Endless Evolution: Last Star

Chapter 1600 1600: Flaming Eye Clan

Chapter 1600 1600: Flaming Eye Clan

As Ramilo said, the Ice Path was a convenient and fast method of transportation for everyone in the Primal Lands and far beyond, but it was far from the safest.

For someone like Goen, there could be no threat, as there was hardly anyone here who was as strong and who, for some reason, had a conflict with him. But the same could not be said for Adam and Alexia, even if Ramilo was with them.

But the man just appeared out of nowhere on the far end of the earthworm.

Despite the unknown guest, the earthworm continued its movement. Even if there were an entire army on its back, it would not be a reason to stop, because moving along the tunnels was its goal.

Step. Step. Step.

The man continued to move forward slowly. He said nothing, but there was no need to. His outfit, the gleam in his eyes, the slight devious smile, and his pale skin with contrasting black hair spoke of his intentions for him.

Adam became alert. He felt nothing from the man, as if the monster in front of him had no aura. Alexia frowned. She understood what this meant.

The man stopped, fixed his gaze on Adam for a few seconds, and turned to Ramilo.

"Ramilo, it's been a long time, hasn't it?"

In response, Ramilo leaned on his palm with a bored look.

"Yeah... I'd be happy if we didn't see each other for as long as that."

"Huh, you're still the same as ever. I see you have two guests here, though..." He looked at Alexia with disgust. "Only one of them is worth paying attention to."

Anger covered Alexia's face. No one dared to look at her that way.

"You! Piece of—!"

Before she could finish, Ramilo interrupted her:

"Zargos, what do you want? I don't remember having any conflict with the Flaming Eye Clan."

Adam's pupils narrowed. 'The Flaming Eye Clan? Right, Goen and Ramilo talked about it. Besides the Old Light, there are also the clans in the Primal Lands. So... This man is one of them?'

This could not be good news, as it showed that Zargos was not just a random monster looking for a fight. He had influence, and that gave him confidence.

"Oh, my clan has nothing to do with this. I'm sure they don't know what's going on here yet, and that's for the best."

Zargos began to pace around, gesturing with his hand as he spoke.

"The noise at Frost Ridge caught my attention. Imagine my surprise when I saw Adam Vinter fighting a monster that was beyond his level of power."

Ramilo narrowed his eyes.

"At that moment, you decided to attack him, but Goen stopped you? That's pretty lame, I won't lie."

However, Zargos did not frown, only the corners of his mouth rose.

"Oh, of course not. Even if Goen hadn't been there, I wouldn't have harmed him. I swear by the name of my clan."

At that moment, Ramilo's face became more serious. No matter what his attitude toward Zargos was, if he spoke that way, then it must be true.

"On the contrary, I planned to introduce myself to him, I even prepared myself, but..." Sadness filled Zargos's eyes. " When Goen appeared, I had to abandon my plan and be patient."

"Arh?" Alexia growled discontentedly. "If you didn't want to attack Adam, then why were you following us?"

Zargos waved his hand.

"Just pure curiosity. In our lands, it's not often that you get to see a warrior like Goen fight. But when the Befallen Crown attacked you, my joy knew no bounds!"

He stretched up dramatically, clenching the air.

"Not only did I see the First Knight in battle, but I realized that this was my chance. A chance to get a real treasure."

Zargos turned sharply, pointing at Adam.

"You, Adam Vinter! I simply cannot help but notice the Befallen Crown's interest in you! They need you, alive!"

"Hey! What about me!" Alexia exclaimed, pointing at herself. "I'm pretty strong too! I can beat Adam if I want to!"

With a dismissive expression, Zargos waved her away like an annoying fly.

"Nah, you lack the will. One fight is enough to understand everything about you. You have great potential, but terrible execution. Although if you're given a hundred or two hundred years, maybe you'll develop the same hunger as Adam."

Ramilo stared at Zargos.

"So... Did you come here to capture Adam Vinter?"

Zargos nodded silently.

"Why? You're a cunning bastard, but you're definitely not the type to let the Befallen Crown buy you."

"It's just profitable." Zargos spread his arms. "By capturing Adam Vinter, I'll have what they need, and they have what I need. Unlike those stupid Lords from the Crown Squad, I act on my own will, not on orders, and..."

His eyes grew deeper.

"I am significantly stronger than any of them."

Adam frowned.

"Still, you decided to wait until Goen left and only showed up now. Doesn't that mean you're just like those Lords?"

"Pffft!" Zargos snorted. "People often call me arrogant, but I understand the difference in power. Almost everyone here is weaker than Goen, and that needs to be fixed, now or in a thousand years, it doesn't matter. The deal with the Befallen Crown, the exchange for you, will be an important step toward that."

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Ramilo stood up and dusted off his knees.

"I see. In that case, there is no other choice. I will fight you. If I win, you will stay away from those two. You won't refuse a fair fight, will you?"

Zargos lifted his chin.

"Sure, but I'm not interested in that girl. I won't hurt her anyway."

"Well, even so, I can't give you Adam."

"I understand."

Ramilo raised one finger.

"But, I have one more condition: no abilities, just energy and our bodies. I don't want our skirmish to harm the Ice Path and the earthworm."

Strangely enough, Zargos accepted this condition without objection.

"Ready?"

Flames covered Zargos's fists, sending a chill down Adam and Alexia's spines.

Ramilo grinned widely, showing all his teeth.

"How could it be otherwise?"
