Chapter 3523 Xue Yu'er's Story
Chapter 3523 Xue Yu'er's Story
Xue Yu'er remained silent for a while, staring blankly at the talisman in her hand. She thought through everything in a calm manner, trying to find what she could say in this moment.
"Did you use this too? Is that how you have seven roots as well?" she asked Alex.
"No. As I mentioned earlier, I was born with all 7 roots," Alex answered.
"How can I trust that is the truth?" she asked.
Alex tilted his head sideways in a confused look. "Why would it matter to me whether you trust my words or not?"
Xue Yu'er scoffed a little. "You're trying to bring me down with this, aren't you? So I can only make sure that you did the same as me. We can both go down at the same time."
Alex couldn't help but laugh a little. "Well, sadly for you, I didn't."
The woman tossed the talisman back at Alex. "So, what do you want from me? Spirit stones? Artifacts? Or is it just revenge for what Kuangren did? I can understand if you hate me for what he did."
Alex shook his head slightly. "I feel a lot of animosity from you, senior. There is no need for that."
"No need?" the woman asked, nearly slamming her fist on the table. She glanced around briefly, making sure no one was keeping an eye on them, before turning back toward Alex. "You are either trying to bring me down, or you're trying to blackmail me. So tell me what it is you want from me?"
Alex looked her directly in the eye for a few seconds, saying nothing.
"Wait a second," she said slowly, a look of disgust appearing out of nowhere. "Don't tell me you too wish to make me your dao companion?"
"Too?" Alex asked. That was interesting, but he could learn about it later. For now, he had to continue this conversation before it devolved too far off.
He let out a deep sigh and began speaking. "You are overthinking, senior. I do not particularly care about your usage of the technique. I understand that most will view it as a demonic practice, but I don't think of it as such. So you can remain unworried."
Xue Yu'er held a look of doubt. "You don't want to report this to the gods?"
"No," Alex said.
"Then why bring this up?" she asked.
"Because I wanted to learn about your experiences with this technique. How your cultivation base has improved since you started using it. Have there been other improvements in your life that you
can attribute to this? I want to learn about your life."
The woman remained silent for a bit, taking the time to think of her
answer.
"I was born with a decent talent, but I've always been unlucky throughout my life, so I ended up taking a long time to gain resources that I could use to cultivate."
Alex listened intently, urging her to speak more.
"When I was young, my battle power was still quite high. Not as high as now, but at a decent level around 4," she said. "Despite that, I took time to improve my cultivation base because of several issues."
"When I finally was able to become a strong cultivator, I established my sect with a group of refugees from another sect. And so the Snow Immortal sect was born."
"I slowly improved it and my name rose as well. Soon, I became one of the strongest figures in the Northern Continent at the peak of the Saint realm. That was over 5 thousand years before I ever ascended."
Alex's eyes widened slightly. "You could've ascended 5 thousand years before you did?"
She nodded. "The sect was established and it was doing well, but I was the only one that made it happen. If I left, the sect would fall apart instantly. So, I remained for 5 thousand years, gathering talents, helping them improve. Only when I was certain I could leave the sect in their hands did I even think of leaving."
Alex nodded as he listened. "How did you come across the technique?" he asked. "It couldn't have been something you took back with you, can it?"
"It was something I found in the Ancient Battlefield," she said. "It's a region in the-"
"I am aware of it," Alex answered immediately, making her move along.
"Then you must be aware that it was the fighting ground for one of the biggest battles that took place, where Immortals and Divinities fought and died."
Alex's eyes narrowed slightly. He knew about Immortals fighting there, but not Divinities. That was a new fact.
"That talisman was one of the many we found," she said. "More than half of the techniques in the Ancient Battlefield are unusable thanks to them being entirely written in the human language, so with this being written in Demon language, it was one of the things I could
study."
"While I did study it, I never used it on myself until I ascended."
Alex was quite curious about that information.
"What spirit roots were you originally born with?" Alex asked.
"Water, Yin, and Wood," she answered. "The rest, I gained from the
sect I joined after ascending."
Alex gestured for her to continue.
"When I ascended to the Spring Water World, I joined a sect at
random since I didn't know what else to do. The sect I joined had a bit
of a reputation, so there was a rule when one joined. To leave the sect, one needed to do one of two things."
"One had to either reach the top 5 in the Core disciple's yearly
rankings, or one had to pay a total of 1000 Divine spirit stones," she said. "For someone new like myself, it was obviously not going to
happen anytime soon."
"But of course, I didn't lose hope. I had the talent, so all I had to do was work hard, right?" she asked with a self-deprecating laugh. "How
stupid I was."
Alex narrowed his eyes. "What happened?"
Xue Yu'er let out a deep sigh. "My beauty caught the eye of someone
who wanted to make me his Dao companion," she said. "And unfortunately for me, it had to be an elder."
