Chapter 725: Falling In Love All Over Again
Chapter 725: Falling In Love All Over Again
Just as Alex had expected, Dim Dim and Eiko became the stars of the party.
The ladies of Frieden Academy fawned on them, feeding the two with whatever food they wanted to eat.
It was then that Alex realized that despite their cute, pocket-size human forms, the two kids had a very large appetite.
Dim Dim was already a big eater even in his little bun form. As for Eiko, she was a baby slime. He had no idea how much baby slimes could eat, but from everything he had seen so far, eating a lot didn’t pose any problem.
“Both of you did an amazing job,” Alex said while leaning on the wall.
“Naturally,” Lily replied with a smug smile on her face.
“This is very easy for us.” Cupid didn’t hesitate to toot his own horn. Then again, since they really did a good job, Alex had no complaints whatsoever.
He talked to them discreetly lest others think he was talking to himself like a madman. Lily and Cupid were Gods. Unless they allowed someone to see them, they would remain invisible in the naked eye.
While everyone’s focus was on the two kids, Alex’s gaze wandered off to the doorway.
As if on cue, Astrea and Cassian made their entrance.
The lucky girl was wearing a purple dress, which complimented the color of her hair and eyes.
On the other hand, Cassian wore a black tuxedo, escorting his sister with a big smile on his face.
Astrea’s victory as the Singing Queen made her the talk of the three academies. And frankly, Cassian was too busy gatekeeping his sister from the guys who were all coming to see her to propose their love for her.
Alex watched the two head to the Frieden Academy’s section. Unsurprisingly, Astrea joined the ladies in pampering Eiko and Dim Dim, giggling happily while doing so because of how cute they were.
Suddenly, the young man heard someone talk beside him.
“Why are you here?”
He then turned to look at Lapiz, who was wearing a white princess dress. At the moment, she looked so pure like an untainted flower, making it difficult for Alex to keep his eyes off of her.
“I’m just taking a short break,” Alex replied.
“Waiting for someone?” Lapiz asked as she leaned on the wall beside him, holding a champagne glass in her hand.
“Something like that.”
“Are you perhaps waiting for Latifa and your other lovers?”
It wasn’t a secret in the club that Alex was seeing Latifa, Lavinia, Evangeline, and Fran. In fact, this was the reason why Aeris had warned her sister not to get close to their club president. A man dating that many ladies was a womanizer.
“Yes, I am,” Alex replied.
Lapiz took a sip of the champagne in her hands in response. She was trying her best not to become too conscious of Alex.
Yet, it was impossible.
Ever since he confessed to her, she became more aware of his existence.
Every little thing he did, every accomplishment he gained from the Inter-Academy Tournament… Lapiz realized how outstanding he was as a man.
The same man who confessed his feelings to her.
“Alex…”
“Yes?”
“Nevermind.”
Lapiz took another sip of champagne from her glass. She had never been the bold type of person, and being courageous was far from her default setting.
She was fine with watching from the side and letting things flow naturally. Though, while she was deep in thought, she heard Alex call out her name.
“Lapiz, do you want to dance with me later?” Alex asked.
Before she could even stop herself, a firm “yes” escaped her lips.
She had originally planned to ask Alex if he wished to dance with her later. However, she was too shy to invite him.
Fortunately, Alex took the initiative to invite her for a dance, which she readily agreed to.
Alex then shifted his attention toward Aeris, who was now moving in their direction.
“Is that a look of irritation I’m seeing on your face?” Aeris asked as soon as she came close to Alex, making sure that no one would hear her words.
“I’m not irritated,” Alex replied. “More like exasperated. The way you look at me is like you’re looking at a criminal who has done vile things to your sister.”
“Oh dear. Isn’t that the same thing, though?” Aeris smirked. “Since you thought of it that way, maybe you are guilty as charged?”
“Don’t you feel embarrassed after hearing yourself?” Alex wanted to roll his eyes so badly at the perfect heroine in front of him. “A princess is actually picking a fight with a commoner like me? I should sue you and see how people react.”
“And who will believe you?” Aeris asked back in a challenging tone. “Go on. Try it. I want to see which one of us burns on a stake first.”
Lapiz took another sip of her drink while watching this exchange unfold silently.
Although it might look like Alex and her sister didn’t get along, the fact that her sister, who was always polite and kind to others, was able to show this side of her to Alex already spoke volumes.
It meant that she was comfortable enough to exchange words with the young man so freely that she wasn’t afraid of him judging her indiscriminately.
As for Alex, he was probably the second person who could talk like this to Aeris aside from her father.
“Just remember—I’m watching you,” Aeris stated. “If you make a move on my sister, I’m cutting that off.”
“S-Sis!” Lapiz almost choked on her drink after hearing Aeris’ threat.
“I’d like to see you try,” Alex replied with a smirk. “I’ll stab you first before you can even cut anything.”
“Hoh… famous last words.” Aeris sneered.
The two then glared at each other, making Lapiz feel slightly envious. Alex and his sister looked very close despite their barbed words.
Just as the two were about to clash once more, Alex suddenly glanced at the entrance with a look of disbelief written all over his face.
At that moment, Latifa and Fran entered side by side, making some of the guys look in their direction.
It was then when Alex had the sudden impulse to drag the two of them away from the ball.
That way, no one else would be able to gaze at their beautiful appearance, which they had worked so hard to perfect so that their lover, Alex, would feel like he would fall in love with them… all over again.
