Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5265: Third Day Of The Golden Era

Chapter 5265: Third Day Of The Golden Era

Inside a flying ship’s cabin, Davis’s true body remained in a lotus position above the bed, faint traces of life and death energy flowing around him as he was cultivating. Quickly, it transformed into desolate arcs that faintly made the bed tremble before being suppressed solemnly by a tinge of grayish energy engulfing all of them.

The three types of immortal energies appeared to be in harmony, flowing smoothly within his body.

After completing the circulation cycles of his three cultivation systems and stabilizing his cultivation, he opened his eyes and a powerful intensity rushed out of his Will, making his aura appear quite inhuman. He exhaled a soft breath and flew out of the bed before exiting the cabin and walking out to the deck.

The thick scent of the ocean wafted over, filled with darkness energy, murky beyond compare.

Ordinary Immortal Kings and Monarchs could barely handle this energy, yet this posed no trouble to Davis or the others on the flying ship.

Davis walked out with his hands behind him and his gaze panning across the dark clouds of the Southern Abyssal Tidal Sea. He walked to the edge and looked over, the dark seas raging with great tidal waves enough to reach a few kilometers tall. If one could see within the sea, they would be able to spot azure underwater ocean currents that acted as quick waterways to get to many destinations across the sea.

However, the dangers were just as many.

Just looking over, he saw a Level Three Empyrean Beast Sea Lion, it’s golden eyes were vicious. Its ear flaps resembled those of a sea serpent, and instead of long fore-arm flippers, they had talons like they were intended for piercing and ripping apart their prey.

He had no idea what kind of magical beasts they were, but evidently it was not a magical beast.

It was a feral beast.

A Feral Beast was also a Magical Beast, but greatly differed from a Magical Beast. Their extremely low bloodline purity causes their consciousness to be hazy, making them incapable of logical thoughts. This was mostly due to rampant breeding among the feral beasts. They were highly aggressive and territorial, and the sea was full of them, also making it a prime spot for hunting and gathering sea magical beast resources for humans while also remaining a perpetual devouring ground for sea magical beasts and sea feral beasts.

It loomed within the raging sea, its face slightly floating above the surface as its golden eyes flickered with patience yet also hunger as it looked at the flying ship above.

It felt curious and greedy about the man above, yet when a person with bunny ears appeared at the edge, standing alongside the man, it let out a whimper and dove deep into the sea.

As a beast, how could it not flee after seeing an Exalt Beast!?

Davis took his serene gaze off the fleeing sea lion, glanced at Illumina, and then moved his gaze to the distant crimson vortexes that thundered with crimson extinction lightning.

"Have we arrived at the next destination?" He asked while imagining that if he were an ordinary cultivator, he would likely go there to gather that crimson extinction lightning for cultivation since it was at the peak of the Immortal Emperor Grade, suitable for an ordinary Empyrean to digest and increase their strength. But in Davis’s eyes, such an increase in strength would be so pitiful.

"Yes, we’re only a few minutes away from the destination. After asking around at the nearby coastal city, I confirmed that the place master marked on the map is known as Skycloud Island. The World Hegemon Grade treasure is very likely to be in this place," Illumina responded.

She added, "It’s an abandoned island but occupied by sky feral beasts. There’s a high chance an Exalt Magical Beast is guarding the treasure."

Davis nodded noncommittally, his thoughts drifting.

It had been two days since the Golden Era had descended, and the purple-white clouds were receding after staying for a full thirty-three hours. But the purity of the heaven and earth energy didn’t stop increasing across the realm. The phenomenon itself had nothing to do with the spread of the Golden Era’s tsunami of heaven and earth energy.

That was good to know since he had nearly jumped in worry that the Golden Era had already ended.

But after two days, most of the treasures sprouting underneath the skies of the Six-Headed Hydra Upper Realm had been plundered.

This was the third day.

In the Southern Abyssal Tidal Sea, he had barely managed to secure two World Hegemon Grade Treasures out of visiting eight places. Unfortunately, he wasn’t in time for the matured treasure since he was already late in heading south. After all, he had visited the north first.

Nonetheless, this was the ninth and the last destination marked on the map. He wondered if the treasure was still there or if it was already plundered or even eaten by the guardian itself, as some had realized the danger and ate the treasure preemptively, even succeeding in breaking through to the Realm Beast Stage and ascending to the Greater Realm.

It was certainly a sight to see from a vast distance, but Davis didn’t linger for long and continued sailing across the dark and cloudy skies.

He had already made a full U-turn in the Southern Abyssal Tidal Sea. After the last destination, he would be on his way to the new rendezvous point, but he was worried if Evelynn and the others were okay. After all, his connection to the avatar had been cut for over eighteen hours now.

Illumina gazed at him, and her face slightly withered. After a brief hesitation, she said, "Master, did I do something wrong?"

"Hmm?" Davis came out of his reverie and then shook his head.

"No, it’s not your fault."

He said gently, causing Illumina’s face to only wither more.

They had almost done it as they passionate kissed, but suddenly, the obsidian flying palace and everyone in it were in danger, so they had rushed there, but the danger was resolved by the Celestial Transcendent himself. They lingered in the skies halfway, pondering whether to continue the treasure hunt or not, and after thirty minutes of nothing happening, they decided to continue.

By the time they reached the Southern Abyssal Tidal Sea, the matured treasure was already plundered, with countless corpses staining the seabed, with the sea having been parted by an Exalt. Judging by the energy, he figured it was one of the Abyssal Radiance Empire’s ancestors, someone other than the one he faced.

The second treasure in the Southern Abyssal Tidal Sea, he managed to find it.

The third, not so much luck. He couldn’t even tell what had happened there, as there was a war between multiple powers with barely anyone surviving at all and the whereabouts of the treasure unknown, likely stolen by a powerful rogue cultivator.

The fourth and fifth were eaten by the guardians of the treasures; one failed to ascend, and the other succeeded. The magical beast that failed to ascend to the Realm Beast Stage was a damned crab. Davis swore he had never seen an Immortal Emperor Crab, much less an Exalt Beast Crab whose bloodline rank was comparable to a Grand Ancestral Magical Beast.

Unfortunately, it had never truly succeeded in becoming a true Grand Ancestral Magical Beast, for it lacked a wisp of quintessence from its ancestors in its magical beast core, evidently being a beast that rose up from the lower bloodline ranks and consequently, the bloodline purity was very low, which didn’t fully allow it to step into the Grand Ancestral Bloodline Rank. However, its bloodline purity wasn’t low enough for it to be considered a Feral Beast either.

It could be considered a Grand Ancestral Bloodline Rank Magical Beast whose bloodline limits restricted it from going above the Exalt Beast Stage purely because of the impurity of the bloodline. For it to cleanse it, heavenly tribulation was one way.

A true Grand Ancestral Bloodline Rank Magical beast on the other hand, didn’t have any limits according to what Davis knew. But in terms of pure prowess and noble bloodline suppression, it could rarely ever compare with a Paragon Bloodline Rank Magical Beast.

Naturally, eating an unripe treasure didn’t help the damn crab significantly either, so it failed to overcome the tribulation to breakthrough to the Realm Beast Stage, evolve into a true Grand Ancestral Bloodline Rank Magical Beast, and ascend.

It had perished, leaving behind its body and energy for the countless sea beasts to devour.

Davis didn’t bother to take their feast. Most of it appeared to be destroyed by the tribulation lightning anyway, its essence given back to the heaven and earth. He was already too late to the party. However, he did take away its pincer claws since it was greatly useful for forging armaments and artifacts.
