Chapter 797: The Clash Of Two Worlds [Part 2]
“Are you here for a rematch, little Renard?” Reverse Vaan asked in a teasing tone. “Wherever you are, you really are the type who likes getting whipped, huh?”
When Reverse Vaan first arrived in Arcana, he happened to come across Renard and Vaan. Thinking it was a good idea to unwind a little by playing with them, he fought with the two.
Unfortunately, Reverse Vaan had a mission to complete, so their playtime didn’t last long. Of course, now that an opportunity had presented itself, he decided to continue where they left off last time.
“The one who will get whipped is you,” Renard replied, his gauntlets glowing with a red light. “I’ll beat you up so bad, no one will recognize you once I’m done.”
“Famous last words.” Reverse Vaan chuckled in return as he swung his whip in Renard’s direction.
Renard evaded the attack and closed the distance as fast as possible while riding on Alex’s magical shield.
Yet, even as he closed in, Reverse Vaan remained calm. In fact, his eyes displayed a look of amusement.
The moment he came within striking range, Renard didn’t hesitate to unleash a punch backed with everything he had.
He understood he couldn’t afford to hold back against someone stronger than him, so he needed to take him out as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, his attack didn’t connect.
The chariot where Reverse Vaan stood shifted at the last second, letting Renard’s punch pass harmlessly beside it. However, the latter had already anticipated this move.
Using the momentum of his punch, Renard raised his left leg, intending to follow up with a spinning kick.
Just as he raised his leg, Reverse Vaan’s whip coiled around it as if he had been waiting for that moment.
A sadistic look then appeared in his eyes as he planned to use Renard as a flail to hit his allies.
It was then that Vaan’s chariot slammed against Reverse Vaan’s chariot, catching the latter off balance.
Naturally, Renard used that opportunity to free himself. He had even managed to punch the chariot where Reverse Vaan was standing, blasting it away.
A chuckle escaped Reverse Vaan’s lips as he jumped off his chariot, leaving it without hesitation.
Then, one of the flying horses pulling on his chariot earlier broke free from its reins and caught Reverse Vaan mid-air.
They then circled around for a counterstrike, forcing Renard and Vaan to brace themselves for their enemy’s retaliation.
Renard and Vaan exchanged a brief glance with each other before both of them unleashed their planned attack on their foe.
Vaan threw the spear in his hand, aiming for the flying horse, while Renard punched forward, forming a giant fist that flew in Reverse Vaan’s direction.
“Nice try.” Reverse Vaan sneered as the whip in his hand transformed into a sword.
And with a single slashing motion, the giant fist that Renard unleashed was cut in half, while the spear Vaan threw was swatted away by a second slash.
Still, Renard was already on the move, with Vaan also urging his chariot forward.
As much as Vaan didn’t want to admit it, he thought that his counterpart was the weakest among Reverse Alex’s allies.
Unfortunately, he was wrong.
Very wrong.
Reverse Vaan narrowed his eyes like a cat, finding something amusing.
Then, with a simple tug of the reins in his hand, the Pegasus evaded the spear that flew from under its body.
Vaan could control the spear like a part of his body, so when he threw it earlier, it was only meant to distract their opponent.
He secretly maneuvered the spear using Reverse Vaan’s blind spots to unleash a sneak attack from below while Renard attacked at the same time.
But of course, Reverse Vaan was also Vaan. In other words, he already knew this trick. And just like his counterpart, he had used the same trick to attack Renard from below!
“Ughh…” Renard grunted as two daggers pierced the back of his leg. The daggers approached him stealthily, so he didn’t see them coming.
Even so, he had already committed to his attack, so he no longer held back.
To his surprise, Reverse Vaan caught his gauntlet with the palm of his hand like a glove catching a baseball.
“What now, little Renard?” Reverse Vaan asked mischievously. “I thought you were going to beat me up?”
“Screw you!” Renard cursed as he tried to break free.
A chuckle escaped Reverse Vaan’s lips before he whispered something in Renard’s ear.
“How did you know I’ve screwed the Renard of our world?” Reverse Vaan asked. “Do you also want to try, hmm?”
For a brief moment, Renard froze in place. “…What?”
Reverse Vaan’s grin widened in return. “You ought to hear how loud and sweet he groaned after I made him understand his place.”
“Damn you!” Renard’s face turned red as he tried to pull his arm free.
The mere thought of his counterpart being abused by this delicate-looking Reverse Vaan, who could easily be confused with a beautiful lady, angered him.
Unfortunately, the more he struggled, the tighter Reverse Vaan’s grip became.
“Well, aren’t you adorable?” Reverse Vaan asked. “The Renard from my world made the exact same face.”
“VAAN!” Renard shouted.
As if waiting for that moment, several magic circles appeared around Reverse Vaan and Renard, who were currently locked together.
Vaan had activated the runic talismans that Nessia had handed out to them to be used during emergencies.
It was supposed to be his trump card against Reverse Alex’s cohorts. Even so, he felt a bit bitter. He was unhappy about being forced to use this trump card against his counterpart, who, for the first time, suddenly had a serious expression on his face.
Renard had also activated the teleport talisman Nessia had given him earlier, allowing him to escape a few meters away from where he was earlier.
A few seconds later, loud explosions thundered in the sky as the explosion magic that was imbued in the talismans activated.
“Did we get him?” Renard asked as he hovered beside Vaan.
“Hey, didn’t Alex tell you not to raise flags?!” Vaan almost facepalmed in response after hearing his friend’s question.
Before Renard could even retort, someone spoke from behind the two of them.
“You should listen to him, you know?”
Vaan and Renard’s bodies stiffened at the familiar voice that came from behind them. Although it seemed impossible, the one whom they thought had fallen into their trap had actually escaped and was now right behind them.
The two didn’t hesitate to try escaping as fast as possible. Unfortunately, it was already too late.
At that moment, a hand pressed over their backs, and soon, both felt something hit them like a truck.
Both were blown away by the impact and fell from the sky unconscious.
“Oops. We can’t have the two of you falling to your deaths now, can we?” Reverse Vaan said as he gently caught Vaan with his hand and placed him on the saddle of his Pegasus.
As for Renard, a whip coiled around his leg, holding him in place as Reverse Vaan chuckled after capturing his two prey.
“Well then. What shall we do next?” Reverse Vaan eyed the battles that were happening around him.
He could interfere and join his allies at this moment, and yet, he decided against it.
“That would be distasteful,” Reverse Vaan muttered. “Oh, well. I guess I’ll sit this one out for a bit.”
After saying those words, he summoned his chariot and dumped the two unconscious teenagers inside it.
He then descended to the ground in order to better enjoy the first-class entertainment that could be viewed through the skies above Everdawn City.
