Chapter 513: The Underground Cavern

The man stood up and watched the people enjoying themselves at the beach.

"At least that Randy had really stopped or minimized his nightly activities. We have one less worry with that"

"Right, enough about them, do we have any news on the movements on their side?" the man asked while letting out a sigh of satisfaction from getting his shoulders massaged by the woman.

Letting out a soft chuckle, the woman replied, "They have started doubling and tripling their security detail. Especially those "people", they have started hiring people from Blood Lions to protect them"

"It seems like they finally smelled the danger coming their way" the man said, "Do they have an idea that we're helping those two then?" he continued.

"I'm certain they do, or they're just incompetent at this point. Also, there have been a group of unknown people lurking around the building and even some had followed us. We captured a couple of them, but their lips are really tight. So our men had no choice but to get rid of them" the woman answered.

"Did you send them to the mines?" the man asked.

The woman nodded and answered, "I did. We need all the manpower we can get"

"That's good. Do we have any information about how long before that mine gets most of its resources extracted?" asked the man as he went back to his seat and turned it to face the ocean scenery.

"Give me a minute"

The woman brought out her phone and started tapping her phone as silence descended over them.

"Found it! Our people down there estimated that the mine will last more or less 7 years. "After a short silence, the woman answered after looking at the files she needed on her phone.

"That's good, that's good. We'll need every resources we can get"

At the same time while this conversation is taking place, deep down below the Mine Tech. HQ.

There is an incomparably spacious cavern below, and if someone were to look far enough, they'll see numerous tunnels, branching outwards to somewhere unknown.

Currently, this vast cavern consists of numerous buildings built inside, and the place is full of uniformed armed men moving around like busy ants and moving towards different tunnels that lead to places throughout the underground network.

If this scene were ever exposed to the public, it would be earth-shattering news for the masses, but a huge threat for the people that go against the company.

If Micheal were lucky and stumbled upon this place, then it would finally dawn on him on why the company had stood strong time and time again.

Unfortunately, he won't be able to know anything of this since previously, he only had minimal interaction with the company, or more accurately, nothing at all!

And if one looks closely, people would realize that there's also another group of people down here.

People who are wearing clothes that can already pass as rags and they look incredibly filthy like they haven't taken a bath for months on end.

They looked gaunt, their eyes full of despair, while some had eyes that had already given up on life and moved like a walking dead!

Compared to this group of people, there was also a group that's a complete opposite of them.

A group who looked incredibly healthy and were even wearing smiles on their faces as they chatted amongst themselves with pickaxes over their shoulders!

"Keep moving asshole! Cherish your lives, and remember that you lot would have been dead on that chair if it wasn't for the company having a use for you lot!" yelled a guard as he pushed one of the people who was lagging behind the rest.

'I would have rather died on that chair that day rather than live like this! They won't even let us die on our own terms! Bastards!'

'Just you wait until I get out! I'm gonna expose all the dirt of this company! And those groups of boot lickers, you people will be the first ones on my list that I'll take my revenge on!'

'Persevere! I just need to be obedient, work hard and make a good impression on the guards! And maybe then, I'll also be able to join those people who are treated better than the rest of us! I want to lie down on those soft beds too and eat good food, not just potatoes and bread!'

Hearing what the guard said, the people all had different thoughts and emotions. Some were angry at their situation, some were burning with revenge and still hadn't given up on escaping, while some had already accepted their faiths and just wanted better treatment.

"Hey buddy! I heard that it'll finally be our turn to receive a new batch of slaves in the coming few days!" One of the guards came over and relayed the latest news to his friend.

"Really?! That's great, we'll finally be able to replenish the dwindling number of our slave unit! By the way, how many will we get?" The first guard was immediately delighted at the news and his stern expression from earlier had finally loosened up as he started smiling brightly.

"Well, 2 death row prisoners and three people who were captured as spies" answered the second guard.

Raising an eyebrow, the first guard replied, "Spies? It's been a while since we had some of them down here"

"Yeah, and while I was on my way here. I saw a couple of the Captains talking to each other and I accidentally overheard them talking about how the surface had started becoming chaotic lately after the assassination of a few notable figures" said the second guard while clicking his tongue and shaking his head.

Without waiting for his friend's opinion, The guard quickly changed the subject and said, "Anyway, enough about that depressing stuff! Did you hear that Ken from Unit 2 received a pay raise?"

"Really!? How much will he be getting?!" asked the first guard, obviously envious just looking at his eyes.

While also envious of their colleagues' situation, the second guard answered "$10,000!"

"$10,000?! That's a lot!"

'At least you guys have a salary! What about us then?! Will we remain as slaves and die as slaves like those people before us?!'

The slaves who were listening to their conversation could only feel anger.

Angry that only now do they realize how precious their god given freedom is!

As the saying goes, there's no medicine for regrets in this world!
