Chapter 3518 Close it All
Chapter 3518 Close it All
Alex tried to figure out just what was happening with the space, but it was such a strange situation that he couldn't even begin to
understand it.
However, if he had to guess, then it was likely that his reasoning was the true one.
It was the crack that was somehow causing the space around it to weaken. That was partially evident from the spilling aura from the crack.
That made Alex wonder about two more things, however, which he didn't have the answers to just yet.
First, what was it that caused the crack to persist? It wasn't a proper Voidgate for it to stay open, and neither was it being kept open by another person like in the case of Rosemist's Voidgate.
So what could be the reason?
And secondly, if the space around him was being weakened due to the space aura spilling out, then what was the time aura doing?
The time around him was neither speeding up nor slowing down, so was anything even happening to it?
As Alex questioned these things, a voice came from one of the beasts. "What are you thinking about? Get to work," the beast ordered.
Alex didn't say anything and simply proceeded to do what he had come here for. He reached out for the cracks and tore them open to fully reveal the world inside.
"Will you be safe alone?" Wineshard asked just before Alex entered. "Would it be better if I came with you?"
Alex wondered if Wineshard was just worried about him, or if he wanted to visit the Void with him. In either case, he couldn't allow
that.
"I'm sorry, but I won't be able to do my job if I have to keep an eye on someone else inside," he said. "It will be better if I work at it alone."
The man said nothing, simply nodding.
With all that said, Alex slipped into the Void, arriving back inside.
The immediate region around him started to stabilize as he entered, but it was clear that it hadn't been so beforehand. Even with the crack there, the Void wasn't stable at all, the streams of space and time aura moving around without much care for it.
A regular crack in space would have had that.
Alex quickly moved away from the location to search around for the rest of the cracks. The cracks were frozen in space inside of the Void, so as long as he went around the region that resulted from the explosion's crater, he could find them.
In this instance, the space aura didn't matter much as he already had a place to return out of. The only thing he had to be careful about was the time aura, and that too only so he wouldn't lose much time.
Alex went into a patch of time aura that he could sense would speed up his time compared to outside. He avoided another patch that would make him skip more than a few hours. And then he arrived at another patch that would result in him losing a few hours, but the alternative was to lose a few days instead.
Alex could only choose the better of the worse options in that instant.
He went around in such a fashion, and in just less than 5 minutes of being there, he had already spent half a day in terms of the time outside.
He found the first of the remaining cracks just then and opened it to see where it was. It was a region of forest that he didn't recognize at all. Coming out of it, he saw the night sky and the silver moon hanging high above.
"It's dark already, huh?" he thought. Expanding his senses, he noticed a few types of foliage that he had only seen in the Jade Lotus Continent. That told him where he was.
Alex went back inside the crack and closed it from the inside before moving to another.
A few minutes later, he arrived at another crack. When he came out of it, light shone in the eastern sky as early morning had come around
already.
This crack lay within the folds of a massive mountain range where people didn't visit regularly, so it was missed.
Alex returned back to the Void and closed that crack as well.
Finding the next one took a few more minutes than he expected, but more than that, he had to take some rather bad patches of time aura. When he came out of the crack, it was back to being night again, with the sun no more than a few hours from showing itself.
This time around, he had come out to a group of cultivators working for the Beast God. They had been keeping watch over the crack. Alex greeted them, explaining who he was and what he was doing there, before returning through the crack and closing it.
The next crack threw him out of the sky, over dozens of kilometers above the land below. Seeing the region below, he could tell he was somewhere above the ocean near the Jade Lotus Continent.
Alex found 3 more cracks around the Void, costing him close to 5 days to find them all. Then he searched for another 5 minutes, costing him
a few more days.
Finally, once he was convinced that there were no more cracks to be closed, he returned to the one he had left for the end.
He opened the gate back into the ocean, arriving before the Divine realm beasts that had been floating there in wait and closed the crack.
"Young brother, you are finally out," Wineshard said.
Alex gave a quick nod. "I'm sorry to have kept you all for so long, it
took longer than I expected it to take."
"You were there for nearly 2 weeks," Wineshard said. "How long was that on the inside?"
"About half an hour," Alex answered with a dry laugh. "And I did my best to waste as little time as I could too."
Wineshard looked surprised. "You did close them all, right?"
"Yes," Alex answered. "The pseudo-Voidgates are no more."
