Chapter 1017: Judgement
"Indeed, you are a frightening human being, Young Master Yohan!" Elaine said while falling to the ground, her gaze fixated on Yohan, who was standing in the sky looking in her direction.
She smiled, and the next moment, she gracefully landed on the ground.
"I thought I tricked you, but alas, I failed. There are only a handful of people in this kingdom who could see through my deception; congratulations, now you are one of them!" she whispered as she casually dusted herself off. The next moment, Yohan appeared on the ground right before her.
The way this woman talked, Yohan was certain that she was no simple woman. She clearly mentioned that few individuals could see through her deception, which made her stand out, and those people she mentioned must be big shots who could see through her cultivation base.
"Who are you, and what do you want from me?" he asked, looking at her with a serious gaze. In response, Elaine simply smiled and took a step closer to him, placing one of her fingers on his chest while looking into his very eyes.
"Same question... who in the world are you? Reaching the Heavenly Soul Realm at such a young age—two years ago you were nobody, but now look at you... in such a short span of time, you became a force to engulf this very kingdom. A frightening existence indeed!" Elaine said in a calm and composed manner while maintaining her gaze, as if she were trying to look into his very soul through his eyes. Yohan turned silent after hearing her remark about his growth.
This lady was indeed something else; from the very beginning, he knew she was not a simple woman. There was something about her making him restless the moment he laid eyes on her. He knew she was hiding her real identity along with her frightening cultivation base, which exceeded his, but it was not about her cultivation base that made her stand out; it was something else about this woman which was making him anxious.
"Are you connected to those warlords? Did the Imperial Family send you here?" Yohan looked at her; his initial thoughts were that she might be connected to the Imperial Family and might be one of the Seven Warlords.
Hearing Yohan’s speculation about her background, Elaine frowned and looked somewhat dejected, but nevertheless, she shook her head.
"I don’t belong to that faction... I am someone who doesn’t like the idea of being tied up to a single place or a single person... but I might change that habit for you!" she said in a playful manner while closing the gap between them.
"Look, if you are not connected to those people, then you should go back wherever you came from. I am not interested in playing any games!" Yohan whispered as he tried to calm the uneasiness that he was feeling around her.
Elaine smiled hearing Yohan. She moved her arm around him, reaching the back of his head and pressing her breast against him. Her lips were inches apart from Yohan’s lips; her eyes were fixated on his eyes.
"I am not playing any games with you... I simply want to be with you. I even confessed my feelings inside that inn. I want you to take me as your partner!" Elaine said as her warm breath tickled Yohan’s face, making him nervous around her, but nevertheless, he maintained his composure.
"And why would I do that? I don’t even know who the hell you are or where you come from. You are shady as fuck," Yohan whispered as he moved her hand away from him, maintaining a safe distance from this woman.
From the outside, he looked calm and composed around this woman, as if he were not affected by her charm and that noble aura she carried around her, but deep down, he was a complete mess. For some reason, he was barely holding himself together around this woman as she was making him restless for a certain reason.
"Sheesh, you are so mean! You don’t even know how far I’ve come to see you. After coming to this region, I even got involved with some shady person who was pretending to be you. It was frustrating following him around bullying weak people. You see, I was happy when I finally found you inside that inn, but look at you now, pushing me away when I genuinely want to be with you," Elaine said as she looked at Yohan with a cute, innocent face. Her eyes even turned teary; seeing that look on her face, Yohan’s brows twitched.
Up until now, she hadn’t shown any sign of hostility towards him. There were no signs of malice or killing intent directed at him, but despite that, Yohan was not aware of Elaine’s real identity or her reasoning for coming to him. He knew there was more than what met his eye.
Apart from that, he could sense an identical Qi from this woman which reminded him of a certain someone he deeply cared for. That sense of familiarity was making Yohan restless and nervous about her background.
After shrugging off that feeling, Yohan took a long sigh and looked at this woman with a serious gaze.
"What do you want from me?" he finally asked. This time he was serious; the air around him became different and the atmosphere turned heavy.
Elaine took a long sigh, completely unaffected by the pressure. She looked at Yohan, but this time her gaze carried a different intensity.
"Well, if that’s how you want to do things, then it’s fine with me," Elaine said as she looked at Yohan, and the next moment, the surrounding space started trembling. Yohan remained standing right before her, unfazed, maintaining his gaze on her.
She moved a couple of steps closer to him until the two of them were standing face to face. The ground under their feet started cracking and was destroyed as their Qi clashed with each other’s.
"I want to know the secret behind your frightening growth. Even if you are Heaven’s Child, a genius born in a millennium, this kind of growth is unheard of. Every cultivator born in this world is bound by certain rules and laws that they have to follow," Elaine whispered while looking into Yohan’s eyes, and then she added:
"I am Elaine De Noir, one of the twelve Overseers of this world. I am here to judge you, Young Master Yohan."
