Chapter 721: Preparation For The Ball
Chapter 721: Preparation For The Ball
“Are you sure I can borrow this dress, Xenia?” Nessia asked as she looked at herself in the mirror.
“This is a special occasion, so why not?’ Princess Xenia replied. “I’d hate to see you and Charles go to the ball later with just uniforms. This should be a memorable night for you and your partner. In other words, dressing up is important!”
“Well, I’m not complaining,” Nessia admitted.
At the end of the day, she was still a girl. Plus, who didn’t like to dress up for the sake of their lover?
‘Don’t worry, I asked Chuck and Vaan to take Charles to the barber shop and the men’s store,” Mary commented from the side. “You won’t see him until the party starts because we all agreed that it will be better for both of you to be surprised.”
“It’s no longer a surprise if I know what is coming,” Nessia replied.
“That may be true.” Princess Xenia agreed. “But the impact will still be there. Don’t worry. Mary will doll you up so good that Charles might start feeling anxious about other men snatching you away from him.”
“Leave it to me, Your Highness.” Mary patted her chest proudly. “I’ll make Charles understand that if he breaks up with her, it will be his loss.”
“No one’s going to break up,” Nessia complained, her face blushing like a girl seeing her crush. “How about the others? Aren’t you also going to help them dress up?”
“Are you talking about Latifa and Lavinia?” Princess Xenia asked. “I offered to help them at first, but they said they already had plans. Lotte told me that they have even prepared a dress for Fran so Alex would fall head over heels for her all over again.”
“Aren’t the two of them already a couple?” Nessia blinked.
“Yes. But when have you seen Fran dress up? It’s either her school uniform or farmer’s clothes.” Princess Xenia grinned. “I’m sure the moment she wears something pretty, Alex would definitely fawn over her.”
“Oh, I get that feeling.” Nessia nodded. “Seriously, how can he have so many lovers?”
“Well, I guess you’re a bit lucky in that area. At least you get to have Charles for yourself.” Princess Xenia sighed. “So make sure that both of you stay happy, okay?”
Mary didn’t say anything and simply lowered her head. She had developed feelings for Chuck while serving under the princess.
At first, she just wanted to beat him up because he was annoying. But after she saw his manly and dependable side, Mary suddenly had a different impression of him.
Those feelings accumulated over time, and eventually, the punishment that she gave him became her way of getting close to him.
One thing led to another, and soon enough, she found herself in Chuck’s embrace while not having the will to push him away.
“By the way, I overheard Alex and Chuck talking yesterday about your brother inviting an elf this evening to become his dance partner,” Nessia said. “Do you know who she is?”
“My brother invited an elf to be his partner at tonight’s ball?” Princess Xenia blinked before glancing in Mary’s direction.
Mary shook her head firmly. Clearly, this was also news to her.
“My brother doesn’t actively chase girls due to his position,” Princess Xenia said. “In fact, I asked him one time who his ideal lover was. All he told me was that he wants someone older than him. Specifically, someone who has experienced many ups and downs in life.
“Someone who has felt pain, happiness, sadness, and loneliness throughout their lifetime. That way, she would treasure him, and in return, he would treasure her and ask her to guide him through life.”
“I didn’t know Prince Edward was a hopeless romantic,” Nessia replied with a smile.
“Tell me about it.” Princess Xenia sighed helplessly. “But an elf, huh? I guess that fits his preferences perfectly. Some elves look like teenagers even when they are already over a hundred years old. Now I’m very curious about who my brother will take to the ball.”
While the three ladies were trying on different clothes that were specifically brought for Nessia, the fox ladies were also having fun dressing up Fran.
“Oh my god…” Lumi muttered. “You are like a living doll, Fran. That pink ribbon on your clothes is criminal.”
“I-I don’t feel comfortable in these clothes.” Fran fidgeted. “Can we choose something else?”
“Of course,” Latifa replied with a smile. “We have so many dresses that we want you to try.”
Then, as if proving her point, Lotte wheeled over a garment rack loaded with so many dresses that it looked like she had robbed an entire boutique.
“W-What?!” Fran immediately felt alarmed after seeing so many dresses with different designs and colors.
“All of them have an auto-size function, so you don’t need to hold back.” Lulu smirked. “We are going to dress you up like a birthday present for Alex. And maybe, just maybe, he will be so infatuated with you that he will take you to his room tonight and *beep* you.”
Latifa, Lotte, and Lumi didn’t think that Fran’s face could get any redder.
They were wrong.
The dwarf was blushing so hard at that moment that even the tips of her ears were already red!
Lulu wasn’t able to hold back and hugged her so tightly, making Latifa sigh.
“Alex better thank me for this,” Latifa muttered.
Since Fran was one of her sisters, she didn’t mind dressing her up for this special night. In fact, she was already looking forward to seeing Alex’s reaction the moment he laid his eyes on Frann.
“Alright, that’s enough.” Latifa clapped her hands. “We still have so many dresses to try on, so let’s work hard until the party starts.”
“”Yes!””
Fran was embarrassed, yes, but she was also secretly happy about the thought of wearing beautiful clothes.
She wanted Alex to compliment her tonight at the ball. Although she didn’t know how to dance, she hoped that he would invite her to one.

Inside Alex’s room…
“Hachoo!”
The young man rubbed his nose before looking out of the window of his room.
“One of my lovers must be thinking about me,” Alex muttered. “I wonder who it is.”
He then shifted his attention to Dim Dim, who was doing some kind of online shopping.
The little bun was looking for a bow tie and a small hat to wear at the party.
Earlier, Eiko sent a message, saying that she would drop by the Kingdom of Faelarun, so Dim Dim replied and invited her to the ball.
Surprisingly, Eiko agreed. And because of that, Dim Dim seemed to want to dress up a bit and was taking its online shopping seriously.
