Chapter 796: The Clash Of Two Worlds [Part 1]

Alex glared at his counterpart, as he hovered before Everdawn City.

After that face-off, the young man briefly glanced at the entourage Reverse Alex had brought with him to their world.

Aside from Reverse Alex and Reverse Dim Dim, the lineup he saw made him narrow his eyes. He had already expected that Reverse Alex wouldn’t come alone.

But, this lineup was more than enough to topple the Kingdom of Faelarun.

Reverse Latifa, Reverse Lapiz, Reverse Fran, Reverse Evangeline, Reverse Chuck, Reverse Eleanora, and Reverse Lavinia hovered behind their leader.

Though what really caught Alex’s attention was the collar on Reverse Lavinia’s neck. She even looked at him with a pitiful gaze.

“Hey, what is your relationship with Lavinia?” Alex asked. “Are you treating her like some kind of pet?”

“She is my pet,” Reverse Alex replied. “Do you have a problem with that?”

“As a matter of fact, I do.”

“So? What can you do about it?”

The sheer arrogance in Reverse Alex’s tone made Alex grip his shield and weapon firmly. A head-on clash would not do him any good since the Rank disparity couldn’t be overcome through willpower alone.

“Why did you cross over to our world?” Alex asked. “You do not belong here.”

“Because I can,” Reverse Alex answered before finally noticing Vaan’s chariot over the horizon.

Nessia had given Alex a special rune that allowed him to instantly teleport near the barrier of Everdawn City.

After seeing the massive dragon in the sky, Alex decided to go ahead to protect the city.

And now that his reinforcements had arrived, Reverse Alex finally saw the person he was looking for.

“There you are…” Reverse Alex narrowed his eyes. “Nessia.”

Seeing the way his counterpart looked at his friend made Alex feel anxious. After all, the look that Reverse Alex gave Nessia wasn’t one of hatred.

In fact, it was an affectionate gaze that seemed to have finally seen a lover.

At that moment, Alex suddenly had a bad feeling, which stemmed from his instincts. That kind of gaze… that hungry stare that felt like he was planning to snatch Nessia from the chariot made him raise his guard.

Nessia, who had also sensed Reverse Alex’s unusual stare, felt alarmed.

“Hey, what are you looking at?” Alex tapped his warhammer against his shield to create a sound that caught Reverse Alex’s attention.

“What’s wrong with looking at my woman?” Reverse Alex asked in a challenging tone. “Wait. Have you done it with her? If yes, I’ll kill you.”

Alex and Dim Dim blinked at the same time.

“Huh?”

“Dim?”

The two looked very confused, while Reverse Alex’s entourage also looked at their leader in surprise.

This was especially true for Reverse Lapiz, who was certain that Reverse Alex only treated her sister Aeris, as well as Nessia, as his playthings.

However, this was enough information to tell Alex that his counterpart might have made Reverse Nessia one of his lovers in their world.

After thinking about it, he thought that this was indeed a possibility.

Since Reverse Charles might not have even appeared in Frieden Academy, it was safe to say that Reverse Nessia never had the chance to meet the person whom the Nessia of this world had chosen to become her lover.

Alex didn’t want to poke around this topic any further, fearing a can of worms he would rather not deal with would come out of it.

He simply waited for Vaan’s chariot to arrive by his side so that they could fight together.

Truth be told, hiding behind the barrier wouldn’t benefit them in any way.

After all, this wasn’t just a battle against the invaders from Reverse Arcana. It was also a race against time.

If they failed to complete the mission before Hy-Brasil disappeared from their world, then they would be trapped on the island for many years.

Not to mention, there was also the Synchronization Rate to worry about.

If they remained trapped for too long, then its influence might gradually overwrite their memories until they completely forgot who they truly were.

In the end, they might permanently turn into the people whose roles they were playing in this world.

“Nessia, come to me,” Reverse Alex said, extending his hand towards her. “If you do, I promise not to kill any of your friends. This offer also extends to you, Latifa, Lapiz, and Fran. Come to me, and I promise that none of you will regret your decisions.”

Charles, who had been tied up all this time, stirred after hearing Reverse Alex’s words. Since earlier, he didn’t like the way Alex’s counterpart had looked at his lover.

On top of that, his earlier words when he said that Nessia was his woman ticked him off so badly that he had managed to break free from the effects of his Synchronization Rate.

With anger fueling his willpower, Charles’ power manifested, breaking the shackles that bound him.

The sounds of them breaking caught Nessia’s attention. Yet, instead of panicking, he allowed herself to be pulled into her lover’s embrace.

“She’s mine,” Charles said, his voice almost coming out as a growl. “Don’t even think about taking her from me.”

“And you are?” Reverse Alex arched an eyebrow.

“Charles Lambert,” Charles replied.

Reverse Alex frowned while Reverse Dim Dim scratched its head. Both of them had no recollection of someone named Charles Lambert, which made them believe that he wasn’t someone important.

“It doesn’t matter who you are.” Reverse Alex shrugged in response. “After all, the outcome of this battle has already been set in stone.”

“Is that so?” Alex asked while summoning countless magical shields.

Soon, Cairo, Lavinia, Elaine, Efa, Himea, Chuck, Eleanora, Lapiz, Aeris, Fran, and Astrea hopped onto those shields and took out their weapons.

Clearly, they were planning to fight against the invaders, which was part of their original plan.

Vaan remained on his chariot, holding a spear in his right hand, and the reins of his chariot in his left.

Evangeline hovered behind him, her gaze fixed on her counterpart in the distance.

“You won’t win,” Reverse Alex said firmly.

“Funny. I wanted to tell you the exact same thing,” Alex declared.

The face-off between all of them lasted for a minute before everyone made their move.

Alex, Dim Dim, Charles, and Cairo, who were all riding on magical shields, charged straight towards Reverse Alex and Reverse Dim Dim.

Chuck headed straight for Reverse Chuck, while Eleanora faced off against Reverse Eleanora.

Latifa and Nessia against Reverse Latifa.

Evangeline against Reverse Evangeline.

Fran against Reverse Fran.

And Aeris and Lapiz challenged Reverse Lapiz.

Meanwhile, Lavinia and Elaine headed to face Reverse Lavinia.

On the other hand, Vaan and Renard faced off against Reverse Vaan.

As for Efa and Himea, they remained on standby. Their purpose was to assist whichever side needed help.

All sides clashed without hesitation, and soon, explosions boomed across the sky.

High above the celestial realm, the spectators watched this battle with solemn expressions on their faces.

A glance was enough to know who had the upper hand in this battle.

But even so, they still chose to believe that Alex and his group weren’t blindly attacking their counterparts without a plan that would allow them to win.
