Chapter 702: Rejection
Chapter 702: Rejection
“Father!”
The moment the War God finished speaking, Janna could no longer hold back. She spoke for the first time.
It was fine if she was forced to enroll in the Human School. Although unwilling, she could at least accept it given the circumstances.
Yet hearing that her father wanted her to become the disciple of the unknown woman in front of her, Janna could no longer restrain herself from speaking.
She wanted to say that she was unwilling!
She didn’t want to become the disciple of this unfamiliar figure!
Wouldn’t this be humiliating for her own father?!
However, just as she was about to voice her complaints, an invisible force descended and enveloped her.
Halfway through her words, Janna discovered that she could not move, let alone speak.
At first, she nearly believed that she had been attacked by an assassin or by the unknown woman before her!
Yet upon closer inspection, she discovered that the force did not come from an unknown person.
The force restraining her had come from her own father!
A look of shock flashed across her eyes.
Unfortunately for her, the War God did not seem to care about her inner grievances.
He only glanced at her briefly before turning back to Liora.
“Please excuse my daughter’s behavior. It’s my fault for failing to discipline her,” he said, afraid that Liora would get angry and teach her a lesson.
Thankfully, Liora did not seem to mind Janna’s offense.
She maintained the faint smile on her face and casually shook her hand.
“There is no reason to take such a small matter to hand. Which powerhouse had not been arrogant during their youth?”
“If anything, it is proof that your daughter’s talent is extraordinary.” She spoke with the air of a seasoned master.
Her behavior made both the War God and Janna speechless.
However, Liora paid them no heed. She continued speaking:
“As for the matter of accepting her as my disciple…” She paused briefly and shook her head.
“Let’s forget about it. I can sense that your daughter and I don’t have such fate.”
“There is no reason to force such things.”
The War God was visibly disappointed upon hearing these words.
Although he didn’t know the full extent of Liora’s power, nor her true background, he had heard faint rumors about her from the ancestral figures within the Human Federation.
There were many, but in the simplest terms possible, the woman in front of him was terrifying.
Even when taking the entire Cosmic Universe into account, she could be considered among the top five beings in power, while no one was more mysterious than her.
For such a being, even the incoming disaster was likely not to affect her.
That was why the War God had tried to make Janna her disciple. Based on the previous help he had provided Liora, he believed there was a high chance she would agree.
Unfortunately…
The War God glanced at Janna and secretly shook his head.
His daughter had ruined all his efforts.
Even if there was originally a way for Liora to accept her, Janna’s refusal had already made the final result obvious.
The War God felt disappointed, but he didn’t lose his composure.
He glanced at Liora and knew that she was bound to be busy.
With a smile on his face, he was about to pull his daughter away, say goodbye, and leave the room.
But just then, Liora suddenly spoke. She seemed to be following up on her earlier words.
“Of course, it’s not that your daughter has no place in the Human School. If you’re willing, you can let her enroll as an ordinary student of the school.”
“Who knows? She might catch the eye of one of the teachers eventually.”
Hearing this, the War God’s eyes lit up.
Had anyone else made such a proposal, he would have been furious.
After all, he was a Rank 10 Emperor.
Who could possibly be worthy of teaching his daughter besides Liora?
Yet as the War God recalled some rumors he had heard, as well as some auras he had sensed on his way here, he didn’t hesitate.
The smile on his face grew more heartfelt.
“Your Excellency is right. It’s good to have my daughter enroll in the Human School. “
“I’ll be leaving her in your care…”
—
A few minutes later, the War God had said everything that needed to be said.
After taking one last, reluctant look toward Janna, he finally departed.
Soon, only Liora and Janna remained in the hall.
The force enveloping the latter had vanished along with the War God.
Even so, although now free, she didn’t dare to voice her complaints in front of the unknown woman.
Liora noticed her thoughts. However, she didn’t point them out.
“Your father has let you enroll in the Human School.”
“I can sense that you’re quite talented and that your current foundation is solid. Given some luck, there is a chance for you to become an Emperor. However…” Liora’s eyes grew solemn.
“Don’t expect to receive any special treatment while in the school.”
“The Human School’s creed is simple: as long as a student is talented enough, they can enjoy the corresponding resources and status.”
“If they are talented and hard-working enough, they can obtain anything they wish.”
“As for those who are not, however, they can only remain as ordinary students forever.”
Janna’s expression changed.
Not because of the treatment itself, but because of what it meant. Especially when she recalled Liora’s earlier refusal to accept her as her disciple, Janna found it difficult to maintain her composure.
Although Janna did not want to become her disciple from the start, making that choice on her own and being rejected were completely different!
Fortunately, Janna wisely chose to keep her mouth shut.
Liora casually waved her hand. A stream of light shot out from her fingertips and left the hall.
Only a few seconds later, the hall’s door swung open.
A white-haired woman walked in and approached the two.
She looked at Liora and bowed respectfully.
“My Lord,” she softly called out.
Then, she turned toward Janna. Her expression grew indifferent, as though she were not staring at the daughter of an Emperor but at an ordinary mortal.
“Follow me,” she said coldly before turning around and motioning for Janna to follow behind her.
