Chapter 502: Guild Raid and Food is Life
Chapter 502: Guild Raid and Food is Life
"What? You're kidding"
"I'm not, man. We received the quest as soon as we met the King. Though I have a hunch that we only received it because of the news of the incoming monster horde" Dylan offered his thoughts about the matter.
"The news traveled that fast?" Michael said.
With a shrug, Dylan replied, "Well, there are players who joined the native factions. So we can factor those people that they might have been the ones that informed them or..these kingdoms just has a way that's still unknown to us where they can receive informations fast"
"That makes sense," Michael nodded in agreement.
[Hello! Welcome to Jollibee! What can I get you today?]
The voice of the store employee rang the moment their car alighted beside the speaker.
"Can we get two coke floats, two classic burgers and two large fries, please?" Michael ordered the usual food that they always get.
[Two large fries, two classic burgers and two coke floats, right sir?]
"Yes," Michael answered.
"Do you have anything to add?" he turned towards Dylan who was busy exchanging messages with someone.
"Ohh, get us some ice cream sundae too" Dylan answered, his eyes still glued to his phone, looking very serious at the moment.
"And add two more ice cream sundaes please"
[Alright sir, please drive towards the next window to receive and pay for your orders]
*****
Michael drove towards one of their usual hangout spots, at a nearby beach, thanks to the cloudy skies which made it possible.
"So what's the quest about? You haven't told me yet" Michael asked just seconds after they arrived.
Grabbing a finger full of french fries, Dylan answered him while chewing on his food.
"Sea Tribe's Subjugation" Dylan answered and Michael sprayed the drink he was drinking when heard him.
"S-subjucate them? The Sea Tribe? Is that King nuts?" wiping his mouth with the back of his hand, Michael snorted at their ignorance. He knew how much of a threat the Sea Tribe posed to the continent since they even all had to unite together just to fend them off after a lot of sacrifices were made.
"I know what you're thinking, I also read the game's history in the library. But we are not directly going out to the sea and directly attacking them" Dylan said as he already knew what his friend was thinking.
"The King received an intel that the vanguard of the Sea Tribe had long already reached land and had occupied a huge fishing village" he added.
"And so the King want the Flame Rose Guild to raid them?" Michael asked as he bit onto his burger.
Dylan shook his head and replied, "No, the King wants us to assist his army during the subjugation, and the more the better. The others had already approached to the other guilds for help"
'What about the Monster Horde? Does your guild have no plans on participating in it?" Michael asked, remembering his previous encounter in the game.
Taking a sip of his drink, Dylan said, "For now, no. Besides, it's a little far from our location. It would be a waste of time to go there. It's not like the monster horde would be able to easily penetrate towards the center of the continent if the human nations bands together to resist them"
"So what do you think? Can your guild join?" Dylan asked with a hopeful gaze.
Looking at his friend's eyes, Michael shrugged his shoulders and said, "I certainly won't be able to join. The others? I don't know since they are doing their own thing inside the game while some are out of the country. Though we can try to ask, or better yet, just hire their services. It's not like you don't know what they do inside the game"
Slap!
Slapping his thigh, Dylan exclaimed, "I feel so dumb right now, how could I forget?! Damn, I had gotten so used to asking for their help that I forgot that I can actually just hire them!"
Michael laughed and said, "The pay won't be cheap though"
"It's okay, I'm not the one paying!" Dylan laughed alongside him while looking at each other.
"Right, your girlfriend is rich"
****
After hanging out with Dylan for almost half a day, he drove him home.
"Are you sure you're not staying for dinner? Mom cooked some of your favorite"
"I still have to meet Amanda after this"
Leaning against the car window, Tina tried to persuade Michael to stay for dinner while the latter tried to politely refuse since he still has a following arrangement after this.
Tina pouted and replied, "It's been a while since you came over after moving to your new place. Mom will be sad if you don't stay for dinner"
Micheal could only laugh at her attempts to guilt trip him and tried to ask Dylan, standing a few steps behind his sister, for help through his eyes.
Dylan shrugged his shoulders and mouthed the words, "Just stay man, you know how stubborn my sister can be"
'Dammit! This guy is still no help if its his sister is the one troubling others'
Despite already knowing the outcome, Michael still felt annoyed at his friend's attitude.
Slap!
Impatient, Tina suddenly slapped Michael's shoulder and said, "Come on! Mom made chicken adobo and spring rolls! Doesn't it make your mouth water just hearing them?! You know how delicious they can be!"
'F*ck! She just had to mention spring rolls! It's been ages since I last had them!'
As somewhat of a foodie, his resistance to food was easily breached! It didn't even last a minute under Tina's relentless onslaught of temptation for delicious food!
"Alright, fine! But I want to take some of that food home. I want to share some good food with Amanda and Jenny when I go back. I need to bribe them with it so I can lessen Amanda's anger later for being late for our appointment"
"Don't worry! Leftovers aren't a problem for us now!" Delighted, Tina laughed heartily that she was able to persuade him.
'I wonder what this little mink is planning that she's so relentless for Michael to stay?'
Looking at his sister, Dylan suddenly shuddered.
