Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 1207: Finally Done

Chapter 1207: Finally Done

"It actually worked!"

Though he suspected there wouldn't be any issue in the first place, doubt still existed, since this was an item that had been mysteriously produced by the Origin Battlefield. Only the heavens knew if it had a locked grade. Fortunately, it didn't.

Heavenly Enlightenment Incense

Grade: Epic ★★★

Description: A supreme treasure born naturally within regions blessed by the Origin Will.

Once ignited, the incense releases Heavenly Enlightenment Mist.

Depending on the quantity burned and the intensity of the flame, the user's comprehension may increase by up to ten times.

Duration and effectiveness depend upon the amount consumed.

Just its current effect was already terrifying.

Even before meeting the Demigod ghost, Michael had placed enormous importance on the Heavenly Enlightenment Incense. At the time, he hadn't possessed any clear direction for comprehending a Domain before Rank Four. Everything he knew about Domains suggested that attempting to create one while his Law Seed remained incomplete was practically unreasonable.

Still, Michael had been certain of one thing. Even if the Heavenly Enlightenment Incense couldn't directly help him comprehend a Domain, it would significantly reduce the difficulty he faced in the future.

Ten times comprehension. That wasn't a small increase, as such an enhancement could turn years of comprehension into months. For Michael, whose comprehension had already reached a ridiculous level after repeatedly improving his body and soul, the effect would be even more valuable.

He could use the duration to deepen his understanding of the Law of Echoed Existence. Even if he failed to make any progress toward his Domain, whatever understanding he gained wouldn't simply disappear when the incense stopped burning. Comprehension wasn't borrowed power. Once he understood something, it became his.

As long as the Heavenly Enlightenment Incense didn't have some ridiculously short effective duration, Michael had always been confident he could gain something substantial from it.

But the situation was completely different now.

He had Ice Wheel. Through Divine Incarnation Possession, he could temporarily carry and experience the foundation of an actual Demigod's Law World. The first use alone had pushed his Domain comprehension from zero to 2.5%.

Then there was Lucky. The comprehension phenomenon produced by Lucky's evolution to Legendary grade was already vastly greater than anything Michael had experienced from previous evolutions. If the effect remained throughout the evolution, he potentially had days or even weeks to take advantage of it. Even if it ended soon, he'd just evolve another undead to Legendary. The cost was high, but it was worth it.

Together with these two, there was the Heavenly Enlightenment Incense.

*What would happen if he combined all three?*

However, Michael still wasn't satisfied, since the possibility for a greater result was present.

*What would happen if he evolved the Heavenly Enlightenment Incense?*

Though the possibility it would turn into something else existed, Infinite Evolution only did things based on foundation. It wouldn't turn a sword into a spear if you didn't first hand it a spear to use.

This would be the same even if he evolved the Heavenly Enlightenment Incense to Legendary grade. At that stage, what could he expect? Would it be a longer duration at reduced efficiency, or greater efficiency at reduced duration?

The possibilities were many, but it was a risk worth betting on.

Fortunately, taking the gamble was possible at all, since not only could he link his soul with the treasure, but on his panel he could already see that he could evolve it. If the treasure had possessed some strange restriction, like a locked grade, due to being created by the Origin Battlefield or the Origin Will, there was a possibility that his talent simply wouldn't have been able to interfere with it.

But the panel floating before him had eliminated that worry.

[Heavenly Enlightenment Incense]

[Epic ★★★ → Legendary ★]

[Cost: One Million Evolution Points.]

Michael stared at the number for several seconds. After spending one million Evolution Points on Lucky and then evolving seven more undead immediately, with one costing three million afterward, his previously enormous reserve had already suffered considerably.

Still, Michael didn't dismiss the panel. Instead, he closed his eyes in pain and closed the deal.

The moment the choice was made, the Heavenly Enlightenment Incense reacted. The pale object erupted with light.

Michael's eyes narrowed as the incense suddenly escaped his grasp and shot upward. Within seconds, it had risen hundreds of metres into the sky, leaving behind a long trail of pale golden-purple radiance.

Then the sky changed.

Dark clouds appeared directly above it. Black clouds rolled across the sky in enormous layers, spreading outward at a frightening speed, continuing to expand until they reached fifty kilometres.

Soon, an enormous portion of the sky had been completely covered.

The Heavenly Enlightenment Incense hovered at the center of everything.

Mana throughout the region surged toward the incense. The initial pull wasn't particularly impressive, but its intensity increased with every passing second.

Streams of mana rose from the ground. The surrounding mountains began releasing accumulated elemental energy. Mana hidden within underground veins was dragged upward, while the ambient mana covering the region rushed toward the sky.

Michael's expression gradually changed as it was absorbing even more than Lucky.

The range continued expanding as the incense indiscriminately devoured mana from its surroundings.

Michael immediately intervened. As ruler of the Mausoleum, he redirected several distant mana streams toward the region. The world itself responded to his authority, guiding enormous amounts of energy toward the evolving treasure.

Fortunately, this world was large and didn't have a huge number of heavy consumers, so he had just enough to satisfy the consumption of evolving it to Legendary grade.

The Heavenly Enlightenment Incense swallowed everything. Its pale body was barely visible anymore. Only an enormous sphere of golden-white light remained beneath the dark clouds.

Michael continued observing and noticed there was something missing.

Comprehension. Or rather, the enhancement of it.

Lucky's evolution had almost immediately produced that strange phenomenon. Michael's mind had become clearer, difficult concepts had become easier to process, and his ability to comprehend everything around him had increased to a degree. The seven evolutions occurring elsewhere had also contributed to the phenomenon to varying degrees.

Yet the Heavenly Enlightenment Incense produced nothing, which was strange, since of all the things he was currently evolving, this should have been the one most likely to produce such a phenomenon. It was literally a treasure created for enlightenment.

However, though he was worried, there wasn't much he could do, and there also didn't seem to be any major problem yet.

Michael gave the enormous sphere of light one final worried glance and disappeared.

Just like Lucky's evolution, he expected this one to also take a while. He only had one Legendary-grade item, which was this Mausoleum, and that had come from merging two items at the very peak of Epic grade, resulting in a swift creation. It would surely be different for the incense, and though he did not know exactly how long it would take, he expected it to be very little time.

Also, there was still one more thing he wanted to do.

When Michael appeared again, he found himself standing in another empty region of the Mausoleum.

Soon another object appeared in his hands. It was in the shape of an orb.

[Rune Annihilation Sphere]

Grade: One-Star Epic

Description: A disposable treasure created by compressing an enormous quantity of destructive energy within a runic shell.

Once activated, the sphere detonates after a brief delay, releasing catastrophic force over a wide area.

Effects: Releases a devastating explosion equivalent to the full-force magic attack of a Peak Rank Four powerhouse.

The explosion ignores most forms of ordinary elemental resistance. Effective destruction radius scales with the surrounding environment.

Restrictions: Single Use.

This was the second treasure he had managed to snatch from the Origin Battlefield. Compared to the Heavenly Enlightenment Incense, its value was admittedly lower. It was only One-Star Epic, but like the former, it was disposable. Once activated, the Rune Annihilation Sphere would destroy itself together with whatever unfortunate target happened to be nearby.

However, calling it less valuable did not mean it was weak.

Michael rotated the orb slowly between his fingers. He could feel the destructive energy sealed inside. If used properly, there was a genuine possibility of instantly killing a Peak Rank Four supernatural. Of course, actually accomplishing that depended on circumstances.

Michael's fingers tightened slightly around the orb. Since he was already evolving everything today, there was no reason to leave this behind.

Michael closed his eyes. Once again, he activated the strange ability that allowed his soul to establish a connection with inanimate objects.

When the connection was formed, a panel appeared.

[Rune Annihilation Sphere]

[Epic ★ → Epic ★★★]

Michael confirmed the evolution without hesitation.

[Yes]

The Rune Annihilation Sphere reacted immediately. Michael instinctively released it. The orb floated several metres above his palm.

A pillar of dark red light rose from it before stopping several dozen metres overhead, and mana began surging toward it.

However, compared to Lucky's evolution or the Heavenly Enlightenment Incense, the reaction was almost lacking.

Just the usual stuff.

The evolution was proceeding normally.

Michael gave the treasure one final glance. Then his figure vanished.

A moment later, he appeared beside the newly transplanted Nether Soul Tree.
