Chapter 802: The Return Of The King [Part 1]

“Fall back!” Chuck ordered the guards who were currently on the ramparts. “Get away from the wall!”

He then grabbed Eleanora and flew away as fast as he could.

Charles and Reverse Alex’s clash created a black, flaming tornado so strong it sucked everything around them, incinerating anything that came close to its center.

Lapiz and Aeris grabbed hold of their mother, Elaris, and flew toward the city center.

The city’s barrier could repel outside attacks, but it had no power over the violent suction dragging everything past its walls.

Within that swirling devastation, two fighters were locked in mortal combat.

Reverse Alex’s sword moved like a living dragon, but Ganelon evaded it by manipulating space and instantaneously moving to his desired location.

Understanding that normal attacks couldn’t hit his opponent, Reverse Alex decided to unleash an expanding inferno that spread outward.

Yet, even this failed to hit Ganelon, for he used his power to destroy and distort the space in front of him.

It didn’t take long for Reverse Alex to figure out Ganelon’s strength.

A Rank 8. Just like him. They were evenly matched in power, so their clash got stuck in a stalemate.

But neither had won the upper hand, so the tornado’s size grew bigger and bigger with each passing second.

Soon, the barrier that protected Everdawn City started to groan and flicker, signaling how close it was to breaking apart.

“To the city center! Run!”

As Chuck’s voice thundered across the city, his hand gestured to unleash countless fire whips, grabbing the soldiers who had lost their footing and were about to be sucked by the gusts of wind toward the city walls where the tornado raged.

Alex, who was under the protection of Efa and Himea, slowly opened his eyes.

He looked at the black tornado in the distance, his gaze calm, as if the chaos around him wasn’t enough to faze him.

“You…” Efa hesitated after seeing the expression on Alex’s face. “Alex?”

The man gave Efa a sidelong glance before he took a step forward, allowing his body to be carried toward the tornado, moving as if he was one with the wind.

Seeing that, Efa tried to reach out to him, but Himea grabbed her wrist, stopping her in place.

“Don’t.” Himea shook his head. “This is now outside of our control.”

Efa frowned, but she understood what Himea was saying.

Although she felt anxious, she decided to trust the person who was currently in control of Alex’s body.

Inside the black tornado…

“You’re like a rat,” Reverse Alex said in contempt. “All you do is run and hide.”

“And you are pathetic,” Ganelon replied in contempt. “You’ve been attacking me this entire time, yet not once have you landed a meaningful blow. Where’s your arrogance now, hm? You acted like you had everything under your control, yet until now, you can’t even touch the person standing in front of you.”

Ganelon paused briefly, but he wasn’t done admonishing and ridiculing his opponent just yet.

“You hold a sword, but you act like a child swinging it randomly to fend off the thing you truly fear in your heart.” Ganelon scoffed. “What a waste. I’ve seen frightened children put up a better fight than this. You’re worse than that guy holding the shield earlier. He’s weaker than you, but at least he knows how to do his job right.”

No taunt in the world could affect Reverse Alex more than being told that he was worse than Alex.

“I’ll kill you!” Reverse Alex growled as killing intent exploded from his body.

“Too late,” Ganelon replied in a mocking tone. “You lost your chance.”

Just as Reverse Alex was about to charge toward his annoying opponent, something hit the side of his head, making him stagger.

The attack happened so fast that he didn’t even have the time to sense it.

He looked at Ganelon in disbelief. His senses were locked onto his opponent’s body. It shouldn’t have been possible for the latter to land an attack before Reverse Alex could act.

“What are you looking at?” Ganelon asked with a sneer. “I wasn’t the one who hit you. Look there.”

Ganelon then pointed to Reverse Alex’s right, prompting the latter to look in that direction.

But the moment he did, something hit the left side of his head, as if telling him he had looked in the wrong direction.

The blow of the force was so strong that it sent Reverse Alex hurtling outside the tornado, then through countless trees before coming to a complete stop.

Thanks to that, the raging tornado also dispersed like a dying flame.

Reverse Alex slowly propped himself up from the ground, only to be forced back to the ground with force so great that it formed a crater dozens of meters wide.

“Do you know what hobby I enjoy the most?” A familiar yet unfamiliar voice reached Reverse Alex’s ears. “It’s kicking people when they are down.”

The foot pressing on Reverse Alex’s head stomped with greater force, expanding the crater to over two hundred meters.

Watching from afar, Ganelon’s expression turned solemn.

If he were asked to pick which person he least wanted to fight head-on, he would name his brother, King Aetherion, without thinking twice.

Why?

Because King Aetherion was not the benevolent ruler the history books had led generations to believe.

He was indeed a great King. There was no contest about that.

However, his personality would put even the most vile villain in the world to shame.

It was then that Reverse Chuck’s voice reached their ears.

“How dare you interfere in a duel?!” Reverse Chuck shouted. “Have you no shame?! Have you no honor?!”

At those words, the Elven King raised his head to look at the Flame Sorcerer in the sky, but his foot remained pressed on the back of Alex’s head.

“Interfering in a duel?” King Aetherion replied in contempt. “No. This is not a duel. This is war. You came here threatening my people, destroying my land, and burning my forest. You’ve made a mess of my territory, yet you still dare spout nonsense about interfering in a duel?”

Soon, the Elven King increased the pressure on his foot, intending to crush Reverse Alex’s head.

But the moment he took that action, the man under his feet disappeared without a trace.

High above the sky, Reverse Latifa supported her lover’s body.

She had used Lulu’s power to break reality, forcefully taking Reverse Alex away.

“Are you alright?” Reverse Latifa asked as she used her healing powers to help Reverse Alex recover from his injuries.

At the same time, the Reverse Arcana cast all moved toward their leader and took a defensive stance.

Since they entered this world earlier, they never thought that someone would be strong enough to stand in their way.

But now, they looked at King Aetherion warily.

“Is he…” Reverse Lavinia’s lips trembled. She wasn’t able to finish whatever she was about to say because Reverse Lapiz completed her sentence.

“Rank 9,” Reverse Lapiz stated. “So the rumors are true. King Aetherion was indeed a Rank 9 Elven King when he fought against the Demon Lord during his era.”

Inside Everdawn City, Lapiz and Aeris looked at King Aetherion with genuine relief.

He was the founder of the Kingdom of Faelarun, as well as the legendary Elven King who defeated the Demon Lord in the past.

According to history books, King Aetherion was so strong that no one was his match during his era.

And now, that same legendary King was facing off against invaders from another world, who thought that they could walk unhindered inside his domain without paying the price for their arrogance.
