Chapter 804: A Reason To Fight [Part 1]

King Aetherion landed gently on the head of his Dragon Queen and looked down at the invaders with contempt.

Reverse Alex and his group were already having a hard time with a Rank 9 Elven King.

But now, a Rank 9 Silver Dragon had also joined the fray. How could they possibly win against these two powerhouses?!

“Your expressions remind me of the Demon Lord when he met me and my wife for the very first time,” King Aetherion said calmly. “He was also a Rank 9 existence. Perhaps that’s why he delusionally thought he already had the entire world in the palm of his hands.”

A sneer then appeared on the Elven King’s face as he remembered the shocked expression of the enemy whom he had crushed under his foot.

Ganelon was one of the Demon Lord’s commanders, a traitor to the Elven Race. When he switched sides, King Aetherion was still a Rank 8 Elven King.

At that time, he had thought there was simply no way the Elves could win. So, he became one of the Demon Lord’s commanders. His intentions had been noble, intending to at least save his people from being enslaved.

His plan was to ask the Demon Lord to let him rule the Elves and make them his vassals.

The Demon Lord agreed to his proposal, and so Ganelon worked really hard to earn his Master’s trust.

However, when he faced his brother on the battlefield once more, something had changed.

Not only did King Aetherion become a Rank 9 powerhouse, but he had also gained a Dragon wife, whose strength even surpassed her beloved.

With two Rank 9s fighting together, the Demon Lord was defeated.

Although he fought fiercely and struggled until the bitter end, his fate was already sealed in stone.

Ganelon decided to flee the battlefield. He understood that his brother wouldn’t spare him.

The Elven King might spare his life, but he wouldn’t escape punishment.

It didn’t matter even if his actions had been for the sake of the Kingdom of Faelarun. In everyone’s eyes, he was just a traitor.

“I have an idea,” King Aetherion said in a teasing tone. “Why don’t we play a game of hide and seek? If you can hide from me, I will spare you.”

“Hide?” Reverse Alex wiped the blood that seeped from the corner of his mouth as he stood up shakily. “I’d rather die than hide from you.”

“That can be arranged,” King Aetherion replied before raising his hand. “Any last words?”

Reverse Alex held the sword in his hands and channeled every last bit of strength he possessed.

Raging black flames swirled around him as the ground under his feet cracked, creating a crater with him at the center.

“There is nothing in this world I can’t cut,” Reverse Alex declared as all the flames gathered into his blade, creating a ripple of power that expanded outwards.

Just as he was about to swing his blade toward his foe, King Aetherion snapped his fingers.

A shower of blood burst out like a fountain as Reverse Alex’s arms fell to the ground.

The young man had an expression of disbelief because his arms were cleanly cut off from his body before he could even know what had happened to him.

His sword, which had accompanied him through the years, pierced the ground, embedding itself until only its hilt could be seen.

A muffled groan escaped Reverse Alex’s lips as he gritted his teeth to endure the pain he felt at that moment.

It was then that King Aetherion’s words reached his ears.

“Do you know what I like the most?” King Aetherion asked him in a teasing tone. “It’s cutting the arms of my opponents before they can even use their weapons. I mean, do you really think I’m stupid enough to give you the chance to attack me? You’re still green, child.”

“””Alex!”””

Reverse Lapiz, Fran, Latifa, and Lavinia all hurried to his side.

They picked up his arm before using their healing abilities to reconnect it with his body.

“What a touching scene,” King Aetherion muttered. “I almost feel sorry for what I am about to do next. Well, the keyword here is ‘almost’.”

Without warning, King Aetherion once again snapped his fingers, a vicious smile appearing on his face.

The four ladies were suddenly sent flying by a shockwave that exploded right behind their backs.

Even Reverse Alex was blown away by the impact, his arms falling to the ground once more.

“It’s quite unfortunate, but everyone is equal on the battlefield.” King Aetherion sighed. “Even if you are a woman, the moment you attempt to harm me or my people, you are already my enemy. Please end their suffering, My Love.”

The Silver Dragon opened her mouth and prepared to unleash a dragon’s breath.

Reverse Alex glared in the direction of his hated enemy and burned his image into his eyes. Even if he died, he would never forget him no matter what.

Suddenly, he saw someone appear before him.

A lady whom he was very familiar with. Even if only her back was turned toward him, how could he possibly not recognize her?

“Nessia…” Alex said in surprise. “What are you doing here?!”

“What else?” Reverse Nessia replied. “I am here to protect the father of my child.”

Pressing her hands together, Reverse Nessia created several hand seals.

Countless runic talismans flew from her storage ring, forming a defensive barrier that looked very similar to the one that once protected Everdawn City.

“I commend your bravery, but it’s useless,” King Aetherion said. “At the very least, my wife will make this quick so you don’t have to suffer any longer.”

As if waiting for that moment, the Silver Dragon, Queen Elyndra Sylvarin, unleashed a breath attack without holding back.

All sounds ceased to exist the moment it escaped her lips.

Despite the blinding light that accompanied the breath attack, Reverse Nessia kept her eyes wide open and stood her ground.

She had secretly crossed over to this world and observed the battle from afar. Though, when she saw that Reverse Alex was truly in danger, she could no longer remain a spectator and threw herself into the fray.

Using every bit of magical power in her body, Nessia strengthened the barrier to its limit.

However, just before the breath attack hit the barrier, a strange distortion suddenly appeared in the space behind Nessia.

A moment later, she and everyone she protected were engulfed in a radiant light that had annihilated the previous Demon Lord without leaving any traces behind.
