Chapter 2006: It’s Time to Go Home

Step. Step. Step.

Adam walked across the granite surface while the black-and-white shark remained outside. However, it had a clear view of everything happening, with Kamora and Durand at the center of the scene.

“Looks like you turned out to be the stronger one?” Adam looked at Kamora, a slight smile on his face.

When he saw who this mysterious Second Rank Phantom was, he realized Kamora would win. In some ways, the two of them were alike.

The corner of Kamora’s mouth turned up.

“Huh, did you have any doubts about me? Of course I won, it couldn’t have been any other way!”

Adam looked at Durand, who could barely move, crawling across the ground.

Just a few minutes ago, Durand had possessed enough strength to single-handedly kill dozens of Lords, both Lesser Lords and Ascended Lords. But now, he wouldn’t even have enough strength to break down a simple wall.

“You… You’ll regret this…!” Durand growled, blood streaming from his mouth.

As a True Lord, he took pride in his power and achievements. He had no intention of begging her to spare his life.

Still, like any creature, he didn’t want to die.

“The Befallen Crown. They’ll never forgive you for this!”

Durand stared at Adam.

“And you… Even if you someday become a Second Rank Phantom, the Befallen Crown will do everything in their power to stop you! You won’t live to see the next World Wipe! You can be sure of that!”

Strangely enough, no fear or wariness appeared in Adam’s eyes. On the contrary, for some reason, his gaze grew lighter, and a bitter smile appeared on his face.

“Yes. I hope so.”

His answer puzzled Durand. He didn’t understand what had caused Adam to react that way.

“W-Why? Why are you smiling?”

Adam decided to answer him. After all, Durand wouldn’t hear anything else. These were his final moments. He wouldn’t die from the bleeding or these wounds, his body was too strong, but Kamora would finish her work. It was inevitable.

“Because I don’t want to see the next World Wipe.”

Suddenly, Kamora spun around, her eyes widening for a moment.

“If that happens, it will mean that I’ve lost. It’s that simple. So your words, I hope they come true.”

“An interesting stance.”

That voice belonged neither to Kamora nor to Durand. It came from Lamor, a hammer that had flown toward Kamora.

“Yes, very interesting.” Kamora nodded, confirming his words. “But right now, we have another, no less important task before us.”

Clutch.

Kamora gripped her hammer tightly before stepping in front of Durand.

“Any last words?”

Durand frowned.

“One day, our world will finally be rid of humanity!”

Kamora shrugged.

“Even if that ever happens, you won’t be around to see it.”

The next moment, she brought her hammer down on Durand.

BLAST!

The full force of her strike coursed through Durand’s body, leaving only a bloodstain and a few shreds of flesh in its place.

The crimson drops fell onto Adam’s face, but he didn’t react to them. Over the course of his long journey, he had witnessed many deaths far worse than this one.

He was interested in something else.

“These pieces,” he pointed to the bloody flesh, “considering how strong he was, could he have some way to regenerate just from this?”

Kamora blinked.

“Oh, how pragmatic of you. I didn’t expect that from you.”

She touched her chin with a pensive expression.

“Let me think… In theory, it’s certainly possible, but only if there were several True Lords here with the right abilities. But that’s not the case, in fact…”

Kamora looked to the side as a sly smirk appeared on her face.

“I have an idea that will suit all of us.”

“Hmm?” Adam tilted his head. “What are you talking about?”

Tap.

Kamora tapped her foot on the ground as the crystals on her arms flashed.

The granite platform shattered, clearing the way for a black-and-white shark. It swam forward, stopping in front of where most of the flesh shreds were.

“I can tell by its eyes that it’s waiting for something. Looks like you and this shark made some kind of deal?”

Adam nodded.

“Yeah, something like that. I asked it to help me get here, and in return, I promised to give this shark all the energy I can restore.”

Kamora looked at Adam, then at the shark.

“How about a new deal? I’ll give you everything that’s left of that bastard, there’s more energy in one of his fingers than in all of Adam. How does that sound?”

No sooner had she said this than the shark’s eyes lit up as it nodded vigorously.

“Huh… It agreed so quickly. Now I’m even a little upset.”

“Pffft!” Kamora snorted. “Any monster would do the same. It makes sense!”

Then, she jerked her head. “Alright, go on. Eat everything in front of you, then get out of here, and don’t let me see you again.”

Not wanting to test Kamora’s patience, the shark lunged forward, quickly swallowing one piece of flesh after another.

In less than ten seconds, all that remained on the granite platform was a pool of blood and a few scraps of fabric from Durand’s coat.

After that, the shark cast one last glance at Adam and swam as far away from the granite arena as possible.

Silence.

Silence hung in the air for a while. Adam and Kamora said nothing, and only the gusts of wind swept past them.

“What now?” Adam asked, turning to Kamora.

Kamora spread her arms wide.

“It’s up to you. You have to understand that this is the first time I’ve ever heard or seen you, kiddo.”

Tremble.

Her hammer trembled as Lamor appeared beside her.

Silvana, who had been following Adam, froze. Up close, Lamor looked even better than from a distance. His jaw could cut through glass, and his face could easily break hundreds of hearts.

Somehow, the pair reminded her of Alexia and Louis. There was a similar dynamic between them, though their level was much lower.

“This young man is far more interesting than you think, Kamora.”

Lamor smiled, glancing at Adam over his eyebrow.

“What do you say, Adam Vinter? I think your journey at the Gray Sea should come to an end, and this is the best moment for it, isn’t it?”

In response, Adam smiled bitterly and nodded.

“Yeah, I guess you’re right. It’s time to go home.”
