Chapter 1197: Power Of The One Above
Chapter 1197: Power Of The One Above
"…This power…"
Michael had never felt anything like it before.
The ghost's understanding continuously flowed through their synchronization, allowing Michael to grasp fragments of what he was currently using.
"Ice Wheel isn't simply a Law technique…"
His silver eyes narrowed.
"It's a Domain Law Technique."
The distinction was enormous.
Michael had encountered domains before. At Rank Four, after one's comprehension of Laws reached a sufficient level, a supernatural could gradually construct a Law Domain. Within that domain, their authority over the Laws they cultivated became vastly stronger.
Certain techniques could even only be activated while the domain was deployed.
Domain Skills.
They were essentially techniques that borrowed the complete structure of a Law Domain to function. Outside that domain, they simply couldn't be used at all.
However, it seemed Rank Five was different.
Michael's gaze lifted toward the massive Ice Wheel. At Rank Five, the Domain no longer remained merely a field created around the user. It evolved and transformed into a miniature world. A Law World.
Once that happened, a Demigod no longer needed to completely deploy their inner world every time they wanted to use certain Domain Skills. They could extract portions of its authority directly into reality.
In a sense, they were the world. Now it all made sense. Why the female Demigod could control a sea of blood. It was probably the effect of a Domain Law Technique.
Michael's eyes shone.
"So this wheel… is basically part of her world brought outside."
The ghost's voice echoed through his mind.
"Yes."
Michael suddenly understood why he had never seen anything like it from a Rank Four. It wasn't simply because they lacked sufficient power. They fundamentally lacked the structure required to sustain such a technique.
Ice Wheel required a Law World. Without one, there was nothing to draw from. Yet Divine Incarnation Possession had temporarily allowed Michael to bypass that restriction.
He didn't possess a Law World, but she did. And through their synchronization, he could borrow enough of its foundation to manifest Ice Wheel.
"Ridiculous."
Michael grinned.
The first function of Ice Wheel was Amplification. Extreme amplification.
The second function was locking, essentially making it impossible to use the void for anything.
There was still something else inside Ice Wheel. He could feel it. A third function.
Unlike the first two, which were distributed throughout the structure, this one felt concentrated. Dangerously concentrated.
At the very center of the wheel.
Michael focused on it.
Immediately, his soul screamed, and his expression changed.
The Ice Wheel stopped rotating.
For a brief moment, Michael caught the faintest glimpse of something inside the central pupil. Then the connection disappeared.
Michael staggered slightly.
"…"
The ghost immediately reduced her synchronization.
"You can't."
Michael breathed out slowly.
"No kidding."
Even with their current compatibility, he couldn't properly comprehend the third function. Not because she refused to show him. His current existence simply couldn't contain the complete information.
That realization made Michael's expression serious.
Even when he could partially manifest a Rank Five Domain Law Technique, the third ability remained beyond him. That meant it wasn't merely another application of Ice Wheel.
It was probably the technique's true killing move. The trump card. One that might even drain the original body.
Michael stared at the enormous Ice Wheel for several seconds longer.
The temptation to continue probing the third function was strong. But after the reaction from his soul just now, even he knew when curiosity had crossed into stupidity.
"At least I know it exists."
For now, that was enough.
His attention shifted back toward the first function. Amplification. Unlike the mysterious third ability, this one was something he could actually test properly.
Michael slowly lowered his gaze toward his hand.
"I wonder…"
There was one spell he had been casually studying whenever he had free time. Nothing particularly impressive. At least, it hadn't been impressive when he first learned it.
Ice Spear.
A relatively straightforward intermediate ice spell.
Condense ice-element mana. Compress it. Shape it into a spear. Launch it. Simple.
Michael had originally learned it mostly because his elemental affinities had continued expanding, and he wanted at least a basic offensive spell for each element he could use.
Compared to his necromancy, Laws, undead, and other absurd abilities, Ice Spear had barely received any attention.
Michael's silver eyes narrowed.
"What happens if I go all out?"
He raised his right hand. Immediately, the entire atmosphere changed.
Whoosh!
The surrounding ice-element energy rushed toward Michael. The Ice Wheel rotated once.
KRRRRRR…
A deep vibration spread through the frozen world. Every speck of frost suspended in the air trembled. The pale snowfall reversed direction. Instead of falling toward the ground, countless flakes rose toward Michael's hand.
A small point of blue-white light appeared above his palm. Then compression began.
Michael's expression changed almost immediately.
"…Oh."
This was already beyond anything he had expected. The amount of mana gathering was absurd.
Under normal circumstances, Ice Spear had a natural limit. After enough mana was poured into the spell, maintaining the structure became increasingly difficult. Eventually, the spell would collapse before additional energy could be added.
But Ice Wheel was supporting it. Every time the spell formation approached instability, the surrounding Law authority reinforced it.
Michael added more mana. The glowing point expanded.
One metre.
Three metres.
Five.
The rough shape of a spear slowly appeared. Except calling it a spear was becoming increasingly ridiculous. It was already more than ten metres long.
Michael continued pouring mana into it. His newly enhanced reserves began dropping.
Ten percent.
Fifteen.
Twenty.
The spear compressed rather than expanding. Its enormous size shrank. Ten metres became eight. Eight became six. Yet the energy contained inside continued increasing.
The surrounding space began producing faint cracking sounds.
Isabella stared from the distance. Her violet soul flames widened. She had already moved several kilometres away when Michael first manifested Ice Wheel.
Without hesitation, she turned around and started running, her body a blur across the landscape.
Michael's expression became increasingly serious.
Forty percent.
Fifty percent.
Sixty percent.
