Endless Evolution: Last Star

Chapter 1561: Blood and Snow

Chapter 1561: Blood and Snow

No one expected that with just one ability, Adam could become so strong.

The most surprised of all was not even Vaarh, but Alexia, who couldn’t believe what she was seeing.

"He’s just cutting them down..." she muttered, looking around.

Dozens of monsters were killed quickly and brutally, their cooling bodies lying on the ground like a bloody trail of Adam’s carnage.

"Alright, I have to get back into the fight, too. I can’t keep standing around!" She got to her feet as her energy recovered to its lower limit.

It was unlikely that Alexia would be able to use the frost seal again with such a low level of power, but it was enough to summon her Nexus and fight against the monsters.

Adam’s new ability possessed impressive power, but since Alexia had absorbed the Ancient Frost, she was now one step above Adam. She had more energy, and it was denser than his.

Once they dealt with all the monsters, they would be one step closer to victory.

"Agh?"

Unfortunately for them, Vaarh understood this as well.

That’s why he intervened before it was too late.

Clang!

Sparks flew from the iron spear, which, unlike everything else, was able to block Adam’s imaginary blades.

This caught Alexia’s attention as she blinked several times.

"He decided to protect the monsters?"

"You should take advantage of this." Louis’s voice rang in her head. "The monsters are too afraid of Adam and you. I doubt they’ll help Vaarh. This is your chance to attack him 1 vs. 2."

That was all Alexia needed as she grinned widely and clenched her fists together.

"Alright, then it’s time to show this arrogant dragon what we’re capable of!"

Step.

She stomped on the ground before lunging forward, leaving a crater behind her.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

Vaarh swung his spear at record speed to block each of Adam’s strikes.

Even though Adam had two blades and Vaarh only had his spear, the length of the shaft was more than enough for him.

It couldn’t help but make Adam frown when another cascade of sparks flew past him.

’Something’s wrong.’ Adam became alert. ’How can this be? I’m moving at tremendous speed, I don’t know how much longer my body can take it, yet he sees all my movements and finds a way to block my attacks.’

Perhaps Adam would change his tactics and break the distance to attack Vaarh from the other side.

But, at that moment, he sensed something.

"Hmm?" His eyes widened as a cold gust of wind came from the side.

BAM!

The ice fist slammed into Vaarh’s jaw on the right.

Even he couldn’t have predicted such an attack.

His face contorted with a mixture of pain and surprise as the impact threw his body sideways at tremendous speed.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

With his back, Vaarh smashed several ice peaks in his path before doing a somersault in the air and landing firmly on his feet.

Adam turned to see a jubilant Alexia standing before him.

"Hell yeah! Direct hit! Did you see that punch, Adam?!" She exclaimed, clenching her fist.

Vaarh frowned.

"Tsk, you’re not a Phantom, but a wild beast."

He spat out a clot of blood and cracked his jaw. Even though it was just one punch, it was strong enough to cause Vaarh problems.

Still... Adam didn’t rush to celebrate his victory.

Instead of ordering the monsters to help him or trying to get into a better position, Vaarh just stood in a fighting stance.

He waved his hand as electrical discharges ran through his body, giving him a surge of strength.

Adam and Alexia exchanged glances. Insidious smirks appeared on their faces simultaneously.

They didn’t need to say anything; the sparkle in their eyes and a slight nod were enough for them to spring into action.

Whoooooooosh.

Their frames shook as they simultaneously vanished from the spot, heading towards Vaarh.

The monsters who were still afraid to confront Adam and Alexia looked puzzled. They didn’t understand why Vaarh had decided to go for it.

Moreover, they didn’t believe that a single monster was capable of standing up to Phantoms like Adam and Alexia.

But that was exactly why Vaarh was going to do it. He knew the limits of his powers, and he was still far from reaching them.

’Come on, attack.’

Vaarh blinked as Adam and Alexia appeared right in front of him. Now he had to block and dodge not only two imaginary blades, but also Alexia’s icy fists.

However, there was no fear in Vaarh’s eyes. It seemed that he did not consider defeat an option at all.

Clang!

The two blades crashed into his spear as Alexia lunged forward. Her fist was covered in dense energy, heading straight for Vaarh’s side. A direct hit from such an attack would be enough to break several of his ribs and cause internal bleeding.

But... Vaarh saw everything.

THUMP!

He raised his leg and, with a sharp movement, pinned Alexia’s wrist to the ground.

"Agh?" Alexia’s eyes widened in disbelief.

Without hesitation, Vaarh turned his torso and slammed his knee straight into Alexia’s face with all his might.

Blood gushed from her mouth, but Vaarh no longer looked at her as he turned his attention back to Adam, who was preparing for his next attack.

Clang. Clang. Clang.

The blades and iron spear clashed several times per second, causing Adam’s hands to tremble and sweat to bead on Vaarh’s face.

Neither of them was going to give up.

Adam’s eyes narrowed as he lunged forward, hoping to reach Vaarh’s chest with his blades.

But...

That was exactly what Vaarh was waiting for.

Whooooooosh.

He thrust his spear into the ground like a staff and, grabbing the shaft with both hands, rose above the ground before slamming both feet straight into Adam’s stomach.

"GRH!"

The sharp pain was reflected on Adam’s face as the impact threw him into the nearest ice peak.

"What now?" Vaarh’s arrogant voice rang out as he waved his spear.

Alexia wiped the blood from her nose and glanced at Adam, who was climbing out from under the icy debris.

They needed a new plan, and fast.

Luckily for both of them, Silvana had one.

"Adam, I know what we need to do."
