Chapter 1389: Kill her with 1388 blows

Chapter 1389: Kill her with 1388 blows

Lu Zhiyan called Gu Kai ahead of time to ensure Wei Jingshan wouldn’t get wind of the situation and escape prematurely.

When he arrived at the hospital with his team, Gu Kai had already summoned Wei Jingshan to his office. Wei Jingshan was still oblivious to the fact that her cover had been blown.

Seeing Lu Zhiyan walk in alongside two uniformed officers, Wei Jingshan froze momentarily before abruptly springing up from the sofa.

“Doctor Gu, you have visitors. I’ll come back later.”

“Wei Jingshan, they’re here for you. There’s no need to leave.” Gu Kai curled his lips into a cold smirk and spoke with an air of mockery.

Upon hearing this, Wei Jingshan’s face paled visibly. “Doctor Gu, I don’t understand what you’re saying.”

Her voice stumbled, trembling faintly.

“Don’t understand what I’m saying? What’s there to fear, Wei Jingshan? Did you truly believe that by sending letters as Bai Yiyi, by writing under her name, no one would ever discover it was you?”

“I don’t know anything about photographs or letters.”

Wei Jingshan took a step back, the color draining further from her face. The guilt in her eyes was now entirely replaced by panic.

She glanced at Lu Zhiyan and the two officers, but in the next second, Lu Zhiyan’s words struck her like a hammer, driving her down into hell.

“Wei Jingshan, the police in C County have apprehended the person you paid to stage a car accident to murder…”

“I didn’t do it! I’m being framed! Doctor Gu, please believe me!”

Wei Jingshan retreated step by step, her face as white as paper, utterly void of blood. Her gaze darted frantically, fearfully, toward Gu Kai, as though she desperately wished for him to believe her.

When Wei Jingshan reached out to grab him, Gu Kai’s eyes flashed with disgust. He raised his hand, pushing her away, and retrieved a recording pen from his pocket. “This is the conversation between you, Qian Songnan, and his wife.”

As his words fell, Wei Jingshan’s knees buckled, and she almost collapsed onto the floor.

“Zhiyan, here, take this.” Gu Kai’s words had just finished when the office door suddenly burst open. Fang Zhiwei stepped inside wearing mourning attire, her voice piercing the air: “Wei Jingshan, you little b*tch!”

She strode quickly toward her, raising her hand. In the next moment, the crisp sound of slaps echoed through the room, and Wei Jingshan cried out in anguish.

The once-pale, delicate face was bruised to a grotesque mess in mere seconds.

Swollen beyond recognition.

“Fang Zhiwei, stop hitting her!”

Lu Zhiyan watched as Fang Zhiwei, in a frenzy, continued slapping Wei Jingshan’s face relentlessly. Even after she fell to the ground, Fang Zhiwei grabbed her hair, as if intent on beating her to death.

His handsome brows furrowed; he stepped forward to pull Fang Zhiwei away.

“Let me go! I’m going to kill this b*tch who murdered my father!”

Fang Zhiwei, livid and hysterical, had lost all sanity. She knew only one thing—her father had been killed by this little b*tch Wei Jingshan, and she had to avenge him.

Unprepared for Fang Zhiwei’s immense strength, Lu Zhiyan was caught off guard as she broke free from his grip and lunged at Wei Jingshan once more. His gaze darkened, and with decisive force, he grasped her wrist and wrenched her away.

“Take Wei Jingshan away.”

He ordered the two officers nearby.

Fang Zhiwei, restrained by Lu Zhiyan, continued to struggle, cursing angrily: “Lu Zhiyan, let me go! I want to kill Wei Jingshan to avenge my father!”

“If you kill her, who’s going to compensate her life with yours?” Lu Zhiyan roared, his voice sharp, and tightened his hold on her arms to prevent further resistance. He turned to Gu Kai, who remained indifferent:

“Ah Kai, help talk some sense into her.”

“Zhiwei, you’ve hit her enough. If you keep going, you really will beat her to death.”

Gu Kai spoke leisurely, clearly unconcerned about Fang Zhiwei using violence as her outlet against Wei Jingshan.

Not for any other reason—just so Fang Zhiwei could vent her anger, reducing her resentment toward Bai Yiyi.

Hearing Gu Kai’s voice, Fang Zhiwei finally calmed down.

Lu Zhiyan released her hands, explaining briefly to Gu Kai, and prepared to leave with Wei Jingshan.

“Wait!”

Nearby, Fang Zhiwei, her emotions somewhat subdued, suddenly spoke again.

Lu Zhiyan assumed Fang Zhiwei intended to strike Wei Jingshan again and his strikingly handsome face darkened. He spoke firmly: “Miss Fang, we’re taking Wei Jingshan back to the police station now. She’s violated the law, and justice will handle her punishment.”

“Officer Lu, Wei Jingshan killed my father. I swore that if I ever found out who was responsible, I would drag them to my father’s grave and make them kowtow to him.”

Fang Zhiwei stepped forward, blocking Lu Zhiyan’s path.

Her cool brows revealed a resolute determination. It was clear that unless Lu Zhiyan complied, she would not move aside.

In truth, it wasn’t an unreasonable request on Fang Zhiwei’s part—Wei Jingshan had indeed killed her father. Making her kneel a few times at his grave seemed entirely justified.

“Ah Kai?”

Lu Zhiyan glanced at Fang Zhiwei’s stubborn expression and turned to look at Gu Kai.

Gu Kai pursed his lips, stepping forward leisurely. His gaze swept across Wei Jingshan, whose face was beaten black and blue, covered in scratches that had drawn blood. At this point, she resembled a soulless puppet.

She appeared oblivious to their conversation.

It was as though none of this had anything to do with her.

Her dreams shattered, her future obliterated, her entire life in ruins.

“Even disregarding the fact that Professor Fang’s death was caused by Wei Jingshan, simply owing to the fact that he donated his body to medical science, having Wei Jingshan pay her respects isn’t unreasonable. Zhiyan, there’s still time. Take her to the cemetery.”

The previously vacant-eyed Wei Jingshan suddenly snapped up her head upon hearing Gu Kai’s voice. She stared at him with deep sorrow and resentment:

“Doctor Gu, I love you so much—how could you treat me like this?”

Gu Kai sneered in disgust, the very idea of giving her another glance revolting to him. “Wei Jingshan, you don’t deserve to say the word ‘love,’ nor do you deserve to love anyone.”

“I—I truly love you. Ever since the day you appeared at our school, from that very glance, I’ve loved you. You can’t possibly understand the effort I put in over this past year, the sacrifices I made to enter Kangning Hospital…”

Tears followed as Wei Jingshan spoke.

Before meeting Gu Kai, her ambition had been simple: to be an exceptional surgeon, marry a wealthy husband, and enjoy a high-society life.

But since the day she saw Gu Kai on campus, her dreams transformed.

She sacrificed everything, simply to get into Kangning Hospital and be close to him—to make him notice her and gradually fall for her. Eventually, she envisioned marrying him and saving lives together.

Gu Kai cast a cold glance at Wei Jingshan, finding her every word tiresome. “Zhiyan, take her away now. Make sure she kneels before Professor Fang’s grave to confess her sins.”

“Are you coming too?”

Lu Zhiyan’s eyes flitted briefly, his tone casual as he asked.

“I’m busy, so I won’t go. While you’re at it, send Zhiwei home.” Gu Kai didn’t bother asking how Fang Zhiwei had arrived; for the sake of convenience, he instructed Lu Zhiyan to escort Fang Zhiwei home.
