Chapter 726: When The Heavens Stopped Listening
Chapter 726: When The Heavens Stopped Listening
Noticing Alex’s shocked expression, Lapiz shifted her attention to where the young man was looking. She was wondering what happened to make him have that kind of look on his face.
There, two ladies entered the main entrance, both of them being people she was familiar with.
Latifa, wearing a white princess dress, looked incredibly stunning. In the past, most students didn’t really pay attention to her since all she did was sleep in class. And with her head always buried, there wasn’t a lot of opportunity to see her beauty.
She even gained the nickname “Sleeping Beauty” because of it. After all, she was indeed quite beautiful.
Though that beauty had now been magnified after she had styled her hair and dressed in clothes that made her look gorgeous.
Alex was half tempted to summon countless shields at that moment, just so that no other guy would be able to look at his lover with eyes filled with admiration… and perhaps even interest.
However, the one whom the young man really wished to cover with all his might was none other than Fran.
Usually, Fran only wore the uniform of the academy and her farm clothes. When they went to visit the dungeon in Solara back then, she wore bland traveler’s clothes, prioritizing comfort over fashion.
Yet now, she was dressed in a black dress, alongside a mini skirt that didn’t even reach her knees.
The dress hugged her slender figure perfectly, its fitted bodice accentuating her delicate frame before flaring out into layers of black lace and ruffles. Crimson ribbons were woven into the dark fabric, creating a striking contrast that drew the eye wherever she went.
Long sleeves adorned with intricate frills covered her arms, while elegant black stockings extended up her thighs, leaving only a tantalizing glimpse of pale skin between the hem of her skirt and the top of her stockings.
Her short pink hair was now long enough to reach her waist. Alex believed that this was made possible with a special potion or magic spell. It was carefully styled for the occasion, cascading down her back like a waterfall.
Combined with her pink eyes and the gothic-inspired dress, she looked less like a farm girl from the countryside and more like a noble vampire princess who had stepped out of an ancient fairy tale.
(A/N: Krul *cough* Tepes)
The normally reserved girl carried herself with her usual calm demeanor. Yet, that only made her appearance even more devastating. She wasn’t trying to attract attention.
But attention still naturally gravitated towards her.
Evangeline, who entered a minute after Latifa and Fran, smirked evilly because she was the one who chose Fran’s dress.
Eleanora followed behind her, paying close attention to Alex’s reaction.
Seeing him hurrying to Fran’s and Latifa’s side made the two ladies’ smirks widen. Clearly, they went all out to make Alex feel overprotective of Fran because she was the only one among the sisters who didn’t like to dress up during parties.
When Alex approached her, Fran lowered her head slightly.
“Does it look strange?” Fran asked quietly.
“Strange?” Alex repeated. “No. That’s not exactly the problem.”
In front of everyone, Alex hugged Fran. He even kissed her forehead, making sure to let everyone understand one thing.
Mine.
The message couldn’t have been more obvious.
Countless jealous stares instantly landed on his back in return.
Alex didn’t care.
Not even one bit.
He was not giving Fran to anyone!
Latifa giggled before lightly tapping Alex’s shoulder.
“How rude,” Latifa said. “You didn’t even compliment my dress. Instead, you decided to hog Fran on your own.”
“You’re very beautiful, Latifa,” Alex replied honestly. “If there were two… no, three of me, I would have already covered you and Evangeline at the same time. Just what do you girls think you are doing?”
Unlike Alex’s other lovers, Evangeline wore a red dress that hugged her curvy figure.
If Latifa looked like a princess, she looked more like a succubus who was out to show the world the power of her femininity.
“Of course, we’re here to make everyone feel envious and jealous of you,” Evangeline replied before kissing Alex’s cheek right in front of everyone, marking him as her man. “What’s wrong? Do you not like how we look right now?”
“I like it very much,” Alex replied. “Hah… fine. You girls win. Just make sure not to dance with anyone else aside from our club members.”
Latifa and Evangeline exchanged smirks with each other.
“Alex, if you keep on hugging Fran like that, she might not be able to breathe properly,” Eleanora reminded.
“Oh, sorry.” Alex tried to pull back a bit after that. Yet, Fran’s arms that were wrapped around his body only tightened, preventing him from moving an inch.
“Please stay,” Fran said softly. “This dress is embarrassing. My knees and thighs feel cold.”
He didn’t hesitate to take out a red cape that was part of one of his princely outfits before wrapping it around Fran’s body, covering her up.
“Let’s go,” Alex said, lightly patting Fran’s head. “It’s best if we head to our table and not block the entrance.”
“Un.” Fran nodded as she held Alex’s hand.
The young man also offered his arm to Latifa so that he could escort her as well.
Evangeline followed behind them with a smile, fully knowing that their plan was moving smoothly.
If things went according to plan, either Latifa or Fran might end up spending the night with Alex tonight.
Then again, seeing how overprotective he was of Fran, all they needed to do was give their lover a little push and let things unfold naturally.
Upon safely escorting Fran to their table, Alex shifted his attention toward Latifa and Evangeline, planting a kiss on their cheeks.
Just as he had expected, none of Latifa’s Alters had appeared alongside her.
Or at least that was what he thought.
The moment that notion crossed his mind, a graceful figure stepped into the ballroom.
Lulu, wearing a dress capable of turning every healthy young man’s head in her direction, entered the ballroom with measured steps.
The sleeveless black gown exposed her smooth shoulders, and its daring backless design was held together by delicate crimson strings that seemed more decorative than functional.
The lively chatter inside the ballroom noticeably quieted after her appearance.
Many students stared, several of whom forgot what they were talking about.
One unfortunate young man even walked straight into a pillar because he couldn’t take his eyes off her.
Seeing the effect of her grand entrance, Lulu couldn’t help but giggle with a mischievous smile plastered across her face.
Though the instant she spotted Alex’s group, her eyes lit up. Then, without hesitation, she hurried towards him.
Alex immediately felt a headache coming after that because he had already noticed a few familiar figures standing just beyond the doorway.
They were none other than Latifa’s other Alters, who had also dressed up for this occasion.
“Give it up,” Eleanora said in a teasing tone. “Prepare yourself for a public execution.”
“Dear heavens,” Alex muttered. “What sin have I committed?”
Unfortunately, the heavens had already stopped listening to him.
Even Lily and Cupid were chuckling at the sight, fully knowing that after tonight, Alex’s title of being a womanizer would now be cemented in stone.
