Chapter 395: A God?

Chapter 395: A God?

Gabriel’s brief words were like a spell. All traces of fear and anxiety were vanquished from the hearts of the one thousand man army, their eyes burning with furious determination.

And if not for Gabriel standing before them and giving orders, they would have rushed out to face the enemies head on rather than wait.

No one knew who said it, but a chant began to spread amongst the soldiers. It was contagious, and soon, in the blink of an eye, it was on the lips of everyone present.

"Fight! Fight!"

"Fight! Fight!"

The soldiers echoed the single words while slamming their chests passionately, bloodlust gleaming in their eyes. Their loud voices echoed across the wilderness, reaching even the ears of the approaching convoy.

Sophie watched the scene with a mixture of emotions brimming in her heart. This... this was her first war. At first she had been anxious just like the others, however that fear was no more.

And it was all because of the red haired man who stood calmly in the distance with a cold expression on his face. She believed in him. She believed that with him here, the heads of their enemies would be handed to them on a platter.

What shocked not only her but the rest of the one thousand men present was the blind faith they had in him. It was the kind of faith religious fanatics placed in their gods.

The noble princess of the Valerian Kingdom did not even know when it happened, but she found herself slamming her chest as well, eyes ablaze with determination as she roared alongside her brethren.

"Fight! Fight!"

"Hahahaha! This is more like it!" Ragnarok99 laughed. "BrawlerX would be mad that he missed all this when he logs back into the game."

Beside Gabriel, Scarlet stared at him with a mix of emotions. Only a truly skilled leader could turn anxious subordinates into men excited about dying on the battlefield.

"You..." The words hung in her throat. All this while, she had thought she was a good leader, but she had to admit that not even she could stir the emotions of her subordinates like this.

"It seems I did not make a mistake in allying with him." She grinned as her silver, elegant longsword materialized in her grasp, catching the faint glare of the moonlight.

At the same time, in the far distance, the convoy became more apparent, bringing with it a storm of dust. The Broken Dawn fighters only grew more excited at the sight.

On the enemy’s side, the lead truck driver stared at Gabriel with confusion, his face pale.

"Why... why is he standing there again? That red haired monster is not moving!"

"Fuck! What is he up to this time?"

The first encounter had been disastrous and had cost the lives of several Eastern Camp fighters. As such, every member of the Eastern Camp had developed fear toward the towering red haired man whose cold, electric gaze made human lives seem worthless.

They were even more afraid of Gabriel than they were of Henry, their lord.

When the convoy came within range, Scarlet beside Gabriel stepped forward. However, he raised a hand, stopping her in her tracks.

"What is it?" the swordswoman asked, a hint of confusion in her eyes.

"Just watch." Gabriel smirked as he stepped forward, approaching the convoy. Scarlet stared at him with slightly furrowed brows. Beside him, unseen, was Seraphina.

"Do you still have a little mana left?" he asked softly.

"Yes, I do." She nodded, then added eagerly, "Do you need help?"

"You seem very eager to help me." He teased, looking at her with suspicious eyes.

"Well, if you die, I die as well. I cannot let that happen," she said casually, flicking a strand of her lustrous crimson hair behind her ear. "And if we both died, I would never find out my memories."

If the enemy knew that Gabriel was having conversations so carelessly in the middle of the battlefield, they would not only feel insulted but enraged.

"Alright then. I need you to wipe out the first batch of vehicles. That should boost the morale of my subordinates."

Seraphina laughed at his slip, then stepped forward, a strong gust of wind blowing her hair as it fluttered in the air.

The vampire queen raised a hand. So did Gabriel. Since Seraphina could not be seen by anyone, he needed to sell the act and make it seem like it was him, even though it was not really necessary.

Gradually, blood pillars the size of full grown adults began to form in the sky, their sharp pointed tips gleaming under the moonlight. They hovered in the air like execution stakes waiting for an order.

Noticing this, the enemy convoy’s movement momentarily paused in fear and shock.

"Not again!"

"What is that?"

"Fool, can’t you see? It looks similar to the blood rope back there. Retreat!"

While panic spread amongst the enemy ranks, Broken Dawn watched in awe. Naturally, they believed Gabriel was responsible, and that belief only strengthened their faith in him.

In a matter of moments, dozens of blood pillars hovered midair. Some of the lead vehicles had already turned around to flee, but before they could make any progress, she snapped her fingers.

FWOOOSH! FWOOOSH! FWOOOSH!

The blood pillars shot forward.

BOOOOM! BOOOOM! BOOOOM!

The first line of trucks did not even have time to brake. The crimson spikes pierced through metal like paper, lifting entire vehicles off the ground before pinning them violently into the earth. Engines exploded, tires shredded, and bodies were flung into the air as screams were abruptly cut short.

Another pillar smashed into the lead war jeep, detonating its fuel tank in a violent explosion.

BAAANG!

Flames burst into the night sky, painting the battlefield red and orange.

Dust, fire, and blood mixed together.

For a brief second, silence.

Then chaos erupted.

On Broken Dawn’s side, the one thousand men stood frozen, mouths agape, eyes wide with disbelief. They had expected bloodshed, but not this. Not such an overwhelming display of power.

And then Gabriel roared.

"Attack!!!!!!"
