Chapter 494: Royal Crest
Chapter 494: Royal Crest
There were very few existences Gabriel wanted to avoid, especially in the early stages when he was still trying to get his footing in this world, and that was the monarchs of this world.
Gabriel had gotten almost a thousand stat points just from taking over the eastern camp, which was just a minor faction in the grand scheme of things.
If he could get that much from just the camp, then certainly without a doubt King Alveron of the Vermilion Kingdom would have at least a million or even more stat points considering the long and rich heritage of the Vermilion Kingdom. He was almost, if not already, a godlike existence on earth.
The king was a walking nuke. With over a million stat points, he could easily obliterate a kingdom with a couple of attacks.
It was also rumored that because of his immense power, he rarely appeared in public, which made total sense.
Once you accumulated power like that, your perception of reality changed. The only people he could be comfortable with were monarchs of other kingdoms whose heritage was just as rich as the Vermilion Kingdom.
And now Xman was saying that Gabriel had to sneak in front of someone as powerful as that and steal from him.
Infiltrating the castle alone was tough because they had several hero ranks acting as guards. Even then, thanks to his recent power boost, Gabriel was confident about infiltrating the castle. However, getting access to the area where the royal family resided and the king’s personal chamber was where the real dilemma arose.
At that moment, when his mind was becoming chaotic, his passive Undead Heart activated simultaneously, calming him down, and clarity returned to him once again.
"Are you sure of what you are saying?" Gabriel said, his tone calm.
Xman nodded confidently. "I have never been sure of something like this before in my life. The only problem is the infiltrating part. However, if you could give me some time, I can at least give you a rough outline of the castle. Although it will not be accurate, it could help you a bit."
Gabriel raised a brow. He wanted to ask how he was going to do that. Even in his past life, the castle was one of the places he had avoided, so he did not really know what the inside looked like.
How could someone like Xman possibly have a rough outline?
In the end, he only swallowed his questions. He needed to come to terms with the nature of Xman and how resourceful he was.
"He would make a good pair with Legendary Logan," Gabriel thought.
"Alright, I will let you do that. Although I am a bit curious about how you will pull it off, I will let you do your thing."
With that said, Gabriel decided to sit down and log into the forum to kill time while Xman proceeded to do his thing.
He claimed that in order to draw the rough sketch, he would have to log out since the necessary materials and point of reference were in the real world.
Naturally, Gabriel was fine with this.
And so Gabriel waited for Xman to come up with the makeshift map.
....
Back in New Dawn, things were moving steadily.
After Gabriel left, the temporary leader in charge of the camp was naturally Sophie. No one argued about that. She was calm, organized, and people listened when she spoke. Even the stronger fighters in the camp did not cause trouble under her watch because she handled things in a quiet but firm way.
Under her management, the camp looked more organized just as it was before. In fact, some people felt it was even better. Of course, this was something no one dared to say out loud.
People still talked about Gabriel, wondering why he suddenly left, but they continued working because Sophie made sure everyone had something to do.
Even though she was busy running the camp, Sophie was also investigating something else quietly.
Sarah.
Gabriel had introduced Sarah as the temporary leader of Division Three before he left, but Sophie had never heard of her before that day. That alone made her curious. Someone strong enough to lead a division should not be unknown, yet there was almost no information about Sarah in the camp records or from the people Gabriel had brought in.
So Sophie had been trying to find her identity.
She asked a few people indirectly. She checked some of the older records from the early days of the camp. She even tried to recall if Gabriel had ever mentioned someone like Sarah before. But so far, she had found nothing useful.
It was as if Sarah had appeared out of nowhere.
That alone made Sophie more cautious, but she did not show it openly. She still treated Sarah politely and gave her full authority over Division Three as Gabriel had instructed. On the surface, everything looked normal, but Sophie was still searching quietly for answers.
At that moment, Sophie was inside her personal mansion, which was just a few meters away from Gabriel’s. Several documents were spread across the table in front of her while she reviewed supply and patrol reports carefully compiled by Arnold himself.
A few seconds later, there was a knock on her door.
"Lady Sophie."
Sophie looked up from the table. "Come inside."
The guard entered and bowed respectfully. "There are visitors at the entrance of the camp. They said they want to see the person in charge of this place."
Sophie’s expression changed slightly as she slowly put down the document in her hand and looked toward the guard.
Visitors? She was not expecting any visitors, and she did not think Gabriel was expecting any either. If he was, he would have informed her.
"What do they look like?" Sophie asked.
"They came with more than one vehicle," the guard hesitated. "But there is something more. The vehicles have the royal crest of the Vermilion Kingdom."
"Royal crest?" Sophie’s eyes widened and her heart rate quickened.
