Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 569: First Devouring

Chapter 569: First Devouring

“By the time you receive this message, it means you’ve completed the Trial and returned to the universe.”

“I’ll keep things short.”

“Lately, several changes have taken place within the Human Federation. I’m afraid that, for the foreseeable future, we won’t be able to communicate again.”

“Still, I’ve conducted several simulations and confirmed that your strength will have improved massively upon your return.”

“Taking that into account, I’ve left you several resources for the future. The exact coordinates are attached in the file below.”

“…”

As Liora read through the message, she glanced at the date it had been sent and discovered that it had been a little less than three months.

Clearly, the changes in the universe had begun not long after her Trial started.

This matched the information Alpha had obtained.

Even so, Liora was still somewhat surprised.

“It seems that Anna’s status is even higher than I originally imagined. She managed to obtain such information so soon.”, she thought before shaking her head.

“According to the memories I possessed before awakening, Anna is only a few years older than me.”

“She enrolled in an ordinary Awakener Academy just a few years ago and rose swiftly through its ranks. Now, it seems that this is not necessarily the truth.”

“Is ‘Anna’ a fake identity?”, Liora murmured, her eyes narrowing subconsciously.

She had long since investigated Nova Terra Planet and confirmed there was nothing particularly special about it.

If Anna truly was a powerful Awakener using a false identity, there was little reason for her to remain there.

If there was anything unusual about that planet, it was actually Liora herself.

“It seems that things are getting increasingly interesting. As expected of a universe inhabited by several Ancient Devils—if not stronger—beings.”

Committing that thought to memory, Liora didn’t close the messages tab.

Instead, she turned her attention to the few messages outlined by a crimson shimmer.

As she went through them, she discovered that most had been sent by the War Academy.

They either informed students about the current situation or contained general announcements distributed to everyone.

Just as Liora was starting to think they were all the same, however, her gaze stopped on one particular message.

Sender: War God. Recipient: Liora Augustus.

“Student Liora Augustus, by the time you read this, I trust you already understand the current situation. Upon your return to the War Academy, contact me immediately.”

“I’ve attached the necessary access authorization below.”

Compared to Anna’s message, this one was much more concise and considerably colder.

However, just like the previous one, it contained an attachment.

The moment Liora opened it, no information emerged.

Instead, a flash of light shot toward her contacts list before a mechanical voice echoed through the room.

“Message Request has been sent.”

Listening to the voice fade away, Liora couldn’t help feeling somewhat speechless.

In the end, though, she simply shook her head and made a mental note of it.

Then, she continued reading the remaining messages.

Most of them came from classmates and professors.

Roughly half were asking about her condition and the state of her Trial, while the other half requested her assistance.

Seeing this, Liora gave up.

She had Alpha draft a standard reply before sending it to everyone at once.

Then, she disconnected from the Information World, allowing her consciousness to descend back into reality.

As soon as Liora returned to reality, she raised her head and observed the faint information traces permeating the surrounding space.

Recalling the sensation of her consciousness being transported earlier, she had a hunch that she could now enter the Information World on her own initiative, without needing its explicit permission.

More importantly, Liora sensed that she could enter that world with her physical body instead of a simulated vessel.

However, the moment that thought surfaced and she was about to give it a try, alarm bells rang within her heart.

Her intuition warned her of danger.

Although the warning wasn’t strong enough to suggest a life-or-death crisis, it was more than enough to inform her that she would face certain danger.

Based on experience, Liora estimated that whatever threatened her there was powerful enough to injure her and force her to retreat.

“Just as expected, the Information World is anything but ordinary.”

“With my current strength, I wouldn’t fear even a Rank 11 Awakener. If anything, my ability to escape is even greater than ordinary Ancient Devils.”

“For the Information World to make me feel threatened, its power must be far beyond that level.”

Naturally, Liora wasn’t particularly surprised, having suspected as much long ago.

Suppressing the urge to “ascend” into that higher dimension, she tapped her temple and allowed Alpha to return.

Then, she took a step forward, preparing to depart for the War Academy.

But just then, she suddenly remembered something.

Turning around, she took a look at the scattered metal fragments and the vast sea of blood behind her.

An idea surfaced in her mind. She immediately decided to put it into action.

The next moment, her body shook.

A ripple spread through the Cosmic Sea inside of her as endless cosmic dust emerged, forming a domain centered around her.

It expanded rapidly.

At first, it covered only a few dozen meters, but in the blink of an eye, it had engulfed the entire sea of blood.

Liora’s mind moved.

Immediately, the cosmic dust began to riot, devouring everything within its reach.

The whole process didn’t take long.

With the Predation Talent serving as its foundation, the Cosmic Sea’s devouring capabilities had reached an astonishing level.

Within moments, both the sea of blood and the shattered remains of the colossal fortress had vanished.

In return, two enormous masses of matter had formed within the Cosmic Sea.

One was crimson while the other was white and blue.

Each radiated a completely different aura, unique and distinct.

The crimson mass was bloody and savage, while the white-and-blue one exuded purity and righteousness.

Liora’s phantom appeared above them as her consciousness descended into the Cosmic Sea.

She observed the two masses for a brief moment before casually waving her hand.

Instantly, the two masses fired out in opposite directions.

One landed upon a world orbiting the Human Emperor Star.

The other descended onto a world on the opposite side of the Cosmic Sea, revolving close to a star dripping with fresh blood.
