Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 659: Heaven Emperor's Decision

Chapter 659: Heaven Emperor’s Decision

Space shattered once again.

This time, however, what came out of the spatial passage was not a powerful Zerg but a single tiny insect.

It resembled a beetle, albeit its body was black and covered in a thick layer of carapace.

That state didn’t last for long.

A thick black smoke emerged suddenly from its body and enveloped it.

Within moments, the insect had disappeared.

In its place now stood a creature emitting the same exact aura, but whose appearance was completely different.

“Damn it! That was too close!”, the Heaven Emperor cursed angrily, a faint layer of sweat having formed around his forehead.

It had truly been too close!

Had he acted any less quickly, he might not have been able to stand here at present. He would have likely perished!

Even then, the Heaven Emperor did not relax.

He understood that things were not over just yet.

Although he didn’t know Liora’s abilities, he understood such a powerhouse was bound not to lack methods to track him down.

He had to flee!

To find a way to escape her search. Or more likely, to force her to let him go.

He had already tried to inform the Zerg Queens, requesting they provide him with assistance.

But when they learned that what appeared to be a powerhouse with Rank 11 combat power was hunting him down, they were unwilling to help.

Rank 11 beings were forbidden from entering the extraterrestrial battlefield.

If they wished to save him, they would have to exert great effort, sacrificing the lives of many other Emperors.

More importantly…

“Those Zerg Queens might want me to perish! Do they think that my rise will threaten them?”

“Sure enough, my identity as a Zerg Servant still weighs down on me!”

At that thought, the anger of the Heaven Emperor grew even further.

It was fine that Liora was trying to kill him since they were enemies, but his own race betraying him was something he had never expected.

Recalling the humiliation he had suffered due to his identity as a Zerg servant in the past, a trace of struggle appeared in the Heaven Emperor’s eyes.

In the end, he gritted his teeth.

“Don’t blame me. If you want to blame someone, blame yourself…”

“Rather than dying, I’d rather let the universe be destroyed in my stead.”, he muttered inexplicably.

Then he suddenly turned around and quickened his pace.

He didn’t move toward the edge of the city. Instead, he dove deeper.

Had someone tracked his movements from above, they would have seen that his destination seemed to be a very familiar building.

A building that had already witnessed the death of many powerhouses.

The Heaven Emperor possessed the ruthlessness and decisiveness that a former Ancient Devil should.

Within just a moment, he had already made a decision and fled.

That quick thinking proved to be the correct choice of action as just a few moments after he moved, a person appeared at the spot where he had just stood.

Liora’s gaze swept through her surroundings.

When she noticed that the Heaven Emperor was nowhere to be seen, she was briefly surprised.

But soon, that surprise vanished. She stared at the floating wisp of essence, which was now pointing toward a new direction, and, under Liora’s eyes, began moving in a new trajectory.

She didn’t hesitate.

Employing her full speed, she chased after it.

It didn’t take long.

In less than half a minute, her gaze captured the outline of the Heaven Emperor’s black form.

She had no time to stare at him for long, though.

Soon, that figure disappeared, passing through a tear in the space and entering a towering, several-story-high pavilion.

As she watched him go, Liora’s eyes flickered.

She had a guess regarding what he was trying to do.

She felt it made sense. Yet the absurdity of the situation nearly made her laugh.

Indeed. Her guess was proven true.

When she followed him into the building and saw the Heaven Emperor again, she knew she had guessed correctly.

The Zerg Servant was not alone.

Beside the Heaven Emperor stood an ordinary man with black hair and dark eyes, wearing a long, exclusive robe exclusive to emperors.

Liora had no time to examine him any closer. Soon, the Heaven Emperor’s voice entered her ears.

It was not mighty and threatening as one would have expected from a powerhouse of his level.

Instead, it was soft and… somewhat cowardly.

His actual words were even more so.

“My Lord, you have only recently awakened from your slumber. I’m certain that your goal is far from as simple as coexisting with the other civilizations.”

“You must be willing to dominate the Cosmic Universe. Unfortunately…”

The Heaven Emperor paused briefly before continuing.

“You’ve already offended the Mechanical Race with your earlier betrayal. The demons are too chaotic in mind and can thus not truly be trusted.”

“The humans are too righteous and must be unwilling to help you. As for the Zerg… they are extremely xenophobic. They will never accept you.”

“Only someone powerful enough to show you the way, yet loyal and trustworthy enough, can really help you.”

“I, though not powerful enough to contend with Your Majesty, am willing to be that person!”

The Heaven Emperor spoke in a single breath, not giving any time for the man to speak.

By the time he finished speaking, he was bowing in ninety degrees, performing a salute he had learned during his trip in the city.

But what met his words was complete silence.

The man neither accepted nor refused his offer.

The atmosphere in the hall grew heavy. No one spoke, and the only thing that could be heard was anxious breathing.

The Heaven Emperor nearly burst out in cold sweat. Especially when he recalled how the person before him had almost killed him and everyone else in a single strike, he became even more anxious.

“My Lord…”, he stuttered, trying to break the silence.

But just as he raised his head and was about to continue, his pupils suddenly shrank.

A familiar face entered his sight.
