach Level Two Obscure Intent in Enigmatic Heart Laws and reach Absolute Primarch Stage with Level Three Obscure Intent in Imposing Sword Laws, I'll start rooting them out like weeds so grandfather's ideals don't have to be impeded by lowlifes who wish to benefit from the peace he created. That's why- don't interfere. This is a foe I must defeat."

She sent back two soul transmissions, inevitably revealing that she had backup to the assassin while still pointing at him.

"Because I- Fairy Retribution will not let you. You can address me that way for the short while you live."

The Guardian Elder sighed and turned to look at the soul body beside him, only to see him having disappeared, causing him to be surprised.

G'haren Bloodrain blinked, "Fairy Retribution-only? I'm afraid it might already be taken by a hundred others across the galaxy."

"Then they can challenge me and take it from me." Fairy Retribution said smugly as she brought the sword back to her bosom and kept it straight, her two hands holding the hilt firmly as the sword pointed to the heavens.

Her aura surged; this time, the Emperor-Tier aura of some kind of bloodline turned even clearer.

"Alright, Fairy Anna."

G'haren Bloodrain chuckled. He took out a cleaver in his hand and a moonglaive in the other. The black-crimson moonglaive that looked like a large three-bladed shuriken spun out of his hand, making its way for Fairy Retribution while he charged in with the black cleaver in his hand. Blood energy dripped from his body, creating a blood plank that let him slide like he was traversing on ice.

He dashed strangely, his movements unpredictable.

The instant Fairy Retribution saw G'haren Bloodrain move, she felt an intense amount of pressure crash down on her, particularly her golden sword, which made her narrow her eyes.

It was a suppression emerging from the sheer density of the blood aura he unleashed.

However, her bloodline wasn't something to underestimate or control, allowing her to stay afloat with ease.

The spinning black-crimson moonglaive arrived before her.

Its three black-crimson blades did not aim for her vitals, abruptly tracing an arc around her sword arm, grazing the space near her wrist, elbow, and shoulder, each pass leaving behind a thin crimson afterimage that clung to her like stains in the air.

She wasn't injured, but there seemed to be some kind of strange bloodpaste left behind.

*Clang!~*

She remained calm and struck the moonglaive, sending it flying back, but the moment her golden sword struck it, her expression tightened.

Her golden sword trembled from the sheer force behind the strike. It was heavy, unlike its slim and sharp make, allowing her to know it was directly controlled by the assassin as he supplied it with blood energy.

Her sword intent attempted to surge outward, only to find itself dragged downward as if submerged in a viscous sea. The golden glow dimmed slightly, its sharpness blunted for a fleeting moment.

Before she could adjust-

G'haren Bloodrain was already there.

The surroundings became a sea of blood, with his figure directly towering above her as the black cleave came down diagonally, heavy and brutal. Despite the bloodpaste slowing down her arms, she raised her golden sword to block, but the black-crimson moonglaive spun back in the same breath, striking the flat of her blade to the side.

*Clang~* *Clang~*

She barely managed to defend against the two strikes that overlapped.

Her arms jolted as her blood tumbled, but she forced her sword intent outward, shattering the bloodpaste that disallowed her to swing the sword freely.

However, it was obvious to her that she was already dragged by his pace.

"Haha!"

G'haren Bloodrain laughed as the black cleaver descended again.

She parried, stepped back, and attempted to widen the distance, yet the blood plank beneath G'haren Bloodrain extended unnaturally, stretching forward like a living bridge. He slid after her without breaking rhythm, cleaver hacking from the front, moonglaive carving her sides, his attacks arriving in relentless succession.

*Clang~* *Clang~* *Clang~* *Clang~*

One strike turned into hundreds and thousands as the exchange between them suddenly turned into a deadly close-combat fight.

The air was filled with overlapping weapon trails.

The moonglaive never stopped moving. It spun, rebounded, curved, and returned, striking from blind angles while the cleaver hammered from the front. Every time Fairy Retribution attempted to channel her sword art, another strike arrived precisely at the moment her intent gathered, forcing her to redirect it into defense.

Her brows furrowed.

It was obvious to her he was not overpowering her, but was denying her from using a sword technique as he kept targeting her golden sword as though he had a beef with it.

But for an assassin, wouldn't this prove to be fatal?

"You're one crazed assassin!"

Fairy Retribution's emerald eyes gleamed as she continued to defend. The minor injuries created from the ricocheting blood blades healed rather quickly, pure white energy surging from her body. She directly ignored the black-crimson moonglaive and struck the assassin.

*Clang!~*

The cleaver slammed down once more, harder than before, blood energy erupting outward in a crushing wave.

The result-

The black cleaver was unable handle the golden sword's sharpness and cracked, shattering before it made its way to G'haren Bloodrain's head.

The black-crimson moonglaive lodged into her left thigh, splashing blood, and her footing in the air faltered, but her sword didn't. Her golden sword cleaved through G'haren Bloodrain's head, this time targeting his soul.

'Retribution Sword Art, Fourth Form: Final Stillness!'

The strike was seemingly ordinary, but it cracked the soul and cleaved all the way down, destroying the dantian and severing the karma that bound flesh to the soul.

For a single heartbeat, everything froze.

G'haren Bloodrain's body remained upright, the blood tide around him congealing into an unmoving sea. His laughter was still etched on his face- mouth half-open, eyes wide with disbelief as though he had not realized that the strike had already passed.

Then the stillness deepened.

A thin golden line appeared down the center of his body, so fine it seemed illusory. His blood energy, once violent and domineering, lost its rhythm. The blood plank beneath his feet sagged, turning sluggish, then rotted, like spoiled flesh. Then he split apart into two.
