Chapter 663: The Prophecy Of The Aetherion Empire [Part 2]

At first, Luthor thought Alex merely felt confused after hearing about his past. However, the young man’s face had soon lost all of its color, prompting him to stop his tale about his childhood.

"Are you alright?" Luthor asked. "Your face is really pale."

"S-Sir Luthor, my memories of my childhood," Alex replied while grasping his head. "It’s being erased."

It was then when the old man finally realized what was happening.

"It must be the seal Nero has placed on your soul," Luthor stated. "I thought the power of the seal only makes you forget about your past. But it seems like it is only reactivated when a special condition is met. Possibly memories related to the Aetherion Empire.

"I wouldn’t put it past Nero to add some safeguards just in case I told you something about your past. Just calm down for now. It will pass."

Alex nodded and tried to clear his head. He stopped thinking about the Aetherion Empire and began shifting his thoughts to something else.

’Happy thoughts,’ Alex said inside his head. ’Think about happy thoughts. Think about happy thoughts!’

A moment later, the image of Fran and Lavinia wearing their nightdresses in front of him appeared inside his head.

Alex didn’t know whether he should laugh or cry. Of all the things he could envision, this was the first scene he thought of.

Even so, the pain in his head decreased considerably until eventually, only a faint numbing feeling remained.

However, a different sensation began to stir in his body, making him heat up thanks to the images his imagination had conjured.

The scene of his head being sandwiched between Fran and Lavinia’s chests was so powerful that he stopped worrying about any kind of prophecy.

Maybe the twin suns the prophecy was talking about weren’t really suns, but twin mountains instead?

"Alex?" Luthor lightly tapped the young man’s cheeks, who seemed to be in some kind of pain. "Are you alright? Your face is beet red. Is it the seal? Are you in pain?!"

"I-It’s not the seal!" Alex replied as soon as he was woken up from his daydream. "I’m fine. What were we talking about earlier?"

"About the prophecy of your birth," Luthor replied while looking anxiously at the young man’s flushed face. "Are you really okay? Should I take you to the infirmary?"

"I’m fine, Uncle." Alex lightly tapped his own cheeks in order to calm himself down.

While his memories of his childhood were being erased, a particular memory remained. One from his childhood, back when he repeatedly called the Guardian of the North Uncle.

The old knight’s face softened a bit after Alex had called him Uncle. It had been many years since the last time he heard it, which made him feel a little nostalgic.

"I guess it’s still too early for us to talk about your past." Luthor shook his head helplessly. "Maybe we should ask Nero to break the seal first so you can remember everything on your own."

"Uncle, do I really have to remember my past?" Alex asked in a serious tone. "Right now, I am very happy with my current life. Also, I don’t care about the Aetherion Empire. They can have the throne, and I won’t lose my sleep over it."

The young man stared at his guardian’s eyes, showing him that he truly preferred his current life over his old one.

"Perhaps it’s for the best that you don’t remember." Luthor conceded. "However, Alex, do not forget. Sometimes, a person often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it."

"Uncle, I’ll cross that bridge when we get there."

"Famous last words."

*Burp*

The little bun that had been quietly listening since earlier burped after drinking a can of Cola Cola with a straw.

This little icebreaker made Alex chuckle. Then, he asked the little bun to give him a can of Cola Cola as well.

"Dim!" Dim Dim didn’t hesitate and handed Alex and Luthor a can of the carbonated drink, which made the old Guardian look at the can closely. He had no idea what it was, but it was cold to the touch, making him wonder where on earth the little bun got this thing.

Of course, he had seen Dim Dim chug these cans in the past, but he never knew what was inside of it.

But since he also saw the little bun taking out bamboo steamers out of thin air filled with food, Luthor decided to just toss his confusion aside and try this drink he was going to taste for the first time in his life.

Though, there was one problem.

"How do you open this can?" Luthor asked.

"Uncle, you open it like this," Alex said, hooking his finger under the small metal tab on top of the can.

He gave it a light pull, and soon, the sharp hiss of escaping gas cut through the air. A sizzling sound followed next.

Luthor’s brows rose slightly at the unfamiliar sound. His gaze sharpened as if he were observing some kind of peculiar artifact.

He watched as Alex took a sip before he tried it himself. The moment the sweet and sizzling carbonated drink filled his mouth, Luthor felt as if countless bubbles were popping on his tongue.

"...Interesting," Luthor muttered before taking another sip.

Alex couldn’t help but grin after seeing his uncle drink Cola Cola for the first time.

"It’s better than mead, right?" Alex asked.

"It’s too sweet for my taste," Luthor replied. "But it’s not that bad. I can get used to this."

Seeing that the old knight seemed happy, Dim Dim took out some bamboo steamers filled with meat buns.

The talks about the prophecies of the Aetherion Empire, as well as an overprotective Vampire Lord, soon faded away as the three happily ate their afternoon snack together.

Luthor still felt a bit worried. After all, the prophecy of Alex’s birth sounded very ominous. But he also realized that excessive worrying would not help him at this point in time.

Just as Alex had said earlier, they would cross that bridge when they got there.

For now, he decided to watch over the young prince as he enjoyed his current life, which was filled with trials that would continue to shape Alex until the prophesied time had come.
