Chapter 1819: Azure Tooth
Chapter 1819: Azure Tooth
Adam thought his training at Tooth Lake had come to an end, since he had learned to use his aura to defend himself against an enemy’s aura, even if that aura emanated from something as large as an entire lake.
But she had one more task for him.
“Azure Tooth?” Adam raised an eyebrow in annoyance. “What’s that?”
Laroza waved her hand dismissively.
“Don’t overthink it. I’m not trying to make you bring me some rare treasure. You were so distracted by the monsters and the aura that you didn’t even glance at the bottom of this lake.”
“Agh?” Adam glanced at Tooth Lake. Laroza was right. He hadn’t had time to look closely at the details.
“The entire bottom of Tooth Lake is covered with teeth and fangs, mostly from monsters, but I think if you look hard enough, you can find a few teeth from the Phantoms. Hahaha!”
Adam frowned as he took a step back, standing in midair.
“You know that sounds pretty gross, right?”
“Well, maybe at the moment a tooth hits the bottom it is, but not now. Anyway, I need one blue tooth, there are plenty of them on the bottom. When you bring it to me, your training here will be considered complete.”
Laroza turned toward the Gray Sea, as a gust of wind ruffled her long crimson hair.
“If you can do this, it means you’ll be able to withstand the pressure of the Gray Sea as well. Without that skill, you have no business being there. You won’t lose to a powerful monster or a criminal, but to the territory itself, the waters will simply swallow you whole.”
Adam nodded deeply. He understood there was no point in rushing.
‘If Tooth Lake turned out to be this challenging, what awaits me at the Gray Sea? I must be prepared for anything!’
“Alright, I’ll find that azure tooth, but if all it takes is reaching the bottom, then you’re underestimating me. I’ll handle it in five minutes.”
Laroza crossed her arms over her chest and shrugged.
“Sure, go ahead, show me what you’re capable of. I don’t care how long it takes you, but if you’re not ready, I won’t let you go any further. You’ll die because of me, and-“
“And you’ll get in trouble because of it. I know.” Adam waved his hand before turning toward Tooth Lake. “Wait for me here. I’ll be back soon.”
Whooooosh!
Bouncing off the air, Adam headed straight for the surface of the lake.
Despite his last words, Laroza smirked and made her way to the edge of the cliff near her tower.
One step was enough for her to return to the hall, and with the next step, she appeared at the edge with a cold bottle of beer. She sat on the edge with one leg dangling, watching the confident Adam.
“Maybe you showed Tooth Lake who’s boss, but the deeper you go, the more trouble you’ll have,” she muttered before taking a sip.
SPLASH!
At that very moment, Adam plunged into Tooth Lake, rapidly approaching the bottom. Because of what he had done a couple of minutes earlier, the monsters didn’t attack him. They were afraid of him and simply swam nearby, watching from a distance.
Soon enough, something caught Adam’s eye as he saw sharp points below.
“Here!” Adam exclaimed inwardly when the bottom of Tooth Lake came into view.
Just as Laroza had said, the entire bottom was covered with fangs and teeth. Some were long and wide, others crooked, flat, or small.
Adam thought he’d have to search for the azure tooth, but a single glance was enough to spot at least a dozen blue teeth.
“This is it, right? She said she needed one blue tooth. Huh! I’ll do this in less than five minutes!” Adam smiled happily as he reached out his hand in anticipation.
However, before he could get close to the teeth at the bottom, something stopped him.
‘Agh…?’
Confused, Adam looked around, but neither monsters nor anything else was getting in his way.
‘What the hell?’
No matter how hard Adam tried to get closer to the bottom, he couldn’t. As soon as he swam down one meter, the pressure became significantly stronger, and he had to turn back.
‘How strange. The pressure here acts like a spring. The harder I try to push through it, the more resistance I face.’
Narrowing his eyes, Adam was able to see what he’d overlooked before.
The purple aura still permeated Tooth Lake, but at the very bottom lay something else, the blue veil flowed calmly across the bottom.
“I see, so that’s why Laroza had that smirk on her face. She knew I wouldn’t be able to do it right away. All this aura isn’t coming from the bottom but from these countless teeth, isn’t it?” Adam clenched his fists.
In fact, he had a simple solution to this problem. He could destroy part of the bottom with his abilities. In that case, there would be fewer teeth, and the blue aura would weaken significantly.
But what was the point of that?
Tooth Lake was his training ground. At the Gray Sea, he wouldn’t be able to destroy part of the bottom, the bottom would destroy him.
‘Agh…’ Adam sighed heavily inwardly. ‘Alright, I’ll keep trying as many times as it takes.’
…
For the next few hours, Laroza watched Adam’s attempts from the sidelines. She leisurely drank one bottle of beer after another, while Adam dove to the very bottom of Tooth Lake, trying to retrieve the azure tooth.
Laroza knew that sooner or later he would succeed. She could see it.
“At first, I thought it would take me a few days to train this guy, but it turned out all it took was one productive evening,” Laroza thought, taking a sip of beer. “Aiden sent him here for a reason, but what is that bastard up to? Apparently, Adam still knows far too little about him.”
SPLASH!
With the next splash, Adam emerged, holding a large blue fang in his hand.
Laroza smiled, raising her beer bottle.
“Alright, he passed.”
