Endless Leveling Done Right!

Chapter 707: Do I Look Like Her Nanny?

Chapter 707: Do I Look Like Her Nanny?

“Who knew an Alchemy Competition could be this exciting?” Latifa said with a smile.

“Right.” Alex nodded in agreement.

The Third and Fourth Year alchemists who participated in the tournament had their own special flames for alchemy.

They were called Heavenly Flames, and when they were used, they took on different forms.

Some took the form of dragons, some took the form of phoenixes, while others took the form of other beasts that looked magnificent in their own right.

There was even an exhibition match where these flames clashed against each other, looking like two behemoths fighting for dominion.

It was then that Alex remembered the blue flames Reverse Alex had used against him.

Those blue flames had taken the form of a dragon, which made him feel like it could annihilate everything in its path.

Although he did his best to defend against it, he was not a match against its sheer destructive power.

However, that encounter made him realize that his reverse self must have held back. The flames did hurt him a bit, but it wasn’t to the level of being lethal.

Still, the thing that concerned him the most back then was the fact that those blue flames actually entered his body, which made him feel lethargic for a few days.

Even now, Alex believed that those very same flames were still inside his body, merely lying dormant.

‘Is that perhaps a manifestation of a Heavenly Flame?’ Alex mused.

As someone who had played ELO in the past, he happened to know the locations of some of these powerful Heavenly Flames that could be used for either battle or alchemy.

However, he’d never encountered that blue draconic flame Reverse Alex had used.

‘Just where did he get it?’ Alex pondered.

If he knew where he could obtain that flame, then wouldn’t it increase his fighting ability drastically?

“Alex. Hey, can you hear me?”

Latifa tugged at Alex’s clothes because he hadn’t been responding to her calls. The young man was too preoccupied with his thoughts to the point that he was walking on autopilot, unaware of his surroundings.

“Sorry. What were you saying again?” Alex asked, feeling apologetic.

“I said, the singing competition is tomorrow,” Latifa said. “You should rest early tonight and don’t let Evangeline or Lotte enter your room no matter what.”

Lavinia, who walked on Alex’s left side, nodded in agreement. She only learned what happened last night because Latifa told her about it during breakfast.

Although Alex looked well right now, losing some of his blood and his… essence would probably be detrimental to his performance the next day.

“How about the two of you stay with me tonight to make sure I will get a good night’s rest?” Alex proposed.

Lavinia and Latifa glanced at each other in response before nodding in agreement. They believed that if they were there to guard Alex, he would be able to sleep better.

Yet the young man’s vampire lover had a different opinion.

“Are you sure about that?” Evangeline asked in a teasing tone. She was walking right behind Alex and overheard their conversation. “What if the two of you became the ones who suddenly lost control and attacked Alex? Wouldn’t that be problematic?”

“Don’t worry. That won’t happen,” Lavinia replied with confidence. “I have good self-control.”

“I-I also have good self-control,” Latifa commented. “As long as Alex doesn’t start fluffing my tail and start whispering sweet words in my ear, I’ll be fine… probably.”

Fortunately, their group was at the rear of the Frieden Academy group, so no one could hear what they were talking about.

If Chuck had been there, he might have already told them to tone down their PDA until they arrived at their own rooms.

Just as they were walking past the plaza, Alex saw Renard and Lady Celestria walking side by side.

They then entered an alley together, which made the young man arch an eyebrow.

A part of him wondered why they went there. However, he made no move to investigate. Although he was curious, he respected the private life of the Heroes and Heroines.

However, a second later, he saw Kenric arrive at the plaza. The young man looked around as if trying to look for someone among the crowd.

‘Ah. So that’s it,’ Alex thought. ‘Now I understand.’

Kenric was one of Renard’s love rivals for Lady Celestria’s affection. It seemed that the Saintess was trying to hide from this persistent suitor of hers, so she had chosen to head to the alley to evade his pursuit.

“Good luck, Renard,” Alex muttered.

“Why would Renard need good luck?” Lavinia asked after overhearing what Alex had said.

“Because he needs it.”

“For what?”

“For a happy future?” Alex chuckled.

Though his chuckle didn’t last long because he spotted Melissa in the crowd.

The young lady also seemed to be looking for someone. When she saw Alex’s group, she immediately headed in their direction.

“Hey, Alex. Have you seen Renard?” Melissa asked. “I asked them to wait for me here because I needed to buy something in that shop. I was only gone for a few minutes, but the two of them were no longer there when I returned.”

The young lady was one of the competitors whom Renard had fought in the Kingdom of Solara. They became close friends after their match ended.

She was also one of Renard’s heroines, even a fan favorite because she was beautiful and bold. She was a complete package, and any man would be happy to have a lover.

It seemed that she and Lady Celestria had also become good friends because they shared the same taste in men.

“Kenric arrived, so the two headed to that alley over there,” Alex whispered in Melissa’s ear.

“Ah! So that’s what happened.” Melissa nodded in understanding.

The young lady then frowned as she looked at Kenric, who was still at the plaza. When Kenric saw Melissa, he walked toward her without hesitation.

“Where is Lady Celestria?” Kenric asked. “I was assigned by the academy to be her personal guard during her stay here at Everdawn, but she is nowhere to be found.”

“Why are you asking me?” Melissa shrugged. “Do I look like her nanny?”

“Aren’t the two of you friends?” Kenric argued.

“You also have friends, right?” Melissa arched an eyebrow in return. “Do you know where they are at all times?”

Kenric didn’t have a comeback to that question, so he scoffed and left to head to the side street that led to the market area of the city.

“He’s finally gone.” Melissa clicked her tongue. “Nobles are really a pain in the ass. See you later, Alex. And thank you.”

After making sure that Kenric was no longer around, Melissa headed to the alley to follow her friends.

However, as if waiting for that moment, Kenric appeared half a minute later, trailing behind Melissa.

Alex could already tell that a drama was about to unfold.

His only regret was that he wouldn’t be there to see it!

A/N: I know that I should be writing 2 chapters everyday, and I feel bad about not being able to do it.

But, my sleep has been a mess for the past few weeks, and the brain fog is real. I’ll see if I can do a mass release in the first week of June to make up for the shortcomings.
