At some point, even the ground beneath the man’s feet started to crack as bits and pieces of the stone flew in the air circling the umbrella along with everything else that was unfortunate enough to be caught in its momentum.
Meanwhile, Mikayal’s sword started shining with a bright icy blue light as the temperature of the area dropped drastically in a second.
Ice started forming around the old man and spreading on the ground at a rapid pace.
“Don’t betray me, friend.” Mikayla murmured as he pointed his sword right at his target.
Immediately, right out of the sword, countless ice shards formed and then flew toward the mysterious man at top speed.
However, the moment they made contact with the umbrella, they broke into pieces and merged with the tornado that was created.
At the same time, Mikayla was starting to feel his body being dragged toward the spinning umbrella.
So, he quickly stabbed his sword into the ground as he yelled.
“Ice Hell!!” “Immediately, the whole frozen ground underneath them shifted and huge spikes emerged everywhere.
The spikes were extremely sharp and in all angles.
Seeing that, the mysterious man smiled as he said.
“It’s pointless.
You have already lost the moment it started.” “You think so?” Mikayla asked with a smile as he pointed at his target.
Immediately, a spike emerged right beneath the Origin User and quickly rose till it hit his left hand that was still spinning the umbrella.
The moment it made contact with his skin, Mikayla dashed forward.
At the same exact moment, ice quickly spread across his skin and to his fingers.
Feeling the intense pain, the man pulled his hand away to try and avoid the spike.
However, Mikayla was already anticipating that as he thrusted his sword forward, aiming for the man’s neck which was protruding slightly out of the umbrella’s barrier.
The sword reached the circle of momentum of the umbrella as it tried to pierce it.
“HNNNG!!!” The moment the two weapons clashed, a huge shockwave exploded everywhere, carrying along with it an unbelievable amount of Origin.
The feeling of the two auras clashing shook the entire city as if it was hit by an earthquake.
Everything happened in a split second, way faster than any human could even perceive.
The effect, however, lasted way longer than that and was far more destructive than anything anybody would expect.
“AGHHHH!!” Mikayla clenched his teeth as he tried to push his arms forward with all his power.
His sword was stuck in the momentum of the umbrella.
“Get… Off!!” The mysterious man murmured as he suddenly kicked forward with his leg, surprising Mikayla.
‘He’s risking losing balance just to push me away.
He can’t hold on for longer!’ Thinking to himself, Mikayla shifted his balance as he tried to avoid the kick while also keeping his sword pressuring the barrier.
It was hard, but he was able to not lose his momentum while doing it too much.
‘I can do it…’ As Mikayla was about to feel relieved, he suddenly noticed something.
The man in front of him had suddenly vanished as he appeared right to the side, pulling the umbrella along with him.
‘Wha-‘ The old man’s eyes widened to the extreme as his pupils moved to the side, only to be met with a grin.
“Did you think I was going to simply keep charging that attack?
It was just a simple trick to lure you in.” ‘He tricked me!
Shit!
I didn’t think he would use his strongest attack as a decoy!’ Mikayla thought to himself as his heart sunk in and a strong feeling of dread enveloped him.
*Swish* The umbrella, which was closed now, suddenly thrusted forward, piercing the side of Mikayla’s abdomen ruthlessly.
Blood spurted out like a fountain as the weapon dug deep into Mikayla’s insides.
“AGH!!” With a muffled groan leaked out of his mouth as he was blasted away by the impact as he smashed against the wall.
“I never wanted it to reach such a painful turn, friend.
You aren’t meant to fight against me, goddamit!” The man said as he started walking toward Mikayla who was sprawled on the ground, breathing heavily.
“Do you think I enjoy doing this to you?” “Hah… Hah… Hah…” Mikayla didn’t respond as he simply stared at the sky tiredly.
His face was as pale as a sheet of paper and his injury was oozing with blood.
Both of his lungs were punctured and they were leaking blood.
“You became a lot smarter, kid.
Hah… Hah… You didn’t slack off for the last 30 years.” “All because of a certain old man that pushed me beyond my limits.” The man replied with a cold tone tinged with sadness.
“Hahaha, cough!
Cough!
That sounds like a good old man to me.” With his bloodied teeth, Mikayla forced a wide grin.
“You don’t hate him, do you?” “…
I never did.
If anything, I was always grateful to him.
Now, and forever.” The man said as he looked down with a sad face.
For a second, as he stared at Mikayla’s face, his eyes flashed with nostalgia.
Decades ago, when he was still young, this old man trained him and taught him most of the things he knew now.
Being a military man, Mikayla was extremely strict and harsh which made his younger self hate the old man a lot.
However, as he grew up, he started realizing how dumb he was.
If it wasn’t for this old man, he would’ve never gained any of the things he had now.
He owed him way too much to even think about repaying him.
All he could do was silently respect and admire him.
When he saw with his eyes the footage of what Mikayla said, he was shocked, betrayed and even angry.
Mikayla was the one that brought him to Divinity and taught him to love that organization.
Yet, now he betrays it?
That was outrageous!
However, he also quickly realized that it wasn’t just that, if what he did was the truth, then Mikayla was no longer his teacher… He was now an enemy that he needed to eliminate as soon as possible.
When that idea settled in his head, he felt his heart tighten.
‘Fuck… Why did you have to do it?!
Why?!’ He cursed inwardly as he tried to calm his emotions down.
However, Mikayla noticed that conflicted look in his disciple’s face.
“Did I teach you to hesitate when finishing an enemy?” Mikayla asked with a smile.
“…” “When you face an enemy.
Killing them is the least of your worries because if you don’t, they will.” Hearing those words, the man looked up with widened eyes.
Those words were the same words he heard from Mikayla when he was young.
“Do it, kid.
I would rather die in your hands than to end up in the hands of that man!” With that, the man lifted his umbrella as he shook his dark thoughts away.
His hesitant look vanished and was replaced with a hardened coldness.
“You won’t go to hell, friend.” “But if I do, you better not leave me alone for too long.
It gets boring down there.” *Swish*
