Chapter 1083: Black Flame

'Black flame?!' Kaguya was baffled to see that. She immediately put out the flame with her fingers and gathered the smoke in her palms.

She then smacked it on Vida's head, and Vida immediately woke up. She gasped for air and asked Kaguya to give her water to drink.

Once Vida had calmed down and moved to the couch, Kaguya asked her if she was alright, to which she replied that she fell into the void and lost connection to her thread.

"Thank you, really. I owe you my life." Vida thanked Kaguya with the utmost sincerity.

"Stop it! What are you doing? I am a nurse. My job is to save people," she responded calmly.

With a little saddened voice, Vida then asked, "Did you save me because of that or because I am your friend?"

"Is this really important? I would have saved even if you were a stranger. Don't think about stupid things."

Vida leaned back and closed her eyes.

"Are you sure you are alright?" Kaguya asked with a concerned look on her face. "Do you need something?"

"Get me a healing potion from the counter. I avoid using them because they are expensive, but…"

Kaguya handed her the healing potion and said, "This is a high grade potion. They ought to be expensive."

After drinking the potion. Vida laid down on the couch and stretched her legs.

Kaguya watched Vida and muttered, "You don't look good."

"I am fine. Go check up on Rudy. He should have woken up by now."

Kaguya hurried to Rudy and called his name, but she received no response. She then shook him up, but still nothing.

"He is sleeping."

"He is fine, right?"

"I just told you he is sleeping."

"Uhmm…" Kaguya took a deep breath and turned to Vida with a nervous look on her face.

Vida noticed the look on Kaguya's face and uttered, "What? Why are you making that face? I don't like it when you make that face. It always brings terrible news."

"The flame…"

"What about it?" Vida grabbed Kaguya's shoulders. "Tell me fast!"

"It…" Kaguya averted her eyes before continuing, "It turned black."

Vida was so shocked to hear that she froze for a moment. She then let out a deep breath and muttered, "Record my last will, will ya?"

"Calm down. There is no need to panic."

"Calm down?! You are asking me to calm down? Don't you know what happened to that spiritualist who had the same incident?!"

"It was because of their negligence. Of course, I don't blame them since it was the first ever case, and no one knew what it meant and how to handle it."

"Why are you acting like we now have a solution for that? No one still knows the reason behind the black flame. They call it the flame of death!"

"You won't die." Kaguya said with a resolute expression on her face.

"How can you be so sure?"

"Trust me."

"Like you trusted me and went to that shitty son of a bitch spiritualist who told you the same thing as I did?" Vida remarked.

"I will kill myself if either of you dies."

Vida wasn't angry at Kaguya or Rudy. It was her profession and anything could happen. She didn't blame Rudy or Kaguya. But there was nothing she could do, and she needed to take out her frustration.

However, after hearing Kaguya, she let out a sigh and put her trust in her words.

"For now… let's move him to the couch and cover him. Even if he doesn't die, he will surely get sick if we leave him in the tub."

"It's okay. Let's talk about something else then. What did you see in his memory space? Were you able to unlock his memories?"

Vida shook her head with a dejected look on her face and responded, "No. I have never seen a memory space like this in my entire career."

Vida explained everything to Kaguya, and they waited for Rudy to wake up.
