Chapter 476: Sophie’s Whereabout

Chapter 476: Sophie’s Whereabout

Inside the Valerian Kingdom castle, the large training hall was already active.

Two knights stood facing each other at the center of the stone floor. One held a spear. The other gripped a sword. Both moved at the same time. The spear shot forward in a straight thrust. The swordsman stepped to the side and deflected it before closing the distance.

Metal clashed against metal, the sound echoing across the hall.

The knight with the spear pulled back and spun his weapon in a controlled motion, aiming for the side. The swordsman blocked again, then countered with a quick strike aimed at the shoulder. The exchange was fast and precise. Neither of them held back, but neither lost control either.

Around them, several other knights stood watching. Some had their arms folded. Others leaned on their weapons while observing the fight closely.

At the far end of the hall, a raised platform had been set up.

On it sat a woman.

She was dressed in clean, layered clothing, and her posture remained straight as she watched the fight below. A veil covered her face, hiding her full appearance. Only her eyes were visible, calm and focused.

Even without seeing her face, her presence alone was enough.

Everyone in the hall was aware of it.

No one spoke loudly near her. No one moved carelessly. Even the knights fighting below kept their actions controlled.

A newly appointed maid stood near the side of the platform. She had only arrived recently and still carried a slight stiffness in her posture. Her eyes moved between the fight and the veiled woman before she leaned slightly toward the older maid beside her.

"Why does Her Highness wear that veil?" she asked quietly.

The older maid did not look at her immediately. Her eyes remained on the hall.

"It is not something openly discussed," she said after a moment.

The younger maid hesitated, then spoke again.

"I have noticed it. The Queen also wears one."

The older maid finally turned her head slightly.

"Yes."

There was a brief pause before she continued.

"It is a tradition of the Valerian Kingdom. Not many outside the palace know about it."

The younger maid listened carefully.

"The veil is not just for appearance," the older maid said. "It is used to conceal something."

"What does it conceal?" the younger maid asked.

"Power."

The younger maid blinked.

"Power?"

The older maid nodded once.

"It is said that both the Queen and the Princess possess abilities that they do not fully control. The veil helps suppress it."

The younger maid looked back at the veiled woman on the platform.

"They cannot control their own power?"

"Not completely."

The older maid’s voice remained steady.

"That is why the veil is always worn. It keeps things stable."

The younger maid frowned slightly.

"Then... can they ever remove it?"

The older maid paused before answering.

"Yes."

"When?"

"When they stand before someone they truly love."

The younger maid looked surprised.

"Love?"

The older maid gave a small nod.

"That person is said to be the only one who can help them contain their power without the need for the veil."

The younger maid stayed quiet after that.

Her gaze returned to the platform.

The veiled woman had not moved. She continued watching the fight below without reacting to anything around her.

Just then, the doors to the hall opened.

A sharp sound echoed as they were pushed inward.

Everyone turned at once.

A woman walked in with a straight posture and a firm expression. Her steps were controlled, and her presence carried authority.

The head maid.

The knights in the hall straightened immediately. Even those watching from the side adjusted their posture. The maids nearby stood more upright without being told.

The head maid walked forward without stopping. Her gaze moved across the room once before settling near the platform.

She stopped at the base and bowed slightly.

"Your Highness."

The veiled woman shifted her gaze from the fight to the head maid.

"Do you have news?" she asked in a calm voice.

The head maid nodded. "Yes."

The room grew quieter, and the knights slowed their movements slightly, though the fight did not stop completely.

The veiled woman remained silent for a moment before nodding.

"Speak."

The head maid raised her head slightly.

"We have confirmed the location of the Second Princess, Sophie."

...

Meanwhile, back at the New Dawn camp, Gabriel, Seraphina in her Sarah form, and Sophie stood watching as more people, both natives and players, came out of the portal that led to the mini tower.

As they stood there, Sophie occasionally sneaked glances at Sarah. She was still trying to figure out how Gabriel had known this person whose beauty even made her pause.

Naturally, Sophie respected others’ privacy, but with this woman, she could not help becoming curious and wanting to ask questions.

Furthermore, a series of wild theories began forming in her mind. For one, what if this person had somehow influenced Gabriel?

It was a strange thought, but it was the only one she could come up with. She could not understand why he would place someone whose identity was a mystery as the head of the third division, even if only temporarily. That position carried a lot of weight.

Then another thought surfaced.

Could it be that this woman was a long term friend of Gabriel?

Sophie felt this was the most reasonable explanation.

Gabriel had never properly explained who Sarah was. He had simply left it vague, and as the supreme leader of New Dawn, no one dared question his decisions.

Whatever the case was, Sophie found herself oddly comfortable around her.

She looked at Gabriel, whose back was straight and firm, his posture steady as always, as if ready for anything to go wrong. Then her gaze shifted to Sarah, who had a small smile at the corner of her lips.

Sophie’s eyes trembled slightly beneath her veil as she noticed the faint, almost provocative expression on her face.

At that moment, another batch of recruits stepped out of the tower, and Gabriel walked forward.

"I will be back. I want to check the tower."

He did not wait for a reply from either of them and simply strode ahead, leaving the two women alone.

The tension in the air became almost palpable.
