Endless Evolution: Last Star

Chapter 2005: Granite Crypt

Chapter 2005: Granite Crypt

A single attack.

Usually, that was enough to end the fight, but only when it was the final clash and both fighters had poured all their remaining strength or their last trump cards into that attack.

Durand used his strongest trump cards, but he wasn’t ready for the final clash, and neither was Kamora. All she did was harness the power of her Operator. Lamor had given her a searing light as well as a hammer, which she combined with her Gray Jaw.

Well, there wouldn’t be a final clash between them, and perhaps Kamora knew this, but Durand didn’t.

He didn’t expect that after just a single attack, he would suffer such devastating injuries.

In fact, Durand hadn’t realized it yet, at least not fully.

His entire right side, whether it was the handle of his scythe, his shoulder, his leg, or his side with ribs and flesh, was devoured in a single bite from the golden jaw.

This was the result of just one of Kamora’s strikes, and it was unlikely that Durand would survive it.

Tremble!

All the energy Durand had left rushed to his right side in a desperate attempt to heal the wound.

He was lucky that Kamora’s strike had landed on his shoulder. Otherwise, he would have lost half his head as well.

“You won’t succeed!” Kamora exclaimed as she grinned widely, revealing all her sharp, shark-like teeth.

Before Durand could react, her fist slammed into his jaw, filled with searing light.

A burn mark immediately formed on his jaw as the impact sent him flying to the side.

Blood gushed from Durand’s mouth through two wounds at once as he moved toward the clouds hovering high above, like a second level of heaven.

Well, Kamora had no intention of letting him get that far, and Lamor agreed with her.

“We have to end this right here and now.” His voice rang out beside Kamora.

Kamora smirked.

“Yeah, I know. That’s exactly what I plan to do, but we have to show our young Phantom everything, don’t we?”

Whoooosh!

Kamora darted forward as her figure turned into a blur.

In the blink of an eye, she appeared above Durand, who was trying to regain his composure but was barely managing it.

“Y-You…!”

Durand’s voice trembled as Kamora, ready to deliver her next strike, reflected in his eyes.

“Stop!”

Kamora smirked.

“No. This is all going to end now, and you’ll become a real dead fish.”

Tremble.

Kamora’s hands trembled as they transformed into monster-like limbs made of red stone, filled with scarlet fire shooting upward.

“This will be the final strike – for you!!!”

With an excitement that even Adam rarely showed, Kamora brought her hammer down on Durand once more.

This time, she didn’t use the golden jaw, it was a strike filled with her and Lamor’s powers.

BLAST!

The amber blast with a gray hue spread across the dark sky as the impact sent Durand plummeting downward at tremendous speed.

Right from the start, his remaining leg and arm were broken, and his ribs on the left side were pushed outward by the pressure that crashed down on him.

However, Durand still had a chance to get out of there alive, and Adam and Silvana noticed it.

“Wait…” Silvana muttered, looking at the water’s surface. “If he falls in there, he’ll be able to escape!”

However, Adam disagreed.

“Nah. Kamora won’t let that happen.”

“Hmm?” Silvana was puzzled.

Adam pointed ahead.

“Kamora will easily find him underwater, especially given his wounds, but she won’t let him sink beneath the surface.”

As if Kamora had heard him, at that moment her arms changed again.

Now her arms were made of granite, with blue crystals growing on their surface. In some ways, they resembled the legs she had used before, but there were differences as well.

Tap.

She let go of her hammer as it remained hovering beside her. After all, that hammer was Lamor. Even though he wasn’t in his human form, he was still a living being who could control his own actions.

After that, Kamora clenched her hands as the water’s surface trembled.

Her eyes shone brightly.

“You won’t escape me. I’ll create your very own grave for myself. You should be grateful for that.”

Durand turned around as a blue glow appeared in the depths of the Gray Sea.

Then, a multitude of blue flashes shot to the surface at great speed.

Each flash was a tall granite pillar. There were twelve of them in total, forming an outer circle.

Smaller pillars began to grow between each of the main pillars. They intertwined with one another, forming a very dense grid with no gaps, and soon, tall walls appeared between the main pillars.

Only one passage remained open, facing Adam.

Following the pillars, a massive platform rose up, completing this arena for the time being.

As a result, Durand had to land on the cold stone instead of heading to the bottom of the Gray Sea, where he would have had at least some chance of hiding and saving his life.

Durand’s eyes widened, filled with fear and mounting despair.

Clasp.

He clenched his hand into a fist, intending to punch through the granite, but when he struck, he felt only a dull pain in his fist. Considering the condition of his arm, that was already a good result on his part.

Tap.

Kamora landed on the ground as her arms remained in their current form.

She had created an arena, but this was only an intermediate step. As soon as she was done with Durand, she would create a grave for him, a real crypt just for him.

Kamora glanced back as Adam understood her gesture.

Tap.

He touched the white-and-black shark’s head as it looked at him.

“Go ahead. She left this passage for us. She wants us to look. Don’t be afraid. As long as you’re inside the barrier, you have nothing to fear.”

The shark hesitated for a few moments before moving forward.

Silvana, in turn, looked up at Kamora’s hammer, which was hovering high in the sky – it was slowly descending.

When she kills Durand, Lamor will be right beside her.

Silvana bit her lip, feeling both envy and anxiety.

‘Very soon. When we return to the Citadel, Adam will be closer than ever to the Second Circle!’
