Endless Leveling Done Right!

Chapter 795: Arcana Versus Reverse Arcana [Part 2]

Chapter 795: Arcana Versus Reverse Arcana [Part 2]

For several agonizing seconds, no one dared to breathe.

The silver barrier surrounding Everdawn City trembled violently.

Cracks of light spread across its surface as the enormous fireball continued to pour its destructive power against the magical shield.

The mages, including Chuck, poured all their magical powers into reinforcing the barrier, hoping their best would be enough to withstand the devastating attack and prevent the cracks from spreading further.

A moment later, a massive shockwave swept across the surroundings, shaking the earth while also sending dust and debris flying into the sky.

Several soldiers instinctively covered their faces at that moment.

While others fell to their knees.

But when the flames gradually disappeared…

The barrier was still there.

The cracks on its surface shimmered for a few seconds before the barrier began to gradually repair itself.

Seeing this result, the soldiers, who had regained their composure, all cheered in unison. Even Chuck looked relieved.

He originally thought the barrier would break, and so did his counterpart.

“It held?” Reverse Chuck narrowed his eyes.

He hadn’t held back this time, even pouring a lot of magical power into that giant fireball.

And yet, the barrier not only held, but even repaired itself afterward.

Because of that, Reverse Chuck’s expression darkened slightly. “That shouldn’t be possible.”

He stared at the barrier surrounding the city.

Something about it felt strange.

No.

Something about it felt familiar.

It was far more sophisticated than the defensive formations he had encountered in the past.

Behind him, Reverse Alex remained silent.

His eyes were fixed on the barrier.

Unlike Reverse Chuck, however, there was no surprise on his face.

Instead, there was only a silent understanding of what had happened before his eyes. Half a minute later, a faint smile appeared on his face.

“She’s here.”

Those two words were filled with both confidence and conviction that there was no way he could possibly be wrong.

“Do you know who is responsible for this?” Reverse Chuck asked Reverse Alex.

“Who else?” Reverse Alex replied. “There is only one person in the world who can make this kind of sturdy barrier with runic talismans.”

“I see…” Reverse Chuck nodded in agreement. “If it’s her, then it’s indeed possible.”

Nessia.

The person whom Reverse Alex had held in his arms half a day ago. She was the only one whom he believed was capable of such a feat, making him feel proud that such a woman had finally given her heart to him.

However, the Nessia he had made love with and the Nessia who made the barrier were two different people.

Although they shared the same origin, there was no doubt that they were different as well.

With that, Reverse Alex’s eyes wandered across the ramparts, looking for Nessia. However, he didn’t find her there, so he shifted his gaze to the castle where a few ladies were currently.

Soon, he recognized Lapiz, Aeris, and even Astrea.

However, after seeing Astrea, a weird look appeared on Reverse Alex’s face.

Astrea.

The unluckiest person ever born in his world.

No one even wished to stand a few meters away from her, for the mere act would invite misfortune to befall ‌them.

Because of that, she was exiled to an island, never to set foot beyond its borders.

Reverse Alex personally sealed that person there, making sure she wouldn’t bring misfortune to him and the rest of the world.

“I see… so that’s how it is.” Reverse Alex nodded in understanding. “So, this girl is born lucky in this world. Since that’s the case, she might be worth bringing back.”

After scanning the city and still not finding Nessia, Reverse Alex once again shifted his attention toward the ramparts.

He noticed two ladies standing there.

Both of whom he didn’t recognize.

One was wearing a fox mask with a Little Devil seated on her shoulder.

While the other looked at him calmly, as if trying to see through the depths of his soul.

‘Those two ladies aren’t ordinary,’ Alex thought before drawing his sword from its scabbard.

He then held the handle with both hands before raising it to the heavens.

Suddenly, blue flames emerged from the blade, rising upward into the sky. There, it transformed into a blue flame dragon that roared toward Everdawn City as if telling everyone to swear allegiance to it.

“Not enough.” Reverse Alex narrowed his eyes, and soon, the flames in his hand intensified.

The dragon roared once more as the sky also started to burn in blue flames.

“Oh… this might be bad.” Chuck couldn’t help but take a step back while holding Eleanora with his left hand in order to support her body.

Everyone, including Efa and Himea, the latter of whom was hidden behind her mask, turned grim at the sight.

Even with them reinforcing the barrier, the possibility of it withstanding such a blow was slim.

“Burn down the heavens,” Reverse Alex muttered. “Eversword!”

With a single downward strike, the blue flame dragon descended from the sky.

“Brace!” Chuck roared in return as he poured his magical powers into the talismans, which were their last line of defense against such powerful attacks.

Everyone who possessed a shred of magical power in their body reinforced the barrier.

After all, if this barrier fell, none of them would be able to withstand the attacks of the invaders that had come to conquer their realm.

Though, just as the flaming dragon was about to crash into the city, a flash of light appeared before the barrier.

“Don’t fail me now!” Alex raised the very first shield that was gifted to him by his master, Cairo. “Lend me your strength, Svalinn!”

At that moment, the blue dragon crashed against the shield that the young man held before him.

Soon, a sound similar to nails scraping across a blackboard reverberated across the surroundings.

People covered their ears due to how maddening the sound was.

A moment later, the entire surroundings were bathed in white, making all sounds cease to exist.

However, this phenomenon lasted for only a few seconds before an explosion that shook the entire surroundings expanded outwards.

Those at the ramparts, as well as the members of Reverse Arcana, were all blown back by the aftermath of this explosion.

Even the barrier creaked from the pressure of the force.

When the flames finally receded and everyone had regained their composure, they looked at the place the flame dragon should have hit.

There, they saw Alex lying on the barrier, using it as a support while holding a shield with both hands.

He looked battered at the moment, but he didn’t look beaten.

The young man then slowly lowered the shield before wiping off the blood that oozed from the corner of his lips.

His gaze then landed on Reverse Alex, who looked back at him with a gaze filled with contempt.

After all, only one of them would be the last one standing, and Reverse Alex believed that his counterpart was only delaying the inevitable.

“Hey, there is something I want to tell you,” Alex said to Reverse Alex.

“And that is?” Reverse Alex asked, a bit curious about what the young man had to say.

However, instead of giving him an answer, Alex only gave his reverse counterpart the middle finger. Reverse Lapiz couldn’t help but laugh, finding it the funniest thing she had ever seen since she crossed over to the world of Arcana.

Reverse Dim Dim then felt something in the distance, which made it look to its right side.

There, a little bun riding on a magical shield flew toward Alex’s direction before hovering by his side.

The two Dim Sum Gods then stared at each other.

Dim Dim took out its gangster sunglasses in response, and wore them before summoning a wooden sandal in its hand.

“Are you ready to teach these bastards a lesson, Dim Dim?” Alex asked.

“Dim Dim!” Dim Dim nodded firmly.

“Good.” Alex then summoned his warhammer, Sacrament. “I’m itching to clobber that guy’s annoying face as well.”

Reverse Latifa eyed Alex calmly. Truth be told, she didn’t dislike him. Not at all. After all, she had seen the memories of Lulu and Lala, who had both come to visit him in the past.

If possible, she wanted Reverse Alex to spare the young man.

Though seeing the look on her Master’s face, she believed that the chances of that happening were very slim.
